And would I be able to send MIDI commands over USB when changing patches?
-
Has anyone tried it live with Amplitube or Guitar Rig?
-
GeiGit, what kind of signal chain are you using with your violin? I like the Hiway into a 112 field coil.
-
IIRC, passive piezo pickups prefer a 10:1 ratio with input impedance. I.E., use a 1meg input load. I go straight in the hd500 with my Barbera 5-string violin pickup. It gives me the best s/n ratio and tone.
-
You could connect the hd500 fx send to the x3 input with no return, and put the fx loop block set to one of fs 1-4, first block in every patch. That way, you can just hit the fs for the loop to send it out to the x3 without ever hitting any of the hd500 amps or effects. Then use a mixer, or di for both units to the board.

Nope. Unless you use it as a recording interface, and watch your peak meters on the computer screen. I would just use headphones to check signal chain, and don't worry about what you can't hear.
-
Full range flat response, which is the new thing for modelers. I would do a side by side comparison of the two way and three way, and use whichever sounds better. More speakers is not always a good thing, especially when they try to fit too much into a small enclosure.
-
Two way is fine for home practice. As for woofer size, that depends on the size of your room. 6" is fine for a normal bedroom. If you're in a dorm or otherwise smaller space, maybe 5". I wouldn't go any bigger, because you're getting into the price range of a decent frfr, which would be better than studio monitors, imo. You also would get exaggerated bass response with larger monitors. I use 6" krk rokits, which I got for mixing. I also have a power engine 60t, but it's too bass heavy in my current room arrangement. I usually play through di, so I stick with making adjustments through the krks, and practice through headphones.

Nevermind. Bad cables.

I'm getting a bad 60Hz hum when sending my FX loop signal through my Firewire interface for some multiband compression. Has anyone else tried this, and dealt with the same problem?
-
I've been using the Source Audio Hot Hand 3 for a little while now, and it's great. The only problem, which I only now noticed, is that I'm getting a hum when using it with my amp. I don't know why an expression input would be introducing noise into the system; I suspect the actual noise is originating from the amp. Any ideas for a workaround? The amp is a Power Engine 60T.

How To Translate Good Headphone Sounds To The Stage?
BlueViolince replied to gitaryzt1985's topic in POD HD
Rule #1: always tweak at full volume. Rule #2: learn the headphones or frfr you are using. My headphones are akg 240s, and I know they are dark, so I adjust accordingly. I never use them when adjusting tone or gain stage. I have a set of ath m50s that are more accurate, but they are better through my recording interface. Headphones are great for practicing, not so good for tone shaping. Rule #3, and this may just be me, but: keep an eq block in your chain that you don't use to get your base tone. I have one eq block in most of my patches, and I also keep a modded GE7 in my violin case at all times. -
That would be the PE60T. You're thinking of the Bronzewood, which was thEir acoustic amp. The 60T was marketed as an extension for the Bronzewood, and the regular 60 went with the Trademark.
-
Yes, wonderful. In the context of this thread, with reference to the newer PE60, has anyone compared the accuracy of the older versions with tweeter and T21 speaker?
-
So, is there a consensus on how accurate the power engine 60T is? I've had mine for years, and it's treated me well so far.I considered building a hinged back for it, because the tone changes a lot based on how far away it is from the wall.

How Do You Use Your Expression Pedal Besides Volume And Wah?
BlueViolince replied to stumblinman's topic in POD HD
That's a really great idea, actually. -
I use the Electro Harmonix pedal bag. It fits perfectly with room for a volume pedal. 40 bucks.

Hiwatt model. 112 field coil cabinet with 4038 ribbon mic, ER and sag at 100 percent. This is what I use for electric violin, so your mileage may vary.

How Do You Use Your Expression Pedal Besides Volume And Wah?
BlueViolince replied to stumblinman's topic in POD HD
I use exp1 to transition from plain acoustic sound to full wet on almost all of my effects. -
Scratch that. Turns out most of my wall warts are the source of the noise. I put the Sniper back into service; great pedal. Too bad Tone Jam is out of biz.
-
I had a sniper ge7 for years, but it suddenly developed a lot of noise after being in storage for a while.

I'm actually considering an eq pedal, now that I think about it. That's one of the one things I always wish I could set globally, and maybe that's the most important thing to keep on hand. Maybe the Source Audio programmable EQ, with 4 presets, or the Boss programmable EQ20. It would be nice to keep presets for my usual venues, plus have the instant global adjustability for any environment.
-
Well, I have heard of that, but it seems an easy fix, if it is similar to boss pedals grounding out from the solder points touching the chassis. Of course, that wouldn't be the only issue with the m5 that I've heard of. I do like that the m5 can be any number of effects, but it wouldnt add anything new to my setup. Any members here have good results with a Zoom multi pedal?
-
If you were going to put one pedal in your fx loop, what would it be, and why? I'm considering a whammy 5, but maybe an M5, or something else similarly versatile.
-
Okay, so it came in, and I finally got to mess with it. I have it set to trigger delay feedback, from 0% at my low c string, to 70% at my high e string, based on my bow angle. Really cool. It keeps everything tighter in the lower registers, but lets the high notes echo out. I may also program my eq to keep the higher strings nice and full-sounding, while containing the bass on the low strings. This could become an integral part of my rig. Due to violin-specific hand motions, this is another piece of gear that is totally different for us from how a guitarist may use it, but the amount of usability is comparable. More subtle, so far, but definitely worth the coin.
