  1. I realize all this. what made me ask initially (prior to getting my helix) was a comment by the Line 6 guys. A comment was made about flash drives and opening all the boxes to install the 1.0 firmware before shipping. Obviously a dozen guts with laptops could have done it but I just thought there might be an onboard method with a flash drive and adapter. Obviously an adapter is not practicle.
  2. I asked about updating from a flash drive and was told no, but it's possible they just do not want people attempting it
  3. I am with you. I just sold the new Variax Standard I had bought. I thought the acoustic sounds were crap. Just not natural. My Babicz sounds nice through the Helix. I had a VG Strat that I sold when I got sick and needed cash for bills. It was head and shoulders above the Variax. That said it too was like a Swiss Army knife. I just do not think guitar modeling is at the level of amp modeling.
  4. Amazingly it is working fine this morning. That is what I find weird. Sometimes it works.
  5. I realize this is a known issue but for the first time I noticed the Star Wars laser noise when tapping in a tempo live. On the latest firmware. Sort of a funny bug but hopefully fixed soon as it makes live tempo adjustments interesting.
  6. I don't understand this one. Every input can be gated and then there is a gate that can be put anywhere in your chain. I am not sure why another would be needed. It's just a simple matter of turning them on. I know what you are saying. You do not want to turn them on individually. But how many can they put in? Just turn them on prior.
  7. That may be designed that way. I can seer times I would want it like that, depending on what I have assigned to the pedal. I would think that might need to be in ideascale. Maybe a switchable option.
  8. I am having much better luck tonight which leads me to believe it is connection related.
  9. Did you lose power during the process or did it do this when it rebooted itself? You could still try the factory reset sequence. If it does the same thing you could try flashing again or flashing the previous firmware update.
  10. Refresh me on the Volume pedal issue? I will see if mine does it live tomorrow? I generally use one patch Sunday morning with an a orb amp switch but can change ut.
  11. Agree with the sluggish comment. The could just put an on/off feature in for joystick rotation I suppose. That may be what you are saying. Like I said, I love the joystick and fly now am used to it. I would be all for an on/off as long as the option is there to keep it like it is. like ivsaid, my issues are more with the touch sensitive stuff. But I am starting to get used to that.
  12. Thanks. I got it to work just fine. I am not sure what I was doing wrong before. Operator error.
  13. Just hilight the input circle. You can turn a gate on there.
  14. Hmm..I tried multiple iR sel cation and couldn't get it to happen. How did you do it? Shift click?
  15. I wouldn't expect much with the editor. Line 6 has stated over and over that it is just as easy or easier to use the Helix itself for editing ad that the software will just look one the Helix screen. They are pushing for people to edit on the pedal. I have heard peoples reasons for wanting the software and understand but based on their comments I wouldn't expect much. that could change but probably not anytime soon.
  16. One odd thing here is that after I reset my presets they are all in different positions than before. All mixed up. No longer grouped by Fender, Marshall etc
  17. Same iOS and app here. Weird. It updated to 9 awhile ago. I tried other browsers and had the same issue. Odd it is just this site. On my phone now. It was working fine so maybe something installed that messed it up. No idea what it could be though. I am new to iOS
  18. Is anyone else using an IPad, or least trying to, with this forum..? I have to use my phone. With my iPad air 2 I have a hard time selecting things and can't reply to anything. It's the only site I have issues with.
  19. I would remove all the line 6 software and drivers. I would even consider deleting any line 6 reference from the registry and then reboot. Then install the latest Helix software first and let it install all the driver's and finally line 6 updater. While there have been issues most people with Win 7 have no problem. There are so many PCS and configurations out there that it can be tough though. Also you could try closing anything you don't need in the device manager before loading the line 6 software. Also check the device manager for any red warnings or cobfkicts.
  20. This is seriously just something that takes some playing to get used to. Both my son and I have no issues with this now and like it. I am sure it is annoying but people just need to learn how to use it. It is very similar to crane controls I use though in a much smaller scale. We hated them at first also but later we were all more proficient. I make more mess ups with the touch sensitive features. But we all have our likes/dislikes.
  21. You probably needed to right click and use the SAVE AS feature the give the file name the hlx extension. Chances are windows didn't recognize the extension so you just got the gibberish machine language
  22. Using the Windows 7 laptop And on my Windows 10 machine I have zero backup/restore issues. I know some have but I thought today's update should fix most of them. I never had an issue though so I was lucky from that standpoint. I did get one black screen after the first firmware update but after a reset I never had one again. The issue I he more often was freeze ups with a few complex patches while editing. I was able to recreate them so I will have to see if I can cause it after the update. If so I will ring up Line 6 and report it.
  23. I once had a Nagra reel to reel arrive totally smashed. If anyone is familiar with them they are built like a tank and extremely expensive. Someone didn't pad it back in our shop.
