DI beat me to it. I was going to say it sounded like a line/mic level issue. I am running krokkit 5's with mine and it sounds great. In fact I added a little high end on a few things.

Line 6 has started from the start that DT amps were not directly supported. And if you preorder a brand new item you have to expect growing pains. People were yelling for the release and then if they have bugs they say it was a premature release. I just hope the people at Line 6 realize some of us are very happy and are more than willing to work through the growing pains. I also thank the team for all tve hard work and the fact we already have multiple firmware updates. I guess that was why I used to be an Hewlett Packard tester. I enjoy it.

I recommend a Mono case if they have them in the UK. Gator is nice but Mono makes it look cheap.
-
Did you get your Mono yet? How did it compare to the Gator. What strikes me with the mono is the quality and strength. Heavy rivets, extra stitching, added padding etc. The handle is a beast and needs to be. The Helix got pretty heavy carrying it around Sunday.

I always thought compatibility mode was a farce. I never had luck with it after any Windows update.

Then maybe just a protector for the floor unit. I would think the floor unit would be in harms way more often than the rack unit.

As someone who sharpened his recording in the mid 80s when most was still done analog I would expect some volume change and definitely character changes, when changing microphones. Some digital programs tend to overblow this. I think what happens is personal preference of the person creating the model enters in. For instance in the older sm57 and sm58 are identical except on has the ball windscreen/pop filter. I have heard programs make them sound completely different which just is not correct. Every mic has a sensitivity rating and pickup pattern. When combined it can cause some slight volume changes when switching mikes itch very similar characteristics. A huge variance is probably over blown unless switching from something like a ribbon to a dynamic mic. I need to dive in and see how line 6 tackles the microphones.

Maybe not but I like the idea of one precut for the main display. The scribble strips might not be practical but I would buy one for the main display. Especially if it was precut tempered glass which would also ad break protection.

Can we please delete some of this crap. I hate looking for reviews and opinions only to see this garbage. We have beat the lack of content to death since the beginning and now we have people can't ignore disparaging comments and take up need space with ranting. Time for a moderator to step in and use the temp ban function or delete things with warnings in pm.

Issues are minor and expected. No big deal. If you preorder a first run of anything you have to expect things popping up. Overall,it is great.

Yes to everything I believe. I updated firmware out of the box before doing anything with it. One step I did not follow was the factory reset step as it didn't seem necessary since the device hadn't been used. That could have been an issue I suppose. Yes, just the top row of scribble strips was lit up with just a couple effects showing. I hadn't made my own presets per se but what we had done was added a few effects to the stock AC30 normal channel and tweaked some of the settings. We saved those settings. The next boot up the issue occured. I tried about 4 boot ups before doing the reset. I tried to recreate the issue and saved the same tweaks but it is working fine now. I can't recreate it.

I understand his thoughts and appreciate the idea as similar thoughts have occurred to me. The issues would be many though. Bias of the user could make one sound better, intentionally or unintentionally , as well as the proficiency with each device. I am sure YouTube shootouts will occur down the road. I plan on taking mine to my friends studio. He has the Kemper. We will obviously compare a little but are mor interested in the performance of the Helix in a professional studio situation (he is not a home studio).

The blank screen issues after a reboot requiring a factory reset . Two of us have had this issue and I submitted a support ticket.

We ran the Helix straight to the house at church this morning. I let my son use my the Helix (good Dad) and I used the HD400. He was playing lead and using more effects so it made sense for him to use it. We were blown away. It sounded incredible. He used a lot of heavy delay and reverb and it was lush and warm. They did away with amps a few years ago and this is the first time I can say a guitar sounded great. I have some settings on the HD400 that sound decent but not compared to this. I know guys that are real happy with their HD500 settings but I seriously think this is way better in feel and tone. He used the ac30 normal with the Minotaur and 808 screamer. He alternated between the elephant man and transistor tape delays and plate and spring reverbs.

Mine seems to calibrate automatically. I just ran it full range once and it is good.
-
Sounds identical to what happened to me but it took only one reset to fix it.
-
I wonder if I caused this. if you read the firmware update procedure it requires a reset. Since I took it right out of the box and flashed the firmware prior to using it I didn't feel this step was needed. Maybe it is an essential step.

If you look at the threads I had near identical issue. I could have named it diffetent. I recommend creating a support ticket like I did so they see multiple instances of the same issue.

Check out this awesome demo

I created a support ticket just so they have it.

Is there a specific place I should report it? I tried to duplicate it by adding the same blocks and saving it. I powered off and on a few times with no repeat issues. Another weird thing is the volume pedal was not completely turning off the volume. That issue is gone after reset.
-
That was very weird and hopefully a one time anomaly. It would suck to have had a ton saved and have that happen.
-
Ok. I got it back. Held the bottom two switches on the left during reboot. It restored all factory stuff and all is fine. Something must have glitched when I saved some of the last settings I did,
-
I was playing fine with it an hour ago. Now I turn it on and it goes through the boot process then I just get a black display. All but three scribble strips are blank. I can't find a line 6 tech support number but they are probably closed today. I have no,idea how,to do a factory reset. Any ideas people?

Guys. Call Andy at Sweetwater and get one of these http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/M80PedalTour He recommended it to me and it is awesome. I got the last one but they are getting more. Super quality and near perfect for the device. It has abs in the sides, back, etc in addition to the padding. It is not super cheap but is very protective and easy to carry. I have had numerous Rondo cases. No issue with them, but I prefer this for ease of carrying. If I had gotten from Rondo I would spend the extra $40 and get the heavy duty 1000 model.
