Also, there’s a certain procedure involved in migrating your Helix Native preset library.

Helix Update 3.0.1 "Boot Failure, Entered Update Mode!"
silverhead replied to sventydeman's topic in Helix
Since this is your first post I will assume that you haven’t already experienced an update failure and that you are simply trying to update your LT firmware and HX Edit software. To do this, do not follow the above advice (which only applies to recovering from an earlier failed update). What you should do is go to the Downloads page and download and install HX Edit v3.15 using the middle column of selections on the Downloads page. Run the downloaded executable to install all provided components. Then connect your LT to your computer via usb and run the HX Edit program. Log into to your Line 6 account within HX Edit. It should prompt you that an update is available. Follow the instructions from there. -
That’s why I suggested you open a support ticket. You’ll need to talk to Line 6 about this.

You can purchase the device-independent version of Pod Farm 2.5 using the SHOP link at the top of this page. That will work with your new Scarlett. I would open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 to ensure that you get the proper version of Pod Farm, as well as to try to argue for some discount based on your existing version. I doubt it but worth a try.

That looks fine to me. It may even be a bit hot. Best way to find out is to download the trial version of Helix Native and experiment.

5.1 Surround Sound On A UX8?
silverhead replied to TheProfessorVA's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
It would be impossible I think. The audio output of the UX8 is 2-channel stereo L/R only, as I think is common with standard audio interfaces. It has no concept of middle, RL or RR channels. You would be able to route the 2-channel stereo output to 5 different speakers if you wish but you wouldn’t get 5 different sounding channels. -
Are you talking about an external talk box device, or the talk-box FX block in Helix? If the latter, there is a section in the Helix manual called USB Audio. A subsection there describes how to re-amp using your Helix device. If you haven’t already read that, start there and then come back with specific questions if you have any. If you’re talking about an external talk box then just put it in the FX Loop of your Helix and follow the other setup procedures described in the manual.

I don't think it's idiotic. And only some people suck. Don't take it personally; they suck with everyone, not just us. The majority are quite appreciative, and that's worth the effort imho.

Double check that both are at firmware v3.15. Note that HX Edit’s main display shows the firmware version of the connected device. You need to use the About… item in the HX Edit Help menu to determine the version of the HX Edit program. After confirming that, if the problem persists I would uninstall and and reinstall the HX Edit program.

How To Unmute Receiver On Vd75!? Help!
silverhead replied to flynnnolan's topic in XD-V Digital Wireless Microphones
Have you opened a support ticket? -
Assuming you have a copy of the offending hlx file you can use this site to upload it and inspect the preset’s detailed settings so you can manually recreate it. https://hxview.netlify.app/

Check the noise gate on the Input block. Start by turning it off to see it that is the culprit. If so, adjust the settings to give a more pleasant result. If not, check the FX blocks for something similar, like an Autoswell block.

This is a real world phenomenon. The physical amps being modeled have a wide range of ‘normal’ volumes. Imagine you were using real amps and switched instantaneously from an early Fender clean tone amp to a modern hi-gain tone amp. You would expect to have to adjust a knob or two on them to balance the volumes. Same thing in the modeling world. The best way to deal with this is to manually adjust every preset so that your personal tastes in tone and volume levels are balanced. It might sound like a daunting task but you’ll soon find that you settle on a fairly small number of presets that you use. Right now you are experimenting with the factory presets and you will find you like some and hate others. The best thing to do to protect you hearing right now is to turn down the device Master volume before changing presets. When you find a preset you think you would like to copy and edit, do so - and then deal with balancing it against others you have chosen to work with. The best way to balance preset levels is to use the Channel Volume parameter on the amps in the presets. This parameter affects only the volume of the signal. Other amp parameters like Drive or Master also affect the tone. You can also use the Level parameter on the preset’s Output block without affecting tone. Also consider using the volume levels on your monitors, speakers, or headphones. Yes, it’s time consuming but you only need to do it once. Then you have a reference point for all future preset development, and you can proceed from there adjusting only the device Master volume if you move to a different venue or set of speakers.

To reflash the firmware you need Line 6 Monkey and a compatible USB interface (e.g. the one that came with your Shuriken). No way around that to my knowledge. But your description of the problem is vague. Perhaps reflashing is not the answer. What exactly are the symptoms, and what testing of other associated equipment have you done already (e.g. cables, monitors,…)?

Stagescape M20d LCD Repair ?
silverhead replied to davec69's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I agree. I think it’s a shame that Yamaha, after purchasing Line 6, chose to discontinue the L6 branding of digital mixers. Hopefully they have incorporated the better parts of the IP into their own line of digital mixers but I’m not familiar enough with those products to assess that. -
Ahh… right. Sorry for any confusion.

From clean to solo by expression pedal not by snapshot
silverhead replied to claudeu's topic in Helix
Assign both the Drive and Channel Volume parameters to the same expression pedal. Set the Min/Max levels for these parameters in opposite toe/heel directions so that as one level increases the other decreases. I do this in many of my presets. Works well, you just need to experiment with the settings to balance things out properly.- 27 replies

It might be simpler to just use the pre-configured USB 7 or 8 for the dry signal. This way you won’t need to create an additional path/output block in your preset to assign to USB3/4.
-
Right - I am ignoring the rear-panel EXP 1/2 or FS 4/5 jacks for external pedals/switches. While using these for switches to control snapshot assignment and selection is possible it comes at the cost of using expression pedals, which is a cost I personally don’t think is practical. But that’s just me. It is possible. If you want to make your case to have this done you should post the suggestion on Ideascale where Line 6 developers will see it.
-
I expect the HX Stomp will remain at 3 snapshots, primarily because of the 3-switch hardware configuration. The Stomp XL has 4 assignable footswitches. The whole point of snapshots is easy access via footswitch so I doubt there would be more snapshots than switches.

You might also find the chapter called USB Audio in the Helix manual helpful.
-
… and quite separate from your question, you might be interested to know that you can also simultaneously record the dry (unprocessed) inputs from your Helix to your DAW for post-processing using plugins like Helix Native.
-
Yes. You can select the physical input to be used for each Input block in your Helix preset, and you can select the USB channel output in the Output block. Check the Templates setlist in your Helix. You might find useful examples there to copy and tweak.
-
How many inputs do you need to record simultaneously? Perhaps there’s a Helix preset and physical configuration that will support it.
-
You mention a PC so I assume you mean a Windows machine, not Mac. This is normal behaviour on Windows that is a direct result of the ASIO protocol that is used by the Line 6 (and probably Presonus) drivers. It demands that the same audio device be used as both the audio input and output devices, and that only one such device is recognized by a DAW. You can use either the Helix or Presonus device as your interface, but not both simultaneously. I understand it’s different on Mac where an aggregate device can be used.
