Glad you’ve got it sorted out.

Global Settings -> Switches/Pedals. Experiment with the Pedal Position options and see if that gives you what you want.
-
You can use the Swap or the Copy/Paste method. To Swap snapshots touch (don’t press) the two snapshot switches until a dialogue box appears. Press OK to complete the Swap. To Copy/Paste snapshots see manual. There are a few steps involved.

Use Workbench HD. You can export/import the entire bundle of presets (Variax models). If you don’t already have it installed you can download it from the Downloads section of this website (see top of this page). Connect your JTV-59 first, open Workbench HD and export the JTV bundle to a file on your computer. Then close Workbench HD, disconnect the JTV, connect the Shuriken, and restart Workbench HD. If you wish, export the Shuriken bundle for potential future use. Then import the JTV bundle file, which brings all the JTV presets/models into the Workbench HD workspace. Finally, transfer/download all presets/models to the Shuriken guitar.

Best way to identify knob tuning presets?
silverhead replied to ichasedx's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
One more note on this, assuming this will be your first time using stored custom tunings in Helix presets. By default all Helix presets have the Variax Tuning parameter set to Don’t Force. This parameter is preset specific. This means that you will need to reset that parameter value to Custom in those presets where you want to apply your desired stored custom tuning. All good so far. But then when you switch to a preset where you want to go back to standard tuning, the Don’t Force setting in that preset means that the Variax will remain in the custom tuning assigned in the previous preset. Not good. The Solution? You need to set the Variax Tuning parameter in ALL presets to Custom, and there is no global way to do this. You need to manually make the change in every preset, and ensure that all the custom tuning string offsets show 0 (zero) in presets where you want standard tuning to apply. -
Best way to identify knob tuning presets?
silverhead replied to ichasedx's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Yes, of course using custom tunings stored in a Helix preset/snapshot is ideal. From your question and description I thought you wanted a way to identify the tuning being used. The stored preset/snapshot will apply the desired tuning but will not identify it. On the other hand, if all you’re interested in is having the right tuning applied you can use the stored custom tuning in Helix instead of a Custom Tuning on the Variax, in which case your original question may be moot. The Custom Tunings as identified on the tuning knob remain in place on the Variax and the preset-stored custom tuning doesn’t need to match any of them. You don’t need to identify the custom tuning being used, you just need to know with confidence that it is being applied appropriately when you select the preset. And it is! -
Best way to identify knob tuning presets?
silverhead replied to ichasedx's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Interesting question, and one I’ve never considered so the first things that come to mind are: - I wouldn’t do anything permanent because you might want to change the custom tunings again sometime. - I would consider taping a map of the tunings to the top side edge/thickness (not the top surface) of your Variax, where you can easily see it while playing. There you could write the transformations e.g. DADGAD = MyTuning1, indicating that your specific custom tuning is in the knob’s DADGAD position. -
Suggestions for what Guitar models go with Helix amp models
silverhead replied to evolz's topic in Shuriken
There’s no ‘best’ pairing for any amp/guitar models. All pairings work well in the sense that the sound will match the sound of the same pairing of the ‘real’ amp/guitar being modeled. If you mean ‘What pairings will sound familiar to me?’ then you should do a bit of research to find out what pairings were used by the artists who created the familiar sounds. Note that the playing style and skill is very important. Even with the same pairings you may not be able to produce the same sound. If you mean ‘What pairings will I like?’, only you can answer that be experimenting. -
Do you mean ‘repaired’ or ‘restored’? If you need a repair you should open a support ticket. If you just want to restore the factory presets (as stated in the manual): Press and hold the Home / Hold for Commands button for 2 seconds to get to the Commands page. You will see the option to restore the presets. If you want to reinstall the firmware, consult the manual section called USB and Computer Software.

Don’t know if there’s a way but my first reaction is…. why would you want to do that? There’s likely a better and more practical way to do what you want.
-
Yes, search Ideascale to see if this suggestion is already there and add it if not. Another implementation thought….. suppose HX Edit does use local storage for this info and the info is not stored on the Helix device. Also suppose that you use the device (not HX Edit) to reorder your presets - and even rename them. The next time you run HX Edit, how would it even detect, much less be programmed to respond appropriately, to the new preset arrangement on the device? It’s easy to imagine the Notes quickly becoming out of sync with the device. Even if eventually implemented it won’t happen for some time. Meantime, one can develop their own personal method to do this using files on their computer. You might design a database or even use simple text files. In any case, imagine the difficulty of automating whatever manual mechanisms you use to keep the data properly synchronized under the above scenario.
-
I’ve often wanted to do that too. It would be a good suggestion in Ideascale, and it may already be there. There is an implementation hurdle. HX Edit does not currently maintain any permanent data store. It won’t operate without a Helix device connected, and on startup it loads all data from the device. After that it simply sends/receives command to/from the device, where all the data is maintained. That means the Notes data will also have to be included on the device itself, which could lead to a memory capacity issue.

HELIX: Can I turn on/off an effect in a patch while playing?
silverhead replied to mccloysong's topic in Helix
That’s what Snapshots are for. Read up on how to use those - start with the manual. Using snapshots removes the brief audio dropout because there is no need to reload a new patch into working memory - snapshots exist within the patch. You can turn individual FX on/off with no audio gap, and you can control whether to have the FX ‘trails’ on or off (e.g. have the delay repeats continue or not after you turn off the Delay). -
All presets only make a "buzz" sound, no guitar tone

Set your Output to POD Go and make sure your headphones are connected to the POD Go. -
Because these are peer-to-peer user support forums. Line 6 technical support is operated through their support ticket system. It’s actually nobody’s job at Line 6 to participate in these forums except for the overall Customer Support manager who provides an oversight function. They provide this forum platform for their users to help each other. Take a look at the banner at the top of this page titled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums!”.

The model packs are already contained in the device firmware, but are locked. Once you’ve purchased them the License Manager will unlock them and they will be available for use.

Also, there’s a certain procedure involved in migrating your Helix Native preset library.

Helix Update 3.0.1 "Boot Failure, Entered Update Mode!"
silverhead replied to sventydeman's topic in Helix
Since this is your first post I will assume that you haven’t already experienced an update failure and that you are simply trying to update your LT firmware and HX Edit software. To do this, do not follow the above advice (which only applies to recovering from an earlier failed update). What you should do is go to the Downloads page and download and install HX Edit v3.15 using the middle column of selections on the Downloads page. Run the downloaded executable to install all provided components. Then connect your LT to your computer via usb and run the HX Edit program. Log into to your Line 6 account within HX Edit. It should prompt you that an update is available. Follow the instructions from there. -
That’s why I suggested you open a support ticket. You’ll need to talk to Line 6 about this.
-
You can purchase the device-independent version of Pod Farm 2.5 using the SHOP link at the top of this page. That will work with your new Scarlett. I would open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 to ensure that you get the proper version of Pod Farm, as well as to try to argue for some discount based on your existing version. I doubt it but worth a try.

That looks fine to me. It may even be a bit hot. Best way to find out is to download the trial version of Helix Native and experiment.
