  1. I have posted this a few times before. When the 5150 was released the term "can of bees" was used to describe the sound of the amp by many. I think that means that they probably modeled an original. -Max
  2. I think the bitterness and attitude you show off in your post has turned everyone off from taking you serious. Ever heard the maxim about catching more flies with honey than vinegar? -Max
  3. If I get some time this weekend I will try and load up this set list and create a simple excel file that lists the amp, guitar, and effects in each patch. I am sure it will be useful to others. -Max
  4. Layla was recorded using tweed champ amps, so there must be some good tone to be found in those little monsters. -Max
  5. I hear you Tboneous. I rarely see people creating tones for the HD500 or even wanting to create tones that I am into. I guess it also happens that all of those guys are tremendous players and even with their basic tone I would never sound like them. -Max
  6. Try the amp/line switch it will change the strength of the signal hitting your power amp. You might be clipping the input of your power amp. -Max
  7. A simple Excel file that lists what amp, cab, guitar, and effects for each preset would be helpful. I think the parameters of each effect would be overkill. -Max
  8. Ok, I guess it is up to the user community to document these. I know I don't have the time to go through all of them. I might load them up someday to play around and see if any of them give me a good starting point to develop a tone. -Max
  9. Silverhead, I am sure you weren't being condescending on purpose, I must not have written my responses well. My request was simply and precisely for a list of what those presets contain, not a file I have to download and load into HD edit, and extract all the information one preset at a time, which I can't do from work where I am at for most of the day. I actually didn't think it was unreasonable to think that Line 6 has actually documented these presets or set lists in a text format somewhere that users can access them. So are you telling me that Line 6 doesn't have a document that describes the presets on file anywhere, or is this information just not for public dissemination? I work in software development and the thought that something like these presets and set lists not being documented is mind boggling. -Max
  10. I didn't really want to have to download the package just to see if there was anything that interested me. So far I have not used a single preset tone that comes with HD500, so I doubt that I would end up using any of them anyway. I do however use a JTV variax for gigging. -Max
  11. The link didn't do anything for me, just a non-responsive Mega web page. -Max
  12. Can anyone post information on what this new Variax set list contains? From the name it appears to be preset tones using a Variax, but I would love to see some details on what they are. What amps and Variax modeled guitars, etc.. -Max
  13. Rolling back the firmware if I discover a problem in the middle of a gig is just not feasible. If I just used the thing for playing at home I would have no problem with updating now, but I depend on this thing for a gigs. -Max
  14. I just bought a used JTV 69 from a local guy and it has the older firmware as he liked the strat sounds in the older firmware better. I bought it as a backup to my JTV 59. My question is am I going to have any issues updating the firmware for this guitar? Does he have to unregister the guitar or anything before I attempt to update the firmware? I asked him if he registered the guitar after he bought it and he said that he didn't think so. I asked him if he could go to his Line6 account and somehow indicate that he sold this instrument, but he seemed reluctant to do it and I think he probably won't do it. -Max
  15. OK, guys get your HD500 units updated and start testing this update for me. :P I will wait at least a month for any possible bugs to fall out I think. -Max
  16. Excellent! I won't however be updating my unit until the rest of you test it real good for me :D -Max
  17. I love my JTV 59 also. For me, the neck is perfect and the whole guitar just feels right to me. I just picked up a used JTV 69 for $450 last night. It was too good of a deal to pass up. Funny thing is the guy I bought it from is a new member in the band that our current singer left about a year ago. -Max
  18. It appears that you have proven that the noise is coming from your guitar and not the HD500. Are you playing something like a Stratocaster with single coil pickups by any chance? Single coil pickups are so good at picking up noise and hum that someone went and incented the humbucking pickup. I found that at bar gigs you really have to turn off any neon signs that are too close to the stage if anybody in the band uses single coil pickups. -Max
  19. Gotta have something for the sub woofer to reproduce right? -Max
  20. We often run a send from the bass to the P.A. We really don't want to have to use massive stage volume to fill the room with sound. -Max
  21. If I remember right Clapton's Layla record was recorded using Fender tweed champ amps for the guitars. I think they got some good tones on that record. -Max
  22. I don't think he is talking about us. Do you guys make costumes? (check the spelling in the title). -Max
  23. I did just that the other day when recording some guitar parts for a demo. I had our other guitarist just hook his pedal board into the input of my HD500 for recording. It let him use his overdrive pedals but still go direct to the recorder. It worked great! -Max
  24. It was also described by many when it came out as sounding like a can of bees. -Max
