  1. I just bought two L2m speakers to use as stage monitors and I got a better deal than when i bought my first L2m. I still want a L3s and couple of L3m speakers, just need to find the right deal. -Max
  2. Dang! I should go and buy one as a backup for that price. -Max
  3. I am using the HD500 and the Line 6 L2m speaker. I don't play high gain or metal, but I found getting the 70's AC/DC tone to be very easy. In fact I have found while learning some new tunes for the band, that while playing along I can get an almost identical tone to the recording for most everything our band does from the 60s and 70's. I went from using the HD500 into a tube power amp and speaker cab, but have found that it probably sounds twice as good using the full amp models through the L2m. -Max
  4. I use the L2m for my Dream Rig and it has been working great! I found that the POD set to Studio/Direct and the L2 set to P.A. Reference sounded best to me, it also has the advantage of using the power amp, cab and mic models (if you use any other mode the cab, power amp and mic models are disabled). The Acoustic sounds are good (I just put the vintage pre in the chain with no amp). My Dream Rig is lighter than anything I have used before, is more versatile and is more powerful to boot. -Max
  5. I run JTV-59 -> Pod 500 -> L2m. I use the Variax acoustic and electric models as well as running a guitar synth into another input. This system gives me everything I need in one package. The DT amps are supposed to be great but won't work for acoustic or guitar synth tones. -Max
  6. In the end it comes down to which style of tool you prefer to get your job done. Ever notice how many different styles of hammer you can buy? I play classic rock from the 60s and 70s. My current gigging system is the JTV-59 -> POD500 -> L2m and I also run a guitar with the roland GK-2A into a GR-33 guitar synth for some strings and horns on a few songs. I have to say that without this forum my tones would not be as good as they are now. A POD is more difficult to use that a simple amp, but the results for me are well worth the effort. I have been so Impressed with the L2m speaker, that I am saving pennies to convert my little P.A. over to all Line 6 powered speakers. -Max
  7. I guess you guys missed the tone building video where they were building a Jimmy Page tone and had a foot switch activate the leslie and at the same deactivate the amp model. It seems to sound pretty good in the video. -Max
  8. I had this issue when I was using variax as one input and guitar as the other (guitar synth connected to guitar input). I found that the guitar input was pickup noise and amplifying it. When I switched the other input to Aux it went away.
  9. The Line 6 L2m is working amazingly well for me. It is also lighter than a combo amp or head and speaker can combination. -Max
  10. I know this is a bit of an old topic. A real Leslie is typically used in place of an amp. I need to experiment but it doesn't seem to be very realistic to try and put the Leslie before or after an amp. I think you might want to start with no amp and use the Leslie as the amp. -Max
  11. Try hooking it up to a Line6 L2 or L3 speaker! That is my current system and it is amazing for a cover band. -Max
  12. I have been gigging with my JTV-59 for over a year with no problems yet. I use the POD HD500 to change the settings on the guitar however. -Max
  13. I conformed that the L2m is changing the setting on the POD HD500. I turned on the POD, set the output to Studio/Direct. I then powered up the L2m which is connected via the link cable. As soon as the L2m powers up completely it switches the POD to Combo Stack mode. I really think that this is the wrong default to select for this speaker and wonder what the thinking was behind the decision to use combo stack mode when attached to the L2m. -Max
  14. It sounds like you might be running a guitar with high output humbuckers into the POD. That Bohemian patch was intended for a single coil pickup. If you do have a high output humbucker guitar be sure to use the pad switch on the POD. -Max
  15. By default when the L2m sees the HD500 it will set itself to electric guitar which is not the setting you want to use if you want to use the full amp and speaker models. You have to change the speaker setting to P.A. reference and save for each patch you set up. I have tried saving each patch after setting the HD500 to Studio/Direct but it keeps getting switched back to combo/stack which sounds like lollipop. It seems to me that Line 6 really chose the wrong defaults for POD500 -> L2m. Why would you want to use only preamp models with the single cab emulation on the speaker? The POD sounds amazing with the full amp and speaker models running into the speaker in P.A. reference mode. -Max
  16. It seems that the when I have the POD HD500 connected to a L2m speaker via the link cable that the POD is being forced into combo/stack output mode. I have tried saving this setting with my resets but when I power up the L2m the POD switches to combo/stack which is highly annoying, as I have remember to change the output mode every time I power up my system. Is there some way to prevent this from happening? -Max
  17. I have found that if the Drive and or distortion tones sound really buzzy and just bad, that is probably the POD set for the wrong output mode. Anytime my POD is not set for Studio/Direct and I play anything with distortion through my L2m it sounds really bad (sort of like what you are describing). -Max
  18. I have found that to me it sounds best with the POD set to Studio/Direct (so that the power amp, cab, and mic modeling come into play) and P.A./Reference on the speaker. I have not found any other settings that sounds better and it has the advantage of being able to tweak the power amp, cab, and mic settings. -Max
  19. I can't imagine going on a tour without backup gear and you had backup gear and it saved you. Anything can break and more complicated the device the more possible points of failure. My experience has been that if the device in question works for more than a week out of the box it will probably be fine. I am not sure if it is a question of burn in time or not performing any burn in on these devices. Also gear such as this is much more sensitive to bad voltage or current, and spikes can damage or destroy this type of gear. Low voltage can cause reboots and all sorts of crazy stuff. My experiences with a POD 500 and L2m have been great with no breakdowns. -Max
  20. I myself have found that running any POD into into any guitar amp either the front end or into the power section doesn't produce the best results for these devices. I spent a lot of time running it through various amps (the best result I got was into the tube power amp in on a line6 spyder valve). However when I put the thing in Studio/Direct mode and connected it to a Line 6 L2m speaker I finally got the full sound that this thing can create and I have to tell you, for me it is flat out awesome! -Max
  21. I had thought that the output mode setting would be saved, but I notice that when I power up my HD500 the output mode gets set to Stack, which sounds really bad into a L2m. I do have the HD500 connected to the L2m via the L6 link, could that connection be causing my POD500 output mode to change? I know that the connection will cause the speaker to change to electric guitar until you save the preset with the proper speaker mode selected. -Max
  22. The problem ended up being that the POD HD500 had not saved my setting of studio/Direct and had reverted back to a different setting. I set it back and turned the unit off and back on and still had to set it again. I don't think I was saving the setting right as now it seems to be saving that setting. It sounds great with the Line 6 L2m speaker when set to the proper mode! -Max
  23. I am moving from using my POD HD500 in front of a tuber amp power section and speaker cab to using a Line 6 L2m speaker. So far my clean and slightly driven clean tones are sounding great. However my attempts at making a good classic rock crunch sounds like 70s AC/DC, Aerosmith and so on end up sounding buzzy or like a bad transistor distortion pedal. I am using the direct mode on HD500 and the P.A. reference mode on the speaker and I am using the L6 connect between POD and speaker. I have been mostly trying to get this type od sound with the Marshall type amps and a tube screamer in front but it just isn't working for me. Anyone have some tips or a pointer to a good file that I can use a s a starting point? This is the last type of tone I need to get right for me to be happy with this set up. -Max
