  1. Are you talking the VXT series over the Rokkit? These are Rokkit 5 speakers. The are ok for playing the Helix but seem to color the sound a little so if you are doing serious recording they are probably not the solution. I have never heard the VXT series. The Ultimate Support stands I have them on made a pretty big difference. The isolation they offer (each has some sand in the or weight and sound isolation) really helped them a lot. If someone just wants a decent set of monitors for Helix playing in the home they are ok. I probably would not recommend them if you are into serious recording and I am sure there are other budget models that might do a better job. One big lus in my case is they seem to be pretty close sonically to,our sound system at church so I can make my patches and do very little if any tweaking when I use it there. I should add that if someone can't tell from my comments above the KRK Rokkit series is very sensitive to speaker placement and also what they are placed on. I think they absolutely need t,be on either a sound pad or legs like the design of the ultimate stands. Never set them on carpet, hardwood or floors. They will sound horrible.
  2. That looks pretty nice.
  3. Very seldom and on,y to build on like HonestOpinion stated. And until I rad a few threads I didn't realize that after I did my resets I was restoring the old presets back unchanged. :(
  4. Quite comfy! My son opened it up to use it Sunday and was like WTH?
  5. I was told the editor is now the top priority. I expect it any time.
  6. My Mono with the StudioSlips padded cover on the Helix
  7. They have to tell them that. You know someone would take it apart and break it. Plus they want your warranty in tact.
  8. Often playing this through it
  9. It is definitely down to preference of style. I will say that if versatility is big, then the Line 6 backpack has to be the winner from what I have seen. It can be a backpack or carry bag. I won't go into my dislike of backpack stuff. Ha ha. If people back I bought the Studio Slips cover for my Helix. It makes the mono a perfect fit and I like having the cover on it in case some paint decides to let their kid play around the stage.
  10. I am in the same category here. I liked the X3 Live at the time. I did not think modeling was great but it sufficed for our church (and the powers that be that said no amps). The effects were ok. He amps were ok but I thought high gain stuff sounded terrible. I did not like the HD series at all. I wanted to return ours as soon as we got it but they seem to think new is better. I could never find a sound that I was happy with. It was always not quite right. Close , but I could never find that magic something to please me. Plus I thought it was insanely difficult to adjust on the fly and edit. Maybe I was just used to the X3 . The Helix is something different . It just blows me away. The ease of use is outstanding. An the tones to me are so far superior that I can't believe I ever used the one stuff. I will admit I didn't li,e the presets but the updates gave improved them and with a little tweaking they sound great. Headsets can be super misleading so I do everything through my studio monitors. I am pretty close when. Get to chuch tnen. I actually have to cut los a hair when I get there. I think it will just take you a little time to figure out the tweaks for your situation.
  11. There are definitely cheaper options than a mono gag but I can promise you that in most, if not all cases, the mono will be superior in build quality. The rivets alone on gone mono ate sturdier than any bag I case out there. I is think vinyl, real heavy padding and star sturdy stitching. That said if money is an issue people are sharing a few fine looking products, including the Line 6 backpack. I would still buy my mono again.
  12. I do not think the technology or processing power exists anywhere to do what everyone wants with these extensive presets. I am sure Line 6 will get it reduced some as the tweak and refine things but I see this on many devices. We have a high end keyboard/workstation at church and it has the same issues between presets. It takes time to load and volume changes can be massive. it sounds amazing. We have learned to wait between songs very briefly and splits tones somehow if things are needed within a song. I know some people have claimed to make the HD series sound decent but we never did. I hated how it sounds but we were not allowed amps at church so for me comparing it to the Helix is unfair in some aspects as I do not think they are even close to the same animal. The Helix sounds much better. And as far as TC Electronics goes there is no modeling so it doesn't need the CPU. I am curious how AXFX users feel when the change presets? I saw Brit Floyd a few months ago and they used AXFX direct. I was told they had racks of them though so I don't know if they switched between units or if some were just backup. I only know of one big group currently using Kemper live
  13. I use it direct only. I don't even bring my expression pedal with me (though I might start doing so). It sounds fantastic live. It blows away the hd series stuff we had been forced to use. I would not have bought it for bedroom only. I am with you on some points. It seems like some are buying it as an effects processor only. This surprises me but it would s cheaper than a lot of pedal setups I see. While I do not get these huge elaborate setups either to each his own.
  14. That would be very cool. We have to use in ear here. I hate them personally because ours are old an I feel tethered.
  15. Identical use and same experience here with the HD series. The Helix is a breath of fresh air. Much easier and sounds fantastic. It has been used every Sunday morning since I got in on the first shipment. When my son plays instead of me he uses it as well.
  16. My setup. https://flic.kr/p/D9cjV2 I have no idea how to do pictures on this board. Maybe because I use an iPad . Everywhere else it's direct to the board.
  17. It amazes me how complicated people make their setups. Everyone wants 50 connections into all these different deivices and rigs to work, well with each other. I will not start another "old days" post but the phrase the simpler the better still goes. I always thought the idea behind modeling was to eliminate amps and the inherent issues with the mic process in live situations. I kind of understand in small bar situations if you are not going to mic the amps (though even this is not preferred as monitors are needed) but it is so much easier to go direct to the board and from my experience so far it sounds every bit as good. For home use just use a pair of studio monitors. It sounds amazing that way. I do understand that if you already own a certain setup that you want to get itt to work with what you have. Itbjust seems to me simpler is better and people are getting too caught up in wanting to use every cool tool at once.
  18. We have been using it live every week since we got in on the very first batch to arrive at Sweetwater. It sounds amazing each time. We have had compliments on tone from other visiting musicians and they want to know, where the amps are set up. Direct to the board. The sound guy has the channels set flat so the Helix handles everything. Sorry to hear about your issues. Without actually being there I don't even want to guess. I had some bass issues at home but it was speaker placement. Once I got a set of monitor stands it was great.
  19. I have threatened to run over the dbspl meter at church if I see the sound guys using it. If it sounds too loud, turn it down.
  20. Lucky you. I have never had an issue on any Helix stuff until this one. Went back to the previous version. Brand new WIN 10 laptop. Once I got past the signature issues it will not open.
  21. The Timmy is a pretty close replica but needs tweaked. I have owned the Timmy and the Tim. They were both mainstays an my board. I seldom used the Timmy alone. It was usually set for a clean boost and always on. It added something that is hard to explain, but was wonderful The line 6 version can do it but needs tweaking. Just pop it in as is and it seems a bit noises to me, something the Timmy never was, but I think it also is very dependent on where it is in your chain so that may have been part of my initial thoughts on it. With a bit of tweaking I seem to have it where it is super close to,the real thing. Maybe identical, I don't know as I sold both of mine. The Tim would sometimes be my only dirt but only when using the extra circuit. The Tim section was still set to boost. I honestly thought that was the best use of a Timmy. Always on. Yes, you could boost it and get a super nice amp break up, like using super hot pickups, but the money was as a mild boost to push things to,the edge. I haven't noticed hearing dry signal but I dent listen for it. I will now.
  22. Direct to the broad via xlr with outputs set to mic level. Zero noise. I actually forgot to set them back to mic this morning after the latest firmware update. I still didn't have noise issues and the some guy didn't complain but setting it to mic level in the past cured any issues.
  23. I think we have become overly spoiled and all developed a sense of entitlement with all of today's technology. I am not pointing at anyone and I include myself in this. I just look at the bands I did sound for in the very late 70's as a teen and off and on through the 80s. We often ran our amps flat out and used volume on the guitar or a volume pedal to do clean tones. Stomp boxes of any type could cause massive changes is mix volume. As a sound guy we had to know every song as well as the band and know when to adjust. Now we expect devices to normalize volumes for us because some lesser device can do it, or even things like zero issues between two devices even though no compatibility is promised. Why? Because technology has advanced to the point where sometimes all the above is possible . This is just an observation. I do the same as everyone else even though I lived through a time when it all was done by the techs. Computers and processors are amazing but I feel sometimes I need to,step back and just say "Hey, I can deal, with this". Please guys..do not take offense. It is really not aimed at anyone at all. Like I said, I am a terrible offender here. I was thinking last night the new Timmy is way to noisy. I wanted to turn it on and go. Not adjust it. (As a former Tim and Timmy owner it is a bit noisier than it should be..lol).
  24. The bug was in the librarian app if I understood it properly, not the update.
