  1. Perhaps. But I often find that when you change the amplification system from one type to another, every modeler I've ever had has needed some adjustments to the patches to compensate for whatever the new amplification system is doing or not doing. Every amplification system has different needs so you have to adjust more parameters than just the models and cabs being turned off. If your amp has an effects loop, you may want to use 4CM. But what if the patches you use don't normally use the Helix's effects loops? Depending on how many effects you're running, you'll likely have to reorganize your signal chain. Then there are the effects on the Helix and how their sound will absolutely change when you change amplification systems. You're going to want to adjust them too. It has been my experience that this is just unavoidable. You may as well make specific patches for different amplification systems.
  2. Hmmm... this effectively makes the Helix the Master Clock of your DAW. I wonder how good its jitter rate is.
  3. If it's just a clean boost you're after, the gain block should do just fine.
  4. I might at that, roscoe5. I was looking at it earlier today.
  5. I can see it now a new amp model that utilizes a cascade of 12AU7s, a power section combo of KT-88s and EL-84s... Why? just because you can. It'd be sooo fun to mess with!!
  6. OK found out how to change the title.
  7. Thanks for the upvote. And yes, I know this will be a big job, but I think it'll be worth it.
  8. OK changed it to "Amp Builder/Creator"
  9. I like it! Now I wonder if I still have time to edit the title...
  10. Good point. I just couldn't think of one at the time. Oh and thanks for the upvote!
  11. I'm really just hoping for the Dumble... well ok, and the Deacy.
  12. Don't know about Bias. I've never used it. But even if it did the amps you create in Bias can't be used in the Helix.
  13. Here's what I propose; An app that would allow us to "design" our own tube amps that we can upload onto the Helix and share with other Helix users. The amp would allow us to mix and match all components of an amp and its design paradigms (Fender, Marshall, Boogie, etc.) and swap out tubes, caps, resistors, pot values, negative feedback amount and "power supply" robustness (sag/tightness). Mix and match manufacturer designs between preamp and power amp. All without the danger of electrocution and being able to ignore most the laws of physics and electricity. I'm thinking of this as something along the lines of the Variax Workbench. You don't have to understand electronics and tube design, just be willing to experiment. I'd be willing to buy this app. It doesn't need to be free. Please upvote it. http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Amp-Developer-App/841518-23508
  14. Expression Pedal Scribble Strip Bug in 2.0. Well, mine's slightly erratic. On some of my patches, sometimes the Expression Pedal Scribble Strip will momentarily show "EXP1 EXP2" and then followed by the name I've given it for that patch (Usually just "Volume"). But if I let it sit there a minute and switch to another patch, it'll say "EXP1 EXP2" again. So if like me, it used to bug you when the old VCR would endlessly blink "12:00", you'd want to fix it... Alas... It doesn't seem worth it to go through another root canal of updating to 2.01.

    I want this!!

You seem determined to drag this subject into the recording environment. That's not why I'm interested in the Doubler Effect. The whole point behind this discussion is to be able to have the doubling effect for LIVE use. If I want a doubling effect in the studio, I'll actually double track it. If it doesn't work or muddies up the mix I won't use the double track - same goes for live use. I just don't get your point in belaboring the subject from a recording point of view. I repeat, we're talking about live use. From your standpoint, it sounds like we shouldn't even be using a chorus effect. Do you not understand that doubling a track is essentially creating a more natural sounding chorus effect? Do you want to use it all the time? No, of course not. So again, I ask, what's your point?
  16. Without sound design, movies and TV shows would be pretty durned boring. I envy the imagination of the folks who do it well.
