It is far from silly to have to uninstall old versions though it is not required. Especially on a Windows system. Many programs ove the years force an uninstall and reboot to uninstall major updates. It cleans out directories and removes drivers no longer used to prevent possible conflicts. While Line 6 did not require it, it never hurts to do so.

His patches work perfectly fine if all the update procedures are followed. I use them every day.

Or Redwirez. Both are great. I wanted to try the 3 Sigmas but I have read a bunch of reports of the fizzy issues. It all comes down to taste though. I may try the 3 sigma Morgan IR

The Helix will be MINE at live stuff. LOL. I seriously thought about another Helx but my son loans on buying a Helix for himself so I thought why not add sonnet hint different tha we can still use to our advantage live. And us, I went to do a little tweak on an amp the first time on the AX8 and was like WTF! Where do I start!
-
I think I should point out again that this was a need. Sure it ties in with my GAS but we have been talking about improving our setup dr since we started using the Helix. I know people that love the HD Series stuff but the HD400 never did cut it for us. We were constantly getting in the looper by accident. We never got a decent tone for our system (one player could coax some ok stuff out) and adjustments and editing through the layers was a pain. I also never liked the effects knobs on the unit. It adjusted one parameter and just a tiny tweak to far would jump you to the next effect. He AX is no where near as friendly as the Helix but it is a lot nicer than the HD400 (that is my experience. No HD lovers attacking me please ).

I didn't take it as snippy. I chuckled.

I agree with you. The thing the powers that be decided no amps alike back. We generally run with two electrics so we need the second processor. I generally play rhythm there so I would let the lead use the helix as it sounded so much better than the other unit. So now I can actually use my Helix. I will have to setup the AX fir the other guys. One is my son so he can co e over and get his stuff tweaked. The other guy will just have to use what we set up. But it's going to drastically improve our overall sound. I didn't take his comment as snippy.

Ok. I know this is one of those WTF posts but I have to release my thoughts. I bought an AX8 because we needed a second device for the Praise Band at church ( mostly rock/pop) and I have wanted one just because(GAS). So I get my new AX, okay with it briefly the first day, then my favorite device, The Helix, release a major update the very next day. Now my brain is frying as I try to decide which device to play with. I love the new 2.0 Helix and want to setup snapshots for all of my live patches including the on we made from scratch. But I want to mess with the AX. Load more Fremens presets and do some volume leveling to us live. So I sit here head sling with smoke coming out of my ears trying to decide what to p,at with now. By the way, is anyone else having trouble remembering the name SNAPSHOTS and calling it Scenes all of the time?

I would be lost with the German even though my last name is Niederlander. Ha ha.

I agree in some aspects but not in others. Here is my opinion on the Helix in general. It is an amazing sounding tool but out of he box it requires a lot of tweaking to get there. On 6 has improved this with updates but iT still needs a lot of tweaking. The same goes for the oaths made with IRs. Some of the stock cabs done pretty darned good but you need to dig into the amp you at using and tweak it. So I guess in some aspects that does mean third party IRs are better because they are more plug and play, but I think the stock cabs get ignored unfairly because the buzz word for Helix and AX8 is IRS. Another thing to consider is that there may only be a few people making irs for Line 6 at the company level. Once these devices hit the street hundreds start capturing their favorite configuration, instruments, etc. So the market offers tons of options that Line 6 just can't spend time to develop or we would neve see fixes and updates.
-
Internal cabs are IRs. With tweaking some of them can sound just as good as external IRs. It is all a preference in sound as to which are better. I like Redwirez but I bought those initially. Here is a comment that will ruffle feathers but it is the truth. Often stern all is off the Placebo effect for people. The average person, with the exception of the best engineers, producers, and some musicians will not here the difference between IRs. And if they do, it is often a surprise when they see which are which. I think line 6 did a pretty good job with their stock irs. I like Redwirez because of all he different mic positions and types of Mics they offer. But OwnHammer makes Nic ones too. Here is the bottom line. It all comes down to the individuals ear and listening preferences.

I do not have Protools for the plugin. I may get in a month or two.
-
Agreed. I would do it ASAP. Before adding or making presets for sure.

I tried it and sounded more like Douchebag. Guess I need lessons

I think there is a bug in the editor in vintage digital delay
BigRalphN replied to Paolo_Maina's topic in Helix
I haven't played with it yet. Is the mix a wet/dry mix? I have to mess with it later. I will see if it's the same here (most likely is). -
Only one IR needed. I have not looked at that IR but I own the Redwirez big bundle so I am very familiar with them. They are great and I wish more would discover them. Each of the Redwirez cabs have multiple IR's. They capture them in multiple mic configurations. You just need to decide which you like. It would be cool to be able to select multiple ones as it would emulate a studio setup but it would kill your DSP. So you either load the one the preset suggests or you can experiment and try different mics or distances/positioning. I tend to like the cone at 1 to 2 inches. But sometimes the edge adds a cool sound so you really have to play.

Pretty cool. Sort of James Gang meets Kiss!

Upper left corner you will see the snapshot pull down. It's there all the time. Just change to what you want and save. I haven't figured out how to change the snapshot name in the editor yet but I am sure it's easy also. It is so easy on the device that I have been doing it there.

Others have had it happen with versions of other Line 6 products on the PC. They had to uninstall everything from line 6 on the PC. Then they rebooted to make sure everything was out of memory. Then they reinstalled the 2.0 editor and either were able to install it normal it get into safe mode and install it.

Try your PC on a seperate outlet.

You will be happy to know our church patch is made by my son and I. We need a few special verb and delay stuff for the current stuff we do to create ambience, plus crunch, clean and lead. I actually mad snapshots for them today. It is for m son and the other lead player. When I play I use a modified Glenn patch. I will probably use his Mesa Snapshot tomorrow. Lol. I also started working on the AX8 for when we gave two electrics (basically all winter).
-
Wow. I know some don't like buying presets but the Helix community is really lucky to have Glenn making presets. I have an AX8 also and I can tell you that AX8 doesn't have anyone releasing the quality patches that he releases. Specially at the fair prices Glenn has. In fact they only have one that releases in any quantity (at least that I have found). Those are nice but there is work involved in each to get them right. Glenn's are always plug and play other than the fact it sounds like the future releases will require an included iR (which will only improve them). Head to https://www.glenndelaune.com/patch%20downloads.htmand grab the new Snaoshots. I am just too lazy, and frankly not good enough, to come up with them. It takes a ton of time. This really helps guys like me out. Plus I tear them apart and learn how to better make my own. The new snapshots were released almost alongside the 2.0 update which was great. I am actually going to use the new Mesa he did in church on Sunday.

Did you update to the latest installer prior to installing. If you downloaded the new Hekix app it should have installed the proper installer then the updater should work seamlessly. Not sure why yours acted up.
-
Did you install the new Helix application first (will also install the installer)? If so have you tried flashing the update again?
