  1. I created one to add a Dallas Arbiter Treble Boost model to the effects. It is item 2796
  2. I really like the LA Studio. I can do anything I want with it. I use it real lightly as an always on pedal.
  3. I believe Sweetwater sells the Variax cable $10.00 cheaper than the Line 6 store. It is a long cable though. I hint I will get a 10 footer from the other store shown above. I wouldn't call them cheaper though.
  4. I think it depends on routing and how much you run in stereo. That will take a bit of horse power so I would suggest keeping whatever you can mono. I have a complex a/b amp setup with a lot in it and I ran out. It didn't have as many modulation effects as you did, but with some better routing (I can change a few things to mono and by reroute eliminate a block or two) I could get those in. Though I am not certain, I would suspect stereo modulation effects to be a big resource hog. As for error messages, you should not get them. You will just not be able to add items to blocks. Anything that would push you over Will be grayed out.

    Lead boost

One of the presets has a boost assigned to a switch. I can't remember which one.
  6. He could also rewire a cable reverse polarity.
  7. Good point. I did that exact thing and for a a minute or two I was totally confused.

    How to reset?

I believe holding 11 & 12 does the same as 9 & 10 but wipe out all,the presets or something like that.
  9. I am having weird saved data issues on 1.02.2 . At first I thought I was just being careless when saving or forgetting to save. I am using one of the templates. I saved it to a different set list and if you go back to,the original template half of the stuff is gone. Then I saved I a specific preset within a set list and when I look next time there is a duplicate in the second bank of presets and half of the changes in the first preset are gone. I also can not get the name changes to stick. I initially labels it AC Fender Dual. I switched to to,the more appropriate AC Fender A-B . Every time I save it on reboot it changes back to dual. And I swear each reboot it changes the initial template with more missing. If I had to guess, I would say I somehow corrupted the set list file. Luckily it isn't a big deal from r me right now as I just set it up with an A/B amp selection and pedal board when currently using live and I can easily change it before we play. Next firmware update I will just start from scratch anyway. As a side note I grabbed a free iR and it sounded awesome. I still need to,learn about irs. I loaded some not really understanding everything..lol.
  10. Forgive me if this is dumb but I have never looked at expression pedal circuits. Could you just simply wire a patch cable backwards and solve it or is it more in the circuit?
  11. I have the Mission Engineering LP1 I ordered with the Helix. It works fantastic (got it from Sweetwater) but it has a Line 6 logo on it so it had better. Mission Engineering makes it them for a number of companies like Kemper and others. Some at wired reverse. I also have a cheap M Audio I used with my Nova System and it works fine. I think it all depends on what the pedal was made for. Mission engineering are about the best. I have seen the same issue with keyboard damper pedals. When we got the new Korg at church the Yamaha Damper works backwards. Luckily we could reverse the polarity in the keyboard setups. Come to think of it the M Audio has switchable polarities so that's not a good example. Lol
  12. Oh ok. Sorry about that. I understand now. Basically a straight power amp. So theoretically it should sound better. I never actually thought about running it straight to a power amp and speakers. I just automatically think guitar amp. That would drive me nuts until I figured it out. Without knowing specs on the amp, inputs I wouldn't have a clue. I had a friend in high school that somehow managed to play his guitar through his Marantz home stereo amp. He passed away about a year ago and I never asked him how he did it. I didn't think anything of it back, then. Another friend played his through his car stereo. I am thinking you might need to run a mixer in front of it and pad the signal don a bit but who knows. Ha ha. Again, apologies for my misunderstanding.
  13. Ok. I thought you were going to a board, not an amp. That completely changes things. You could just run into the effects loop if the amp has one.
  14. What are the 1/4 inch outputs set to? I believe they can still be set to line or mic. I take it you are going direct to a mixer? You could try setting the output to line and use an insert which bypasses the preamp on the channel. It is very possible you are not playing well with the preamp on the channel. I have not tried the insert yet (didn't think of it until after the fact) but what we did to get rid of the hiss today was set the Helix out to mic level then dropped the channel gain to about 11 o'clock (analog mixer). That seemed to take care of the hiss and we still head enough headroom on the channel for more than enough sound. In fact we only ran the slider about half up. We cup,d have backed the channel gain down more but then in our setup you need to get a screw driver out to boost the Aviom monitors so we avoid it when possible.
  15. I have been thinking on this a lot today. Iam an analog guy. I am not familiar with digital boards. We still have a 48 channel analog board. I want to try the Helix using insert jacks. The Helix sounding amazing again once I set the output to mic, but I am thinking that the channel pre amps are still coloring the tone a little. Setting the Helix to line and using inserts to bypass the pre amp might yield a truer tone. The only issue might be if they are balanced or unbalanced. I do not do sound very often these days so I do not know the board well enough. It might also alleviate any of the hiss issues some are having.
  16. I am in a similar position here. I play in the church band and I have jammed playing classic rock with a few guys but I am basically a bedroom player. I am 53. I suppose the difference with me was I did Pro sound for a living for most of my 20s as well as taking studio engineer classes and did some analog studio engineering. I still think I have a pretty good ear and I have dabbled in sound through my thirties and forties and while I did tune and setup guitars in my youth I didn't really start playing until about 10 years ago or so. Not to get too far off track, I feel like you do. I am really amazed with how far modeling has come. We have had the Xt live and X3 and now have an HD400. These all got progressively better (though I liked the x3 better than the HD for ease of use, not sound). But the Helix blows them all away. It is easy to use and sounds amazing. I have even started recording a little with it. Wow. I love it.
  17. Ignore the major troll behind the curtain. You just encourage him. 😆 That is what I am using as well. I haven't had an issue so far. I have saved and restored ok. I do not have a ton of changes at this point which might be the issue. I will create a setlist and see what happens. For what itsworth, everyting works on my Win 10 system also. I just found my laptop more conveniant
  18. I have to disagree wth the rushed out comment. A few weeks ago people(not you.. Nothing meant personal here) were griping that it wasn't out yet. Now some of the same day it was rushed. A lot of people's biggest complaints evolve around DT support and lack of effects/amps. Line 6 said from the start that DT amps are not supported and the amps and effects list was posted eerywhere. They did not state when it if any of that would change. My personal opinion is that all of those will change but there is no pronuse. Oh were smart to hold off if those are things important to you. The major issue I see is that the Helix rollout coincides with major OS released from Windows and IOS. This is the big issue I see.
  19. What operating system is your pC using? Unfortunately for Line 6 the Helix rollout has coincided wth new OS rollouts wth Windows and iOS. Both new versions are causing issues.
  20. Ditto on most of the comments above. You need to get to the direct lines from the cabinet mics The Helix is not an amplifier. If I understand your original post your signal was low because you can't push a cab with the Helix. You could set it up for effects only and put it in your current setup but that is a pricey multi effects unit of that is all you use it for. There has to be a snake or inputs elsewhere. Also you will need to set the Helix outputs to mic level of you use the cables currently hooked to cabinet mics. We experienced the hiss others mentioned this morning(not sure why it wasn't there last week) but thanks to these forums I knew to switch the output from line to mic. I used to have a similar issue with my Nova System into amps. What you are currently doing will not work unless you have it set as an effects unit only. If the amp has an effects loop you could set the Helix up as a preamp also. If they absolutely will not go direct putting it in the effects loop of the amp would probably be you best option.
  21. My comments were all before going into the Jackson.
  22. I ran mine in church last week and it was amazing. We might need to know a little more info on the set up but I am guessing you unplugged the microphones xlr cables and went into the XLR outputs of the Helix? You would the need to know if the Sound Tech wanted a line or mic signal and set the Helix outputs accordingly. I set the Helix Vollume about 3/4 up like I do with my Studio monitors. Mine is set to line level. What is puzzling me a bit is even if you were set to mic, you should have been fine if you just plugged into the Jackson mic cables. I would have checked to see if they had a pad in on the board or perhaps had the channel gain extremely low. We still use a large analog board but the principles should be the same if you are digital. If this is not how you were hooked up let us know. I am sure we can help.
  23. I had a similar issue. Lost all volume until a reboot . I also had a total system lock up,today. I had sound but couldn't change or adjust anything. Both times I had been editing. A reboot fixed it and I did not lose and of my edits.
  24. I love the Optical trem. It is one of my favorite. Most of my older and boutique teens did not have tap so I am good with it but I understand those that are used to tap.
  25. I need the read up on irs. No idea what I am doing. You grabbed a free pack to play with.
