  1. Thanks! Its great that we are finally getting to the point where this is even possible in a satisfying way. Where latency and sound quality concerns can be set aside so you can really just be creative. Its cool that these guys I play with I never met in person and found them through this online offering.

  4. I used the SPDIF but I like the channel preamps better.
  5. I have this setup and both aes and spdif work. I use the spdif option to the audio interface
  6. I would say that the reported is present in the helix. Not sure if its a fiz or squawk but for sure if you remove all effects you can hear it clearly :(
  7. That rocks!...everyone should be using jamkazam.com ...no need to go anywhere for rehearsal.
  8. Yeah so everything works witg monkey and the usb interface but with helix nothing..i get tge error..tge firmware for variax is tge latest
  9. Hi All Ok So i am losing my mind trying to get Helix and Variax JTV 69 working. I installed a brand new Windows 10 install and no matter what always get 'The connected Variax is not compatible with Workbench HD. You must use a James Tylers Variax version 2.0 or higher' so I go and disconnect the Variax completely and get the exact same error so it appears that really the message is bogus. I have the supplied VDI cable and have tried several CAT 5 and Cat 5 E cables still always get the same error. Does any know exactly why this doesnt work? Does having Line 6 POD HD 500 installed as well as helix cause this? I did not try uninstalling Line 6 monkey but did disconnect the line 6 POD 500. I just cant figure out how this doesnt work and why my system only FYI Line 6 Support says they have no idea and it 'should work;! Tried with and without battery, multiple cat 5 cables and vdi supplied cable. Disconnected POD 500 checked settings on Helix. Here is my Black Friday recording with 2.30 firmware https://hearthis.at/...ive-11-24-2017/

    2 30 update

Hi 2 30 update. Sounds much different than the previous. One thing the new 2 30 edit does not remove 2.21 edit..that was not expected. On a positive the new distortion crawford is awesome!
  14. Ah ok shooting for end of Nov and then again in Jan 2018. I totally get combing the code base so you can realistically manage the products based around Helix. I am really really hoping that we can get to a point where the amp models are the focus as sure there are many models in the selections for Helix but I find that these models dont sound as rich and featured as some others available from some company's. I think I get a pretty decent sound but find the amp and cab or even using an IR doesn't sound and feel like a great amp. Maybe my expectations are not realistic ..but when I check the amp cabs ...almost every single one do not sound good until I add effects. EQ, mics, dual setups. I am specifically talking about more high gain lead tone and distortion but I just want the basic amp to sound and feel good and I find myself not getting that out of any of the models without a huge amount of effort. Here is a fairly recent tone in my setup: Dual channel Soldano lead left Rectifier Lead right Muliband compressor inline before amp stage Screamer distortion before compressor Cabs soldano and modern 4 x 12 EQ Multiband Effects, Phaser, Flanger, Stereo Delay, Reverb Listen here:
  15. This dual tone is cool too (bumping up)...in fairness the pads are HD500..couldnt sell it so basically use it for pads stuff..
  16. https://global.focusrite.com/firewire-audio-interfaces/liquid-saffire-56
  17. A Focusrite Liquid 56 (Its connected via Firewire)
  18. Regarding 'My primary main reason for using a dual amp patch is the tone I get from it' Exactly, I like the dual amps and that they respond differently depending on how much I attenuated the input to each amp...as I back off it you can hear a cool panning
  19. @Joepeggio its jamkazam.com ..once you get everything dialed in (requires a low latency audio device and Helix is NOT low latency) basically that means a usb or fw device that can get down to 32 buffer size (about 2-8 ms) ..its awesome.. we have reported one way delay around 28 ms between each player
  20. 'If you connect Helix to your DAW via usb, connect your monitors to the Helix, then there is zero latency' Yeah zero latency IF you monitor using direct monitoring. Thats useless if you do overdubs or you use an application for playing live over the internet.
  21. Regarding'That would be an interesting show... I'm imagining maybe 3 screens.... A screen in the middle with the video, a screen on the left for drums, and a screen on the right for the bass player, with you in front of it all on the stage.... All playing live for an audience. Even better if it was 1 show in 3 cities at the same time for each artist.. A) You can actually do that with the software we use, you can stream to facebook or youtube and its hd video (three boxes with multiple layouts) the only thing is it looks webcam' ish so we dont use the video very often for performance, we do use it sometimes to see each other and get visual queues. Thanks for the comments..we have been doing this online jams for a few years now and finally getting to a very satisfying result.
