Thanks again. I got mine yesterday. I have so much to learn with iOS . I sometimes think I should have stayed with a Windows laptop for what I will do. GarageBand looks cool but I will need to learn a lot. I will still go to my friends studio if I do anything serious. It I'll be interesting to see if I can do a proper click track or scratch vocal with GarageBand. I am not new to recording. I cut my teeth at Omega Studios in Maryland taking classes in the mid 80s but that was still analog tape recording. They had just started digital classes and cd mastering. A CD player cost about $500 then.

Not sure how this got off on a pick conversation but it has been interesting. Ha ha. It is funny how different everyone is with picks. One of the guys I play with uses wafer thin picks. I can't stand them but to each his own. Thin picks do reduce pick noise though. I Started with thin picks but went totally the other way. I seem to have more control with heavier picks. I tend to play with my fingers the most. I palm a pick and will even switch back and forth in a song. Weird I know. The Helix needs an optional pick tin addon

As expected, mine will get here tomorrow. It said estimated today . I am not sure why but it always says next day delivery from Sweetwater but Fedex never accomplishes this. The last tracking info was leaving a facility at about 3am that is about two to three hours from all of the local hubs. If it was going to be today I would have seen an early morning arrival and departure from the local hub and the out for delivery statement. No big deal. I knew it was happening. It just always make you hope when it says expected next day. I just wonder if it I'll show up with the old man (I hope not...he throws stuff) , uhaul or budget rental.

I figured I would get mine Thursday, which just happens to be my birthday. The estimated shipping date says tomorrow but the way Fedex is here it will probably be Thursday. Everything I get from Sweetwater says it should arrive the next day but I don't know that it ever has happened.

Mine shipped as well. I never thought about switching to overnight but I am one day according tobthecFedex site so it should be here Thursday. And I just realized Thursday is my birthday ðŸŽðŸŽ‚.!

Oct 06, 2015 ET Your order has been picked, packed and transferred into the FedEx system. It can no longer be changed. More tracking information will be displayed just as soon as FedEx makes that information available. Getting closer!

Just as a side note Fedex delivered today in a Budget rental van. I guess the U haul broke down. 😆

I got a call two minutes ago from Andy at Sweetwater. The Helix has arrived and they are currently processing orders. He said expect mine tomorrow or Thursday (if they use Fedex I expect it Friday).

Is Helix worth buying for just the effects-NO AMPS NEEDED.
BigRalphN replied to JLEpperson's topic in Helix
I have a Nova System that will either collect dust or be donated to a young guy at church. The od and distortion were ok but made the thing very noisy. The rest of the effects were very nice. I just will not have a need. I still hope they add a couple phasers to Helix. With everything else one phaser seems piddly. I had a Redwitch Deluxe Moon Phaser that was to die for. I would love a similar one for Helix. -
I resisted calling yesterday. It wasn't easy. Hopefully they got there at some point. As I mentioned in another thread shipping has been very odd with companies in the last month. We get a lot from all three major carriers and USPS and Fedex especially have been missing the mark here. USPS is sometimes doubling shipping times and it isn't even holiday season. I look for a terrible shipping season for Christmas. FedEx is just bad locally which I realize is not the case around new the rest of the US. The best was getting three Fedex envelopes delivered by an old man in a grimy white tshirt in a beat up,Ford LTD. Two days ago, they delivered with a UHaul. And ther is a big FEDEX depot only 14 miles away.

9-11-15 ???? Is this date still the ETA of the Helix
BigRalphN replied to jaminjimlp's topic in Helix
I keep hoping to hear from Sweetwater today that mine is shipping or sublease has a number tong input tomorrow. They have 200 to send out though. It could take them a bit and no idea when they will actually get them today. -
I had no issues with USPS until recently and it has gotten pretty bad. I do not know what the issue is. I had a priority package take three weeks to get here. I saw it in tracking. It was at a local terminal waiting. Nothing gets here at the date right now. Things sent from Amazon prime via USPS take a minimum of three days even though they are priority. Fedex in this area is bad. It always has been. UPS is the best hete. Fedex was tops years ago. I have had Fed ex delivered by an old beat up Buick and the guy just throws it up on the porch instead of walking up and setting it down. Yesterday Fedex showed up in a UHaul. Broken down Fedex truck? Who knows.

Is there a good site or group to explore ir's on?

There is nothing unusual here. Some have sold out initial shipment so if one orders from them they will get the late November date. Others dates will vary based on when they receive their shipment. I can tell you shipping outlets are not real dependable with dates at the moment. Especially USPS which is suddenly horrible. UPS has been ok but Fedex has been flakey. We get a ton shipped here.
-
Thank you. I saw that but there were so many variations and such. Good to know that's the best.

Can you recommend a specific camera connector or maybe a link? IOS is so new to me and it seems like there are a bunch

Interesting. My phone and one of our tablets is android. I wonder how they overcame all the latency issues with Android or if they did? I see the bypass statement but there was more to it than that. There is also this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.aemobile

Will new firmware bring new effects and amps at no cost?
BigRalphN replied to josephyballew's topic in Helix
I would rather see Line 6 release a developers kit to Third Party sources to develop amp and even effects models.Yes we would have to pay for the but I think this would get people all the boutiques they want faster. -
Thanks. Reamping would be big for serious recording but Garageband would be for quick recordings and practice
-
Thanks. You beat me to the punch wth my question as to how to connect the Helix. I have bee searching Amazon and have no idea. Ha ha. This is going to take research. I have an IPad Air 2.I do have an older windows laptop if it gets too confusing.

They are supposed to magically appear down warehouse chimneys like Sweetwater and GC tomorow.
-
Dude. You have got fingerprints all over your Helix! 😆

I just ordered a couple of each type to try. I like thick picks. I have tried wood, they are cool but not for everything, and metal. I have picks that are half smooth and half rough. But mainly I always went back to the heavy Alice brand picks that come in sets I get from China that are $7 for 100 with a box. I just like the feel of them. I probably have 300 picks lying around of various type in search of something I love.

Ok. Thanks ðŸ‘.

And Joe Walsh has been in the Carvin magazines as one of their guitar players and endorser. They even show him with his Carvin. In numerous concerts I have seen him play a Carvin once.
