  1. Hi, There are no Line 6 staff here, and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). This link is where you need to go to have any hope of your suggestion been seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/ Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. Then you should use the “sticky thread” in the main Helix forum to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to IdeaScale, so they can vote on it if they wish. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Hi, When you completed the update to v.3.71, did you perform the recommended Factory Reset? When weird stuff happens, especially after a firmware modification - Reset to Factory defaults, by holding down FS7&8 while powering up the unit. Full list of Helix Reset functions here: https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options Hope this helps makes sense.
  3. Hi, The next time you open HX Edit, click on the “question mark a white circle” in the lower left of the GUI window. There you will find a link to the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide, which is a downloadable Adobe Acrobat pdf. This contains all the relevant information you may require for editing and managing your presets. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi, This has been mentioned many, many time in these threads. Go to the search function on the main page of this Helix forum and type “Gatekeeper” into the search field and hit return, see what happens. Also, from the Line 6 Knowledge Base is this official notice from 2019, previously linked in a reply above! Seek, and ye shall … Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Hi, What you’re asking about, which amps do, and which do not respond to HXFX switching is a bit of an unknown quantity, to the point that even Line 6 stated way back in 2016 they have only tested a limited amount of hardware. see this: Also from way back, possibly the “moaning” you mentioned. If you do intend changing your amp, take your HXFX unit and plug it in to see if it works. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  6. Hi, I don’t have any Marketplace items, but my guess is the IR files licences are attached to your laptop. Something similar from a few years back - see my reply here. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hi, It's not a question of your "erring", but more a result of your "hearing". Your JBL305s are 5" powered studio monitors with a given frequency response of somewhere around 49 - 20,000Hz An average guitar speaker will only reproduce approximately 75 Hz — 5 kHz, or for electric bass speakers, down to 41 Hz for regular four-string basses or down to about 30 Hz for five-string instruments. Your HX Stomp is attempting to model exactly what would be the real world sound of a guitar cabinet with a microphone on it. It's a science thing. Your monitors are able to reproduce a lot more higher frequencies than the modelled cabinets. Play around with the various settings, but there are no rules with this stuff - go with what you like the sound of. Hope this helps makes sense.
  8. Hi, From the description of your set up, the amps and cabs in your HX Stomp are not being used. Have tried to patch your HX Stomp by using the 4CM with FX Loop of the Hotone amp?
  9. I have always maintained, that even if the grass is greener, it is just as difficult to mow.
  10. Hi, Ah, if you have a MacBook Pro is is very simple - just connect it to your Helix with the USB cable. The Helix is class complient for use with Apple Mac computers and should show up as an Output Device from your Menu bar. You can play tracks from your Music (iTunes) app, Spotify etc. For the iPad you may need to use the Apple Camera Connection Kit. (ACCK) If you have GarageBand you can also use your Helix to Record your guitar. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. You could try playing the intro to Tubular Bells! Water and electricity - Aaarrrrggghhh!
  12. Hi, It seems to me that the wording in the error message may indicate that you are trying to import a setlist rather than an individual preset. Check the file extension - Presets = .hlx Set Lists = .hls Bundles = .hlb Backup = .hxb I don’t think that the code -8701 is one that I have seen before, but because it mentions, “Preset translation not supported, DSP block constraint exceeded”, I would guess that is an error generated by a preset that came from Helix Native, which uses Hardware Compatibility and stops presets from loading into hardware that has insufficient DSP. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Nope - it’s not possible to drag a Preset that exceeds the compatibility mode limits into another device - only Native can load these type of files when HC mode is Off. Here ya go - from the Helix Native Pilot’s Guide. “Since the engine of Helix Native is essentially the same as the one utilized in all Line 6 Helix and HX products, we’ve made things even more flexible within Helix Native by offering Hardware Compatibility modes (HC modes), to emulate Helix (Helix, Helix Rack, and Helix LT) and HX (HX Stomp XL, HX Stomp, and HX Effects) devices, as well as Preset Translation. As covered in the following sections, these features provide the ability to share presets between Helix Native and all Helix and HX devices, allowing you to greatly expand your library of Helix Native tones. IMPORTANT! Presets saved or exported from Helix Native, HX Edit, and Helix/HX devices version 3.50 (or later versions) are not compatible with earlier versions. We highly recommend exporting and keeping backup copies of all your presets before updating to the latest software or firmware version. TIP: The HC mode can also be turned Off, which means you can construct a preset in Helix Native using as many blocks as will fit on its signal paths, regardless of block type (Amps, Cabs, IRs, and Effects) and DSP usage, effectively “unleashing” Helix Native from any per-instance DSP limits!” Then it explains if you have HC Off. Off - Once a preset is saved in, or exported from, Helix Native in this HC mode setting, the preset can be loaded or imported into Helix Native in this mode setting with no translation required. When set to Off, the UI and options are essentially the same as the Helix HC mode, but with several restrictions removed (see the "HC Mode Feature Comparison Table"). Just remember when working in this Off mode—with greater power comes greater responsibility! Without the restrictions imposed as in other HC modes, it is possible to create a preset in a single plugin instance that can place significant CPU demands on your computer system. Creating a preset that exceeds the limits of other HC modes also means the preset will not be able to be translated and utilized in HX Edit with any Helix or HX device and only loaded in Helix Native when it is set to the HC mode Off state. This guy was having enough issues trying to figure out a hardware device. Good job he didn’t get let loose with Native. Anyhow, he neither knows, nor cares, about any of this - one year on from a post he never followed up!
  14. Hi, This is a Helix user group and yours looks like an issue for Customer Support - nobody here can assist with this sort of problem. https://line6.com/support/tickets/ If you need assistance from other users of the Spider amp, or FBV they can be found in other areas of the forum. https://line6.com/support/forum/89-spider-v/ https://line6.com/support/forum/45-fbv-controllers-mki-mkii-3/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Hi, The problem with connecting from your phone or iPad using the 3mm headphone output to the Return jack socket on the Helix is that you need to patch the return onto a path that goes direct to the output of Helix without any fx blocks on it. You need to have no effects processing on the backing track playback. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, I would guess that the problem is with your Android phone rather than the Helix. See this info from way back. More More Even more Even more about Android Another Maybe time to buy an iPhone? Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Hi, From the vague description given by the OP, my guess was he was trying to indicate an error which has shown up here quite a few times going back to pre version 3.0 firmware. "Failed to get preset names. Operation failed due to DSP overload. [code -8611]" Here's an example regarding this error occurring after FW 2.92 installation. The OP never came back to confirm or deny this, but hey, it doesn't matter now. As for HX Native, I have never had it run out of DSP in Logic Pro on my Mac with 32GB RAM. and I have had several instances of Native open at the same time. Even though it is possible to create a monster preset in Native, it will only ever work within Native due to the limitations of the "Hardware Compatibility" option built into HX Native. Maybe time to put this baby back to bed.
  18. ZOMBIE THREAD ALERT! Hi, As pointed out by @DunedinDragon in the post above, none of your comment is of any relevance to the OP's issue, which is to do with the internal DSP onboard a Helix hardware device - he didn't clarify which one. Plus he never responded to my request for more information, way back in FEB 2023. It is probably even less relevant as he only ever made 2 posts and it's likely he put the thing on Ebay as he stated. Hope this helps/makes sense to everyone else who fell into this crazy time warp!
  19. Well, if folks insist on putting together ridiculous lists, then this one from the Tubes is pure genius. I really cannot understand why someone buys a guitar modelling device and then puts forth a list of exotic/expensive, or boutique effects, that they seem to feel they should be given FREE. It’s just possible that because I got old that I started to despair! Either that, or I have become like my late father, because I can almost here him saying - “Kids nowadays!”.
  20. Blue fins! ”I dig the fins... listen: do you know how to get to the ah, Hollywood Inn from here?” Well, you can't have that, but if you're an American citizen you are entitled to: a heated kidney shaped pool, a microwave oven--don't watch the food cook, a Dyna-Gym--I'll personally demonstrate it in the privacy of your own home, a kingsize Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum, a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi, real simulated Indian jewelry, a Gucci shoetree, a year's supply of antibiotics, a personally autographed picture of Randy Mantooth and Bob Dylan's new unlisted phone number, a beautifully restored 3rd Reich swizzle stick, Rosemary's baby, a dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams, a new Matador, a new mastadon, a Maverick, a Mustang, a Montego, a Merc Montclair, a Mark IV, a meteor, a Mercedes, an MG, or a Malibu, a Mort Moriarty, a Maserati, a Mac truck, a Mazda, a new Monza, or a moped, a Winnebago--Hell, a herd of Winnebago's we're giving 'em away, or how about a McCulloch chainsaw, a Las Vegas wedding, a Mexican divorce, a solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot, or a baby's arm holding an apple?
  21. Hi, I don’t own a Kronos, which is quite an interesting piece of gear, but my very basic setup is very similar to what you wish to achieve. First, my Helix floor has my powered 8” studio monitors connected to the rear XLR out. The Helix USB is connected to my iMac 5k Retina running Logic Pro X. The Helix sends fully processed stereo audio on USB 1&2, along with a dry mono signal on USB 7. All audio from Logic (or any other audio source) is sent back out to the Helix input set to Multi. From the Owner’s Manual page 68 -USB Audio “With the Helix default “Multi” Input and Output block settings in use, you’ll automatically hear audio software playback on USB 1/2 routed directly to the Helix XLR, 1/4" and Phones outputs. This lets you jam along with YouTube, iTunes, or your DAW tracks without hearing them through a bunch of amps and effects. If you set your DAW software track to record from Helix USB 1/2, you’ll capture your Helix-processed input signal in the DAW track—with zero-latency monitoring, since you hear your input from the Helix hardware outputs before it is routed through your software. The additional Helix USB Inputs and Outputs are available within the Helix Input and Output blocks, and within your DAW software track menus. You can utilize these USB ins and outs for numerous routing configurations, all without patching extra cables”. As I stated earlier, this is the very basic hook up to get you up and running. Your Kronos has a bunch of 1/4” outputs that would need further consideration, but using the USB out it should be possible to create an aggregate device within the Audio/MIDI app on your Mac. I also have an Arturia KeyLab 61 controller keyboard which handles all the Logic and other third party soft synths, sample and drum duties. I then have an X Touch Universal Control Surface that handles and fully automates all the mixer and channel strip options. I have a rack full of vintage synth/sampler modules from Roland, Yamaha, Akai and Kawai that can be accessed via MIDI from the Arturia or the Helix. Jump into the shallow end first, then see how deep you need to dive with this stuff. Hope this helps/makes sense. 22. Hi, As noted by @rd2rk in the post above - there are no Line 6 staff here, post your suggestions to the Line 6 IdeaScale. Here’s a few of my observations about your requests. #1: - I’m a studio user, and since November 2015 I have been using my Helix to record into Logic Pro, on an almost daily basis and can honestly say that I have never suffered from disconnects while working. If I ever did, then it takes a matter of moments to be back up and running! I would suggest that you check you connections and workflow. #2: - You say that you find the Helix is limited for processing vocals, well that’s because it’s main purpose is as a guitar device, everything else is a bonus. I have used it to record basic vocals for further processing in the DAW. Again this has always been without any problems, using a simple signal path incorporating the Studio Tube Preamp, LA Studio Comp and a little EQ. What you are requesting is a list of “high quality vocal” specialist effects to be added to a guitar amp modeller and multi-fx unit. Helix is designed mainly for guitar work, although those nice folks at Line 6 have included Send/Return FX Loops, so if you wish to add a TC Helicon VoiceLive, or a Boss VE-500 into the signal chain the option is there. #3: - Hmm … “A guitar modulator that turns your solid body humbucker equipped guitar into a open coil Strat, that gives you full flexibility of different guitar tones without having to haul 6 guitars to a recording session, jam or gig.” I think this sort of thing has already been done by Line 6, with a guitar solution called Variax. #4: - Drum roll - Ibanez TS10 - post your suggestion to IdeaScale, but check how many others have also put the same idea forward. (Pause for dramatic effect). You never know you might get lucky with that one, but don’t hold your breath. I bought my Helix for what it could do at the time - not what I wish it could do in future. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi, If you are trying to import presets which you have downloaded from Line 6 CustomTone, you need to ensure that they are compatible with your hardware. Line 6 specify that the HX Stomp XL can load Presets designed for Helix, Helix Rack+Control, Helix LT, Helix Native, and HX Effects presets, as long as they contain 8 or fewer blocks on a single DSP path. It would be helpful to know exactly which CustomTone presets you’re having this problem with. Hope this helps/makes sense.
