  1. Getting the JC120 is very good news! -Max
  2. Just for balance, I have to report that I own three L2m speakers purchased from Guitar Center and none of them have had this issue so far. -Max
  3. I love my Dream Rig with the L2T speaker. I can switch between acoustic and electric tones. I hope you are as happy with your rig as I am with mine. Be sure your HD500 is up to date on the firmware or you may end up having the problem of the POD switching top combo/stack every time it sees the L2 via the L6 link cable. -Max
  4. I seem to be seeing a trend in the people that are unsatisfied with the HD500. It appears to me that often the players that play high gain or heavy metal music are the users that are most unsatisfied. I wonder if the HD500 is just better at more classic amp tones than high gain modern tones? -Max
  5. I heard a rumor that they are replacing the Stagesource speaker line with a new updated line that will be compatible with the previous speakers. :-) -Max
  6. Rick, I currently use a HD500 into a L2 speaker for my guitar rig and can verify that it can get much louder than my collection of tube amps and guitar speaker cabinets. The L2 has only one of those 10 inch speaker and it can kill most tube guitar amps as far as volume and projection goes. My wife's current rig is an 800 watt Mesa hybrid amp and an ampeg classic 4 X10 cabinet which is overkill in most cases. My question was why would bass be any different from guitar as far as using a FRFR powered speaker, with something like a sansamp bass preamp? Worth noting is line 6 has an endorser Abraham Laboriel that uses the L3 as bass amp http://line6.com/news/general/1465/ I also know that a small Markbass combo with one speaker fills the rooms we play real well ( the bass player in a friends band uses one of those and it amazing how loud it is). I am going to try a test sometime this weekend by putting her bass into a preamp and running through one of the L2 that I already have. This should tell if the tone is going to suffer by not using a speaker specifically designed for bass guitar. We can quickly and easily compare her current with the L2 (I expect the L3 to do even better). -Max
  7. Rick, I am not sure I buy your number of speaker argument. In my real life experience an L2 speaker (my current amp rig with HD500) produces more sound volume than a 60 watt tube amp with a 4 X12 or 2 X12 speaker cabinet. If the number of speakers were such a large consideration I would think that that one 10 inch speaker would have no hope of ever keeping up with a 4 X 12 speaker cabinet. We are going to buy a couple of L3 speaker for our P.A. mains anyway, so I will probably have her test one of them out at a band rehearsal. -Max
  8. My wife's current system is a Mesa hybrid head and Ampeg classic SVT 410HLF cabinet with road case. We can run bass in the P.A. if the room is big enough to warrant it. We mostly play smaller bars and private events. -Max
  9. I really want to know if Abe plugs his bass directly into the mixer input of the L3t or if he uses some sort of preamp. My wife is really contemplating this type of system to reduce the weight and size of her bass rig. We play 60s and 70s rock music in local bars and private events. -Max
  10. My wife is looking for a good electric bass solution using a Stagesource L3 speaker. Is there a Line 6 product to use a preamp for her or should I be looking at a sansamp bass preamp, or just an L3t and use the built in mixer? -Max
  11. I have never used it. However I use my HD500 for guitar in a "Dream Rig" in live performance. I use a P.A. for vocals and have not used the HD500 for recording. -Max
  12. My wife plays bass in my band so justifying gear purchases is much easier for me. -Max
  13. sinistralx, I hope you are as happy with your Stagesource speaker as I am with mine. I was so happy with the L2m in my "Dream Rig" that I have since bought two more to use as stage monitors to replace my old passive monitors. -Max
  14. I have three L2m speakers and so far, sot a single case of the dreaded fan rattle. -Max
  15. As far as the dreaded rattle, I am pretty sure it isn't super common. Keep in mind that you will only see users with usisues here and not the thousands of users who never have problems. I now have three L2m speakers and none of them have the rattle problem. -Max
  16. I believe I found the answer to my problem. I was just reading release notes on the various firmware versions and found that version 2.20 fixes the problem with the L2 setting the POD to combo/Stack. Time to update my HD500! -Max
  17. Just got the call that my L2m is waiting for me at guitar center. This will be my third L2m speaker. I use one for my Dream Rig and the other two are for stage monitors. Just waiting for the right deal to get a L3s and couple L3ms to round out our little bar P.A. system. After using one for my guitar rig for few months, I was so impressed I decided to upgrade the entire P.A. system. -Max
  18. I don't see or hear what you describe with my JTV. I play in a 60s and 70s cover band and the other guitarist is playing with vintage a Fender tube amp and Germino plexi clone and nice fender and PRS guitars. He is actually jealous of the Fender Twin and Strat on the bridge pickup tone that I am getting with JTV, POD, L2m system. The guy is tube and vintage gear purist and he admits that my system sounds amazing. -Max
  19. I use a regular tripod speaker stand set up so that my L2m is about the height of my head. I have never heard myself so well, I guess I really don't have ears in my knees where most guitar amps direct the sound. -Max
  20. I checked my Hd500 and it is running version 2.10. I wonder now if there has been some changes in the way the L2m behaves? It does appear that the L2m is forcing the HD500 into Combo/Stack when it connected via the L6 Link. This is annoying as I have to remember to switch this back to studio/direct at every gig and rehearsal. -Max
  21. I still need to check the firmware version on my HD500. Currently I can have my HD500 configured for Studio/Direct. I can power the HD500 down and back up and the Studio/Direct mode is preserved. As soon as the L2m is connected via the L6 link and the speaker is powered on you can see the output mode on the HD500 switch to Combo/Stack. I will see if my unit needs a firmware upgrade and report back on my results. -Max
  22. I will have to check my firmware version to see if I am up to the current level. -Max
  23. Blackface double Park 75 I play 60s and 70s rock. -Max
  24. I have the older HD500 not the newer HD500X. I haven't found any way for the Studio/Direct mode to stick. As soon as the HD500 sees the L2m speaker on the Link connection the POD switches to Combo/Stack. Cruisinon2, Are you using the Line 6 link digital connection between the POD and the L2? It won't switch if you are using one of the other outputs. -Max
  25. I also found that it sounded best to me with the the L2 set to P.A./Reference and the POD set to studio Direct. Keep in mind if you use any of the other output modes on the POD you will bypass the power amp, cab, and mic modelling on the POD. I also found that if you use the link cable that the POD will set it self to Combo/Stack mode and you will need to manually change it back to studio/direct every time you power up the unit connected to the L2. -Max
