  1. The there is also the fact that many Leslie cab tones from different bands sound very different to me. For example I think of Leslie tones from the Badfinger song No Matter what, versus the sound that Pat Travers had on the live go for what you know record (that don't sounds much like an organ like the Badfinger song does). Then there was this Canadian band Wireless that had some excellent Leslie tones that sounds like an organ in many places. It is the Badfinger and Wireless tones that I would like to get, but I haven't really tried yet (those sounds have this organic sound that no Leslie simulator that doesn't have an actual rotating speaker can seem emulate that well). -Max
  2. I didn't try to get anything that subtle on the Leslie when I was playing with it (plus my tone was way brighter than that). -Max
  3. Did it reset all of the globals? I found that previous updates reset all the global parameters on my unit. -Max
  4. What I did that I think sounds pretty good is to put an amp block and then a cab or IR and drag it down to 1B and then put another cab or IR on 1A (signal splits after amp to two cabs). Then on path 1B put the leslie and set up switch so that it turns off the cab and turns on the Leslie. I am not sure how authentic it sounds but I sure thought it sounded good to my old ears. -Max
  5. The Ownhammer sounded smoother to me, I wonder if the IR he chose used a warmer mic like a ribbon. -Max
  6. The term "Stupid Fun" was used to describe the next Helix FW update, so I imagine it will be more than just an editor update to a non-beta version. -Max
  7. I used to run my HD500 into the power amp of a spydervalve it always sounded pretty good. These days I use Line6 L2 speakers. -Max
  8. The first thing I thought when the OP described the tone is that he was using an amp only with no speaker cab block. Doing that would give just the sort of sound he described. -Max
  9. I notice that a lot of complaints about the tuner only mention the green color and fail to mention the more important brackets that appear when the string is in tune. Is it possible that some of these users are failing to notice the brackets and therefore are not using the tuner correctly? -Max
  10. I just got notified by UPS that they have delivered my Helix to Line6 for repair. Lets see how long it takes for me to get my unit back. So far most people are reporting 1-2 weeks for repairs. I think I may be experiencing Helix withdraw. -Max
  11. UPS picked up my Helix, so it is on the way to Line6 for repair. I really miss it already. -Max
  12. I really like the Line6 L2 speaker for the Helix. I own three of them (two for vocal monitors) and they are really amazing powered speakers. -Max
  13. I was contacted by Frank at line 6 that even offered to send me a loaner unit while mine gets repaired. Amazing customer support from Line 6! -Max
  14. I have an old M-13 but it won't power up any more and I sold off all my pedals except for a tube screamer. I think I get through rehearsal with my Fender Supersonic and a tube screamer, it will be very basic but it is just rehearsal I guess. -Max
  15. That is how I was thinking also. I can still use my unit fine with the edit application but I am now afraid I might have an overall poorly manufactured unit, sort of like the occasional "Lemon" that a car manufacturer will put out where one in every several thousand just isn't right. I guess I am just really bummed out that I have to be without it for a while. At least I have several pretty decent amps to use. Should I pull out the Fender Supersonic or the old Traynor YBA-1 head? -Max
  16. That is very encouraging to hear. They are in California and I am in Washington, so it should only take about 1-2 days shipping time. Waiting for an RMA after I uploaded a copy of my receipt. -Max
  17. Damn it, the unit is broken and I have to send it in for repairs and be without it for potentially weeks on end. I am not a happy camper and am sort of regretting that I purchased it now (maybe should have waited a year for them to work the bugs out). My HD500 is gone and I don't really have a rig to play through now. I had a similar experience with my first JTV-59 but since I bought it at a store versus online I was able to take it back to the store for an exchange. If it wasn't so expensive I would just live with it since I can still use it with the editor, but for that price failing after about two weeks is just a huge let down. Was I just unlucky again or is there a high infant mortality rate for these joystick controllers? -Max
  18. It doesn't feel like a regular strat neck to me, but it isn't uncomfortable. I use the JTV-69 mostly as a backup guitar, the 59 just fits my hands better. -Max
  19. My joystick scroll stopped working and I just opened a ticket. -Max
  20. I love my two JTV guitars, I have both the 59 and a 69. I have about 25 guitars in my collection and the JTVs have been the only guitars I take out in the last few years. If I ever find a great deal on another 59 I will buy one, that guitar just feels like it was custom built for my hands. -Max
  21. I created a support ticket for the problem. -Max
  22. It usually means switch the power off then on again. -Max
  23. I already tried several different reset combinations and also re-installed 1.10. I guess I will have to submit a ticket when I get home and have access to the serial number on the unit. With the editor I don't need to use the joystick scroll function very often, but at the price I paid for this unit I expect it all to work. I will not be a happy camper if I have to send it back for repair. In fact I will probably just live with it if my only other option is to send it in for repair and be without it for an extended period of time. -Max
  24. I tweaked his patches a bit for my gig. I mostly used his Clean and JCM-800 patches. There was too much delay in the tones for my classic rock gig and I tamed the amount of gain on the JCM-800 to better fit 60s and 70s rock. With the dual amps and drive pedals in those patches I was able to cover a lot of ground with one patch. -Max
  25. I was editing a sound on my Helix floor unit and all of a sudden I noticed that the joystick no longer does anything when I turn the knob. Did I somehow configure my unit to not use the joystick for scrolling or is my joystick broken? I wanted to check with users here before I submit a ticket in case I just disabled it myself. I have version 1.10 firmware in my Helix. -Max
