  1. Line 6 does not produce audio recording programs. If you are already familiar with audio recording programs use your favourite with the POD Express Bass as your audio interface device (see details on the manual). If you are not already familiar with recording programs do some research and find a free one to start with. GarageBand on Mac or Cakewalk by Bandlab on Windows are popular free entry level programs.
  2. That info is in the Welcome to Line 6 Forums banner near the top of this page.
  3. Begin by downloading and installing the HX Edit package. It seems you may have downloaded the Windows .exe file. Check again for the Mac package. Once installed run the HX Edit program and follow the firmware update prompts. Make sure you are logged into your Line 6 account with your Helix connected via USB.
  4. Yes it’s normal. See my response in the new topic you posted.
  5. You need to balance the volume levels of the two devices: your computer and the POD Go. There are two easy ways to do this: 1) Lower the volume level of your computer. 2) On the POD GO use the Global Settings -> Ins/Outs -> USB Trim parameter (manual pg. 42).
  6. Once you have the device you can attempt to register it to your Line 6 account. To do so click on the Support link at the top of this page. Scroll down the page and you will see the Account Services section. Select Register Gear. If you are able to register it then the serial number is valid. If you encounter a problem open a support ticket or call Line 6. Both methods of contact are described in the Contact Us link in the Support area.
  7. Here’s a quote from the FAQ section of the MF Twister product pages: Is the Twister standalone or do I need a computer? You need a computer. The Twister will work with any computer that has a USB port and supports MIDI. The MidiFighter Twister is a class compliant, plug and play controller.
  8. In the Downloads area I can select Line 6 Edit in the middle/software filed. Leave the Hardware and OS fields empty. Among the presented options select the closest OS to your system and check the compatible devices list.
  9. Obtain the device serial number from the seller. Then contact Line 6 Support and ask 2 questions: - Is this a valid serial number that I will be able to register as the new owner? - Does this device suffer from the input impedance issue? (a known hardware issue in earlier manufacturing cycles that has now been resolved. There is a lifetime warranty for this in affected units, but you will need to have it repaired.) Otherwise, like all used devices, it may have issues that you won’t/can’t discover until you’ve used it for a while. Caveat Emptor.
  10. Click on the Downloads link at the top of this page. Then select POD X3 Live in the hardware field and Drivers in the software field. Choose you OS.
  11. Yes, was thinking the OP is asking about individual string/piezo processing like the Helix/Variax can do. Thanks for your clarification.
  12. Your POD Go, although now behind the curve in your opinion, still has some value on the used market. Perhaps you should sell it and buy another device if it will improve your musical experience.
  13. I don’t believe Helix will recognize any piezo pickups other than their proprietary Variax technology. If your PRS has a standard 1/4” audio output Helix will recognize that in its Guitar Input as it does any other magnetic pickup guitar output. Otherwise, no.
  14. What computer and OS are you using? What version of Helix firmware, HX Edit, and Line 6 driver(s) are you using? Trying to reproduce this behaviour with anything else is meaningless. Or… you could download and install the latest version of everything (known to be compatible) and see if the problem persists. I suspect this is systems compatibility issue with your specific setup. Otherwise it would be a well known bug. I don’t think there’s any reason to believe it’s a hardware issue at this point.
  15. …. which makes me think. Rather than freeing the EQ block I would love to see a firmware update showing a signal chain view that reflects the relative DSP utilization of each block by varying its width. The current display shows all FX blocks to be the same width. I’d love to see, for instance, the Wah, Vol and EQ blocks to be very thin while the width of the flex FX blocks would be thicker or thinner than each other depending on the selected FX. That would complicate the textual labeling in the display but would provide a more intuitive image of what’s going on under the hood. You would be able to visualize why blocks are getting greyed out, and swap out a thick FX with a thinner one to gain the space (DSP) to add an additional one.
  16. I think it would be simple to ‘free’ the EQ slot in terms of removing the firmware constraint. It’s also clear that this would not change the overall DSP available in the device. And since EQ is among the least DSP-intensive blocks it’s unlikely to allow a 5th flex block in the signal chain. In other words you likely won’t be able to replace the EQ block with much else. So while it could be done I don’t think it would have much impact in preset construction. In fact it might simply cause frustration. It would appear that you have an extra block available but when you try to add any FX in that block the options will mostly be greyed out, except for the EQ section. I like to think of dynamic DSP as a bookshelf, and amp/FX blocks as individual books of varying thickness sitting on the floor and organized into different sections. Building a preset involves taking books from the floor and putting them on the shelf. Obviously you can only fit a limited number of books on the shelf. The thicker the books are, the fewer will fit. FX in the amp and cab/IR sections are among the thickest books. Books in the Wah, Vol, and EQ sections are among the thinnest. All other books (FX sections) are of varying thickness but the vast majority are significantly thicker than anything in the EQ section. When the shelf is nearly full removing a thin book like EQ won’t allow you to add a thick book like Delay.
  17. I’m impressed with what AI can do in my very limited experience with it, so I’m curious. What specific features would you like AI to do/enable in the domain of guitar amp/FX processing?
  18. I agree. Even among the same brand/type of physical guitar they can sound different. One individual Les Paul sounds different from another. Same with Strats - that's why many pros may have several different Strats, but one is their favourite (e.g. Clapton's Blackie). To me, the Variax models are just another instance of a specific type of guitar, but many different types in a single instrument.
  19. …. moved to POD HD forum ….
  20. You're welcome. Basic checklist troubleshooting. Here's a tip - for your safety and ours never consider becoming a pilot! (just kidding...)
  21. I’m not sure I understand exactly what you’re tying to do, or expecting to hear. Perhaps I’m confused by your terminology. You seem to be talking as if Tone 1 and Tone 2 are different presets. They’re not. Every preset contains a Tone 1 and Tone 2. We’ve discussed how to record both Tones simultaneously and, not surprisingly, they don’t sound good together since you seem to have constructed them as if they were separate presets. You don’t have to record them to listen to how they sound together. Use the Outputs pages of your X3 Setup section to turn both Tone 1 and Tone 2 ON. Then you will be able to listen to them simultaneously. It should sound the same as your recording - a muddy mess since you created them as separate presets. Tone 1 and Tone 2 are to be used within a single preset to augment each other. For instance if you’re a solo singer/player you can process your vocals and guitar separately and hear them together. Or if you have a Variax you can process two guitars separately but hear them both. Or you can have two independent processing paths for the same guitar. In the latter case (which seems to be what you’re doing) you should build them so that they sound good together or perhaps as the rhythm and lead/solo tones while playing a song. You can, of course, consider them to be completely separate presets and use them accordingly but then don’t expect them to sound good together.
  22. Use the Downloads link at the top of this page. Select HX Edit in the drop down menu of the middle (software) field. Make sure the OS version suits your Mac.
