how to remove looper that now appears in every factory preset
silverhead replied to kevliao's topic in Helix
Maybe you didn't actually somehow add the looper to every factory preset. I don't recall exactly, and I don't have my Helix with me right now, but I know many of the factory presets already have a looper block at the end of the chain. But the factory presets named New Preset are completely empty. Check some of those. If they do have the looper block then you somehow found a way to add a looper globally to all presets, a capability that I don't think exists. I don't know of a way to remove the looper block from multiple presets simultaneously. -
Sonic Port VX - Garage Band Doesn't See It
silverhead replied to Mad_Man_Music's topic in Sonic Port devices / Mobile In
Line 6 provides direct support through their support ticket system. Have you tried that (see Support tab at top of this page, then choose Technical Support). Have you also updated the Mobkile Pod app? -
First off I confess that I have never used a looper during live play. I have often thought it would be fun to do but never invested in an external looper pedal. I have experimented with the looper in the POD HD series but found it unwieldy for live play for two main reasons: - the max loop length was too short for many of my desired loops - the 'mode' design made it virtually impossible to keep the song tempo while switching presets, or even turning FX on/off, to play a lead solo over a loop. The necessary foot tapping was too cumbersome. Now I've been experimenting again with Helix and I've found a setup that seems to eliminate all but one of the above issues (FX on/off). I am finding that the main hurdle now is just the practice required to operate a looper properly when using it live (no pre-recorded loops), whether an external looper pedal or the onboard Helix looper. Here's the setup I use: Helix Global Settings -> Footswitches - Stomp Mode: 8 switches - Up/Down Switches: Presets Presets - organize so that the desired presets during looping are in sequential order, so that you can navigate between them using the Up/Down footswitches - include the same type of Looper (mono/stereo) in each preset to be used, positioned at the end of the chain. For max loop length use a mono looper and half-speed. See the manual for available loop lengths at various settings (30 seconds to 2 minutes). - assign the looper to a footswitch in each preset - choose full or half speed depending on desired loop length. Playing - Enter Looper mode and STAY THERE! All the footswitch controls you need are and will remain available. - get familiar with the switch operations, particularly the difference between PLAY and OVERDUB modes. - Use the UP/DOWN footswitches to change presets as desired. The Looper controls remain available. - the ONCE switch is your very good friend. Use it early during the last repetition of your loop so that you have plenty of time to switch presets and be ready to go at the instant the loop ends (e.g.from the lead solo preset back to your rhythm preset, in which the original loop was recorded). Note: you will be able to switch presets but not turn FX on/off unless you exit Looper mode which, for me, complicates the timing too much, rendering the looper unuseable for live play. You may have to use virtually duplicate presets (one with FX on, the other with it/them OFF) if you need to control FX while looping. Now just practice the Playing section above. You'll need to figure out, and practice, the most suitable sequence and timing of footswitch tapping for each song in order to manage loop recording and playback operations as well as switching presets. But I think this would be required to learn how to use any external looper pedal as well. Hope this helps anyone who wants to experiment with using the looper for live performances.

No, there is no UNDO feature in the HD400 looper.

In reading this thread I don't see anyone mentioning Ideascale. That's the only place where you can influence Line 6. Talking about it here may be interesting but it's not meaningful. Is this suggestion already on Ideascale? If so, post the link so others can vote for it. If not, then someone make the suggestion and post the link.

Have you downloaded and installed the Helix driver (see Support -> Downloads)? Try running Line 6 Updater again with the driver installed and Helix connected. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/how-to-update-the-helixs-firmware-r776

No it doesn't have to be from iTunes. You just have to have the audio files (MP3, WAV, ...) in the right directory on your mobile device.

You're very welcome. I'm sure you will enjoy the L2m. Yes I have a Helix and I agree - most realistic modeller I've ever had. -

Go into Settings -> Privacy. Make sure Sonic Port is activated in the Microphones section. -
L2M L6Link + Line in?
silverhead replied to HelsinkiSound's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Yes that should work. You can balance the levels using the Helix master volume. Are you also feeding the Helix analog outputs to the FOH? If so you may need to fiddle with the Helix settings to make sure the volume knob does not affect the level you are sending the FOH while adjusting the level for the L2m. -

Yes - the Stage Source speakers can receive signals from all inputs simultaneously. -

Glad it's working for you. I wish I could say I've never had a headache from inexplicable interim behaviour that suddenly stops misbehaving. -
HD500X Amp Model Tones/EQ(first plug in with the Band.)
silverhead replied to Old-Rocker's topic in POD HD
Can you bypass the preamp section of your ORANGE and connect the POD output to the power amp section? You will need a Line In or an FX Return jack on the amp. In this case I would use a preamp model in the HD500X preset with no mic/cab selection. Also experiment with the output mode setting. Try Power Stack? For more options you could explore the 4CM (four cable method) setup for using your POD with a physical amp. -
M20D setup/scene recall
silverhead replied to Phildoanfield's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
You can't do that using Scenes, but have you tried using different M20d Setups for the band and the duo? When saving the setups, disconnect the unwanted inputs for the setup. After the two setups are saved you can reconnect all the inputs for both situations. On my M20d when I recall a saved Setup the stage only shows the inputs/channels that were saved. If there is a physical input connection to an undefined/unsaved channel it is ignored - there is no dummy mic/DI input shown for it on the stage. (Well, it's not quite ignored. The Input Strip shows a physical connection but no stage icon is created/displayed for it) I think that's what you want? -
M20D setup/scene recall
silverhead replied to Phildoanfield's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I'm afraid the simple answer is No, you can't do what you want. I don't think you can turn off the auto-sensing of a connected input. So the band's icons will be visible, as you describe, when the duo is playing, and vice-versa. This is true even if you use different M20d Setups for the two situations. In order to have a clean stage for each you would have to use different Setups and physically disconnect the unnecessary cables when you switch. That's more trouble than what you're already doing in temporarily deleting the icons. Is it possible to organize your layout by minimizing the size of the icons and positioning the band in one area of the stage and the duo in another? I expect you've already tried that to reduce the clutter and confusion. See corrected post below. -
Line 6 L2T or traditional monitors?
silverhead replied to r1pt0rn's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Bear in mind that you also lose something if you do use the L6 Link connection. You lose the ability to use the cd/MP3 input on the HD500X, for backing tacks for instance. That's because the cd/MP3 input on the POD is sent directly to the analog outputs; it is not converted to digital within the POD and hence is not sent via L6 Link. -
Line 6 L2T or traditional monitors?
silverhead replied to r1pt0rn's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
1. Yes 2. Why not just use a straight 1/4" unbalanced cable - a regular guitar jack/cable? The L2t has combo inputs on both the rear panel and the side panel mixer, meaning they will accept XLR or 1/4" cables. Experiment with the HD500 1/4" output switch setting (line or amp) depending on whether ou use the L2t rear panel or mixer input. The POD's balanced outputs are necessary over long distances. For short runs it really doesn't matter much. -
HD 500 MP3/CD line in for my drum machine help........
silverhead replied to SMOOVEONE's topic in POD HD
What device is your L6 Link going to? If it's a Stagesource speaker you can connect your Boss to one of its other inputs. If it's a DT amp... I don't know if that has another input you could use. -
HD 500 MP3/CD line in for my drum machine help........
silverhead replied to SMOOVEONE's topic in POD HD
That's the problem. As I described, the cd/mp3 signal is not converted to digital. It is available only at the analog outputs (headphones / XLR / 1/4") -
HD 500 MP3/CD line in for my drum machine help........
silverhead replied to SMOOVEONE's topic in POD HD
Do you hear the Boss device using headphones with the HD500? A couple of things to note: - the cd/mp3 input is passed directly to the HD500 analog outputs; it does not undergo conversion to digital format hence it is not available as an input to HD500 input processsing, nor is it available at the HD500 digital outputs (e.g. s/pdif or L6 Link). - you have to control the cd/mp3 volume using the external device - there is no volume control in the HD500 for it. It should be as simple as you think. Connect the external device and turn up its volume. If you can't hear it using the HD500 headphones output then something is broken with the HD500 internal circuitry (assuming your external equipment works properly - cables, jacks. Have you double-checked these?). -
Sonic Port - how to turn microphone off!
silverhead replied to Grae0401's topic in Sonic Port devices / Mobile In
If you want to record just the guitar make sure your Input Selector on the Sonic Port VX is set to guitar, not one of the Mic positions. -
Don't forget that any changes you make to a preset (like disabling an amp model) are only temporary unless SAVEd before changing presets. In other words if you are in a preset that was saved with the amp model ON and you disable the amp model, then switch to another preset, then return to the original preset.... that preset will be recalled in its last-saved state (the amp model is ON) rather than the state in which you left it. This is normal behaviour. Also, I think the FX ONLY mode turns off the mic and cab selections as well, whereas simply disabling the amp model leaves the mic/cab selections active. Consult the manual for details about this.

What equipment are you using other than Helix? Do your Helix output settings match your equipment?
