  1. M first thought was heat as well. That sounds like a thermal overload. I would do a support ticket just in case. Mayb have it checked out. If it's ok then make sure it's well ventilated. Sounds odd though. All of the other ideas above are possibilities as well.
  2. It is only run automatically if you have your browser set to launch downloads upon completion. It is a browser setting, not a Line 6 issue
  3. I think the biggest issue is not downloading the current Helix app everytime and install grit first to make sure everything is up to,date. I find the instructions very clear. Why not use the Updater to download the update file. I would understand in the very rare case where someone's internet connection is so unstable they are concerned about a failure but from what I have seen the Updater will not start the actual update process until it gets a good complete download. This also prevents getting the wrong update file.
  4. Definitely do the firmware upgrade as suggested. Get current before building tons of stuff.
  5. If you do not mind spending a few dollars grab Glenn Delaunes Snapshots. It will give you a great starting point, shine you a few ways to do things, plus give you about three presets with snapshots built in.
  6. It seems like most crashes are when hooked up via USB. Funny that most people like the software. I still fnd it easier to edit on the Helix. IR selection and such is annoying on the software. I prefer a pop up box or similar for selection. Scrolling is a pain. Try to move stuff up or down with the mouse and it doesn't work so I have to hi light and use arrows. Same on line 6 updater. On my PC I can't even get the text to scroll and read full instructions. I have to read on the website.

Tuner ratio has a lot to do with it.
  8. Pull your pa speakers dead center in front of you

    Tuner

Hilarious. People complain that they want a more accurate tuner. Now they get it and it's too Jumpy. All good tuners will jump around a bit more. It was perfectly accurate before in my opinion but people and precision (though I highly doubt most can here + or - the amount built in unless they are one of the very few with pitch oerfect hearing. Did you ever pick up a players guitar who claimed their hearing was more accurate than tuners and check them? I did many times. I was setting up for a bar gig once (I was the sound tech at that time) and checked our singers guitar as all of us thought it sounded off but him. He had tuned a half step sharp. Another friend always tunes just a tad sharp. Not so much that you notice it but he actually thinks it sounds better that way. If it seems to b jumping just follow the larger of th displays like you used to. It is not changed. If you are in the green there you are close enough for live.

    K. Thanks. That's what I figured but somehow I didn't notice it. It void be because others were using my Helx a chuch and I used my AX8 onl because others had no clue h to use the AX8. I noticed the tuber Sunday when I was back using the Helix.

Ok. When was the tuner update? How did I miss it? I know I d not use it a lot, but still, I must be blind
  12. Nothing. It needs to rebuild after importing your set lists.
  13. Missed by some, ignored by others. I have seen people say they shouldn't have to restore presets every update and they don't do it.

    T5z

This one is basically a tube preamp to warm it up with a little compression and reverb. The IRs are what made it work here. I am sure the setup is makes a huge difference fir acoustic settings. Plus the T5z is a little thinner sounding than the larger T5.

    T5z

It seems like I am the only person that uses a Taylor T5z with the Helix. No one else seemed to use one or at least talk about it. Ijust was not happy with the acoustic stuff I found. Nothing really did it fir me when using the body sensors on the T5z, which I believe is the same as the Taylor Expression System. Taylor IRs that I found made it sound ok, but more like a simulator. Direct, with some EQ, the T5z sounds pretty darned decent so I knew something would sound good. So I came up with this. It is simple and basically the same as many others but the free IRS included really seemed to do well. It still needs tweaking but here us a link. The T5z sounds great as an electric, but almost any can be used there ( especially Nugent presets). I have not tried it with an other acoustic or as a simulator (not what that would do). If you try it kept us know. The IRS were free. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-Tn5roJmjmQU1g5UlBRc3ROTk0
  16. Tha explains why Tals solution above would work.
  17. More like overwhelmed here. So many good tones I get overwhelmed trying to figure out which to use. As stated buy at least one if Glenn Delaunes patches. Give it a listen. You can also look at it to get an idea how to set up your own stuff. Personally I never touch global eq. I go straight to our board and have never had a need to adjust it. I do not think Glenn messes with Global eq either
  18. I got ya man! I understand your points. I didn't want things to sound like an attack. Sometimes it is hard to get things across in writing. I thought about a camera on or off setting or even just one that switches between the camera and an asterisk. The only problem is what seems like a little easy change to us could be a major rewrite to the programmers or not possible at all. I have gotten touchy about things involving vision since I got this disease. Nothing pisses me off more than opening up something new and then finding a little two inch by two inch folded piece of paper that has instructions in five languages on that tiny lollipop paper. There is absolutely no way I can read them without a strong magnifying glass. On a side note I want to thank Line 6 fir the wonderful LARGE display and easy to read items across the board. I can actually read very thing although I do need to get close for some things (blurred vision reading at a distance). And scribble strips are just super nice. As some know I also have an AX 8. In the manual they call it a brilliant three color LCD display. I am not sure how it is brilliant. It is hard to see n a lit stage. Everything is small. Things that are large only get three character (like the blocks ...delay becomes DLY). I actually hav to get down on m knees on the stage to read it. Now I realize I have poor vision but with my Helix I can sit in my stool ( I get to use a stool since I have other issues at times) and see things. The AX8 a great device as well. A lot of the fighting between sides is ridiculous as it is all in what you need it prefer. But the display is just bad on the AX8. It is line something from 1996 instead of 2016. Even honest people within the AX community acknowledge this.
  19. I didn't want to get into an argument here but I honestly would not want change. None of the solutions mentioned would help me in any way. Different colors sound confuse me. I probably could not see a frame. Inversion would look weird and annoying since it doesn't fit I with the rest of the scheme. I am not against change but I would ant something every bit as visible and it might not be smaller. I think that is what Peter was getting at. There are so many different opinions out there that sometimes things just need to be left alone. That said I am open to ideas. For me things would just be single word short labels that make sense anyway.
  20. I will sell my Helix if it changes!!!! (Sarcastic humor attempt).
  21. I am on the side of leaving it as is. I need lager cues to see things. With weak vision it is a must. My idea would be to shorten your names!
  22. Are you sure it was the Helix? We had an issue that sounds the same awhile back. It turned out to be wireless microphones. We still do not know exactly why it did it but we are guessing it was interference from phones or wireless internet. We changed microphones packs and it never happened again until a new sound tech accidentally put it in play again. It sound a EXACTLY like wha you described. I ripped my in ears ot the first time.
  23. I just found out there is a cab pack from Fractal that has the Excelsior. I may get it and try to convert it. Not sure which amp I would try it with to get close though. Would hav to b class A I think.
  24. I would really love an IR of my Fender Excelsior Pro. It is sch an amazing siunding inexpensive amp. In fact I with someone would do the entire Pawnshop series. The Vaporizer was cool too.
