It is in the setup menu. Hold down the view and then scroll. I think it might be the 8th setup menu. -Max

Line 6, don't send me an email saying it's ready, when it's not ready

If I didn't read these forums daily I probably would have been fooled by the email. -Max -
L3t As A Bass Amp?
maxnew40 replied to casparello's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
We ran a test with an L2 on Saturday. It was a Fender Jazz bass into a PODHD500 set to the ampeg flip top model into the L2m. We found that it was able to get quite loud and I did not hear the speakers farting out. In the end my wife decided that if she could get the L3t with the mixer inputs that she could probably run her bass straight into a mixer channel and get a sound that she would be happy with. It was really punchy (could be due to the amount of power it has). We play 60s and 70s classic rock in mostly small bars and clubs, so we don't need massive amounts of volume. -Max -
It would have been nice to hear some non-metal guitar playing on those vintage amps. That style of playing probably doesn't do some of those vintage amps justice. -Max

Leesteel, Necks are such a personal thing on guitars. For me the JTV 59 has the best feeling neck of any guitar I have owned. I have always been more comfortable on a Les Paul neck than a strat neck though. -Max

I work in software development and I don't find this odd at all. The development team that writes the code is probably not huge and the testing team needs time to test and are probably not huge either. They probably just don't have a large enough team to do all the work concurrently. -Max

I don't use any amp model with the JTV variax acoustic tones. If I remember right I use the tube compressor and the studio EQ and that is it. I think it sounds great through my L2 speaker and it also sits well in a mix with the band. -Max

BigBob, not sure about feedback as I don't use it. I can't imagine that it wouldn't unless you are using a Stagesourse speaker with feedback suppression turned on. -Max

I have the HD500 also, but I would not have rushed out and updated firmware until a month or so after release. There needs to be a little time for any bugs to get worked out. -Max

Hmm maybe I just need new shoes :D -Max

I had heard that peavey amp described as sounding a like a can of bees. I would expect that it would have had a decent amount of gain on tap. -Max

Leesteel. I have triggered the looper in the middle of a song before also. I will try the rubber band suggestion for sure. I do use the looper function when learning a songs. I can loop the rhythm and then practice the solo over that. -Max

Put a tube screamer in front of the amp with no drive and just use the volume of the tube screamer to goose the front end of the amp. It works wonders for a lot of the amps. -Max

I am selling a couple of amps but there are few tube amps I own that I won't let go of. I don't plan to gig with them anymore though. -Max

If it were recessed far enough it would be good, but I never missed having power switches on my stomp boxes either. I had to unplug every single one of them to keep the batteries from dying. -Max

I don't want or need a power switch that could get bumped into the off position in the middle of a song. I already secure the power connector so that doesn't happen. The switch would be of more use to people that don't gig with them, for many of us that gig with these things the missing power switch can be seen as a useful feature. -Max

I like my FRFR so much that I am selling my tube amp and speaker cab. -Max

I think Brian Adams was a strat guy back then. If you don't have single coils you won't ever get all the way there. -Max

I don't play high gain at all and this guide was still very helpful! -Max

As far as volume is concerned, I have no problems using one L2 for rehearsals and gigs. These things can get LOUD. I put mine on a speaker stand about head height because I don't have any ears in my knees. Being up at head height makes a big difference in how well I can hear myself onstage. I went from a 100 watt tube head and 2 X 12 speaker cab and I have no problems getting just as loud at a gig with the L2 as I did with the tube amp. -Max

I experienced a static noise from one of my speaker this weekend. It turned out to be one of the cables feeding the audio signal to the speaker. The problem was solved as soon as I replaced that cable. -Max

My wife and were talking this weekend and she has given me the OK to purchase the MD20 mixer. We are in the process of upgrading our P.A. system with the L2 and L3 speakers. No one has one in stock local. It seems that Guitar Center is no longer stocking the stagesource gear (only special order, not in stock). Do you all have a preferred dealer in the U.S.? Is there anything I should be thinking about before buying this mixer? -Max

I use the Line6 L2m speaker and one big advantage for me is the L6 Link digital connection between the HD500 and the speaker. Only the Line 6 speaker has this connection. -Max

I can't help with what makes people unhappy with the HD500. I can only add another data point for people who use and are happy with the HD500. I use my HD500 for live performance gigging and about once in a blue moon to record with. I have the Dream Rig of Variax JTV -> POD HD500 -> L2m Speaker. I play music from the 60s and 70s, no high gain or metal stuff in our sets. My patches tend to be pretty simple. For the most part an amp a tube screamer and some reverb, and a boost at the end for solos (A few songs require effects like a flanger or phaser). Even with my simple patches I have learned a lot and have made them sound better with advice I gleaned from this forum. -Max

I have watched some bands playing 60s and 70s stuff with tons of gain and the tone completely obscured by a whooshing wall of modulation effects (totally ignoring the original tune). I always figured those guys had just bought a new multi-effects unit and haven't figured out how to use it yet. -Max
