  1. Can updates be done with a flash drive?
  2. Very nice. I can't wait to get mine. I have a new Variax Standard. Any quick suggestions for a good acoustic tone with it and the Helix. I already planned on compression and a touch of reverb. I imagine eq also.
  3. Ya. It was cool. Also check out this....best demo ofmsome cleans stuff yet.https://youtu.be/MO00YX4wIT8
  4. I have to agree with you. This is not your Pod. I understand this is more than the HD and I understand that many can't afford this. But this is not a POD HD. It is designed for the professional marker but is still at a price point some of us can afford. If this turns out as sweet as it seems I won't mind shelling out more an amp pack if it has something I want. They can't put in every boutique amp on the market either.
  5. I am sure some of this will happen. And those that will complain because it isn't t like sitting in front of your amp. I really think the hype will be real
  6. I thought I would start a section solely for recording discussion. While there is already stuff in here it is pretty spread out. It will be nice to have a dedicated thread. My first question is more of a newbie question for Apple users. I have always been a Windows guy. I am not going to be doing a ton of recording to start. It will just be little demos and clips for writing. Would an IPod with Garage band do this for me? I am thinking it would be a lot cheaper than buy a new Windows recording pc then buying the software. I have never owned an apple product in my life. And is there any Line 6 recording software included? I had some I used wth my old laptop but I can't remember if it was with my X3 live or it came with the old Tone port I had
  7. I didn't get the discount since I ordered so long ago but that is probably why they gave me so much off of my monitors, expression pedal and a bunch of accessories i ordered for other stuff. I called and added it to my order and wondered why they gave me $40 off the expression pedal alone.
  8. I talked to Sweetwater a few minutes ago. I did make it in the first shipment. Hurray. They got notice that their shipment left Newark yesterday and they are on the way to them. They said if all goes as planned I should have mine by the middle or end of next week. I guess they are getting 300 first batch and all are sold.
  9. Yikes! I hope I squeaked into the first shipment. 🙠if not, oh well
  10. Ok guys. Release date does not equal ship date. Sometimes vendors have products as are told at release date they vs ship. Depending on the vendor, they may or may not be processed to go out the door on that date. Other times they do not leave the warehouse until release date which adds shipping and processing time before they go out the door. As I stated pior, Sweetwater said October 2 for shipping the last I talked to them. That signified a short two week delay as others are stating.
  11. I think every retailer has more preorders than units coming in. That is most likely why we see dates change from vendors all the time. It is also possible some will not get as many the first order which changes things also. When I worked retail many years ago it seemed like everytime a new product was drawing attention we got less than anticipated initially. Line 6 has stood firm on the end of summer with no actual date. I believe we will see some hit the stores by the end of this week.
  12. They will do it either way. I told them just to charge me so it was out of my account. I talked to my rep again today. He told me that they are getting a small shipment in the end of September and they should ship the first week of October. A much larger shipment is arriving the end of October shipping to customers early November.
  13. While I understand delays and such, I am starting to think offering preorders is a bad idea. It only angers people when it keeps getting pushed back. Granted, in this case, Line 6 is not backing off their responses to customers. The anger will come when the vendors are correct. Most of the time the vendors are spot on. When Sweetwater or others offer to refund your payment and charge you when it ships instead then obviously they have been told something. I do not know if the comment about Fractal making more updates before this is released has validity since we have no idea how well helix will perform yet.
  14. It is very possible those of us that got a call from Sweetwater missed the initial shipment. My rep didn't state that but who knows
  15. They called me and told me as well. One thing to keep in mind is that its only a 9 day delay of the dates holds true. I wondered if they might do a limited releasw on the 23rd of say 100 units. If no big issues pop up then a big release the next week.
  16. How will it update firmware then? I just assumed all Line 6 did it via Monkey
  17. Ha ha. Yes. I am not concerned either way. My rep is Andy Rice. He has always been very good to me. He wouldn't have wasted time calling if he hadn't been told this. But like you all say, who knows. So much is flying about.
  18. All purely speculation.
  19. That could well be. I am not upset. Just passing on what he daid. To paraphrase him, Line 6 called Sweetwater to inform them if the delay and he was calling all his preorder customers to inform. I think they did right. I would rather know than keep expecting one in a couple weeks and not getting one. I suppose it is also possible a limited number are going out earlier. They could then check out a issues and push out firmware update for the main release.
  20. Got a call from Sweetwater two minutes ago. Release pushed back until October
  21. My word of the day came from Sweetwater. I just got a call from my rep. The Helix release is officially pushed back to October 1st.
  22. I think Pod user still think of this as the next POD and expect prices to be similar. But pod was not even close to Axefx or Kemper. This is not meant as disrespect to Line 6. They produced a very nice modeling effect for the masses. With Helix they have entered the realm of modeling for the professional and serious enthusiast. And despite what some are saying, it is coming out at a price point lower than its competitors. If this is as good as the videos they could easily have added $200 to $300 and pitted it directly against Kemper. Fractal gets their price because they were the only game in town at their level. They may need to rethink their prices but with acts like Brit Floyd among others using Axfx they have a foothold.
  23. Agreed. That is basically my idea. I hope everything in it is high enough quality that I never have to drag my amp and pedal board around. At 53 years old I now just play in church, a very rare event out, and I want to do a some recording without spending a small fortune on racks and pedals. I saw Brit Floyd this past Friday. They use AxeFx. I thought how nice it must be not to worry about amps and pedal boards. I hope this does the same for me.
