Yes, but only if you find the 10's lacking in the low end at low volumes. If you like the low end of the 10s and aren't concerned about the extra cost then bigger is better.

Save the preset to any desired location. That's copying it.
-
No - you would need a second expression pedal (external) if you want your onboard pedal to control wah.

You can control JTV model changes by changing presets in Helix. Each Helix preset can store a JTV model setting.

Have you tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling?

Firehawk provides a different concept - compatibility with mobile devices. It (and the AMPLIFi series) is a direct response to many pod HD owners who were asking your question in reverse, namely "Why can't I use my iPhone to download and edit patches? I don't want a to have to carry my computer around everywhere." The main reason people buy Firehawk instead of POD HD is for mobility. If you want to use mobile devices and Bluetooth, buy Firehawk. If you want to use computers and USB connections, buy POD HD. Firehawk is an alternative to POD HD - not better than POD HD. It wasn't designed to be 'a super version'.

If you use different Helix presets for your various Variax models you can save/store the model selection with the preset so that whenever you recall the preset the Variax model is automatically selected without having to touch the Variax settings. So you can have separate presets for your acoustic and electric guitar models. However, if you use a single preset as outlined above you can blend the one Variax model defined in the Helix preset with the Variax magnetic pickups. You can't store two Variax models in the preset (e.g an acoustic and an electric model), and you can't switch between two Variax models in the same preset without doing it manually on the Varaiax. So you could blend an acoustic Variax model with the Variax mag pickups but you can't blend a Variax acoustic model with a Variax electric model.

5. Instead of bending down and using the big volume knob you could assign an expression pedal to control the channel volume of the preset. 6. .... but since you're willing to bend down to adjust things, you could manually adjust the L2t speaker volume and balance it with the Helix output level to get the mix you want, independent of the stage sound guy.

Make sure you are not using a USB hub, and try different USB ports on your laptop. And follow the Monkey's instructions when installing the driver, especially about when to have the HD500X connected and disconnected.

See post #4 in this thread and check out the linked blogs. Great and very generous work by amsdenj. The IRs I have used are the Taylor ones in the first post here: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/free-ir-files.1552290/
-
Me too. Huge difference using IRs.

This thread might give you some options. http://line6.com/support/topic/14434-what-sort-of-amp-speaker-to-use-with-a-helix/ I think the QSC 8" might not be the best choice for two reasons: - they are too big/loud for an 8x10 room and may not perform well at low volumes. I think a 6" speaker would be better. - they are not FRFR (full range flat response). FRFR studio speakers will perform better, especially if you plan to record in your room.

It's not uncommon for the port to be damaged when unprotected by the rubber cap. It's often the result of a user inserting the 1/4" guitar cord into the wrong jack. This can bend the connection pins/wires inside the VDI jack. If the damage isn't too bad it can often be corrected by using a do-it-yourself J-hook fashioned from something like a twist tie you might find on the packaging from a loaf of bread. Just carefully straighten out the bent pins/wires. If that is not the problem the X3 probably needs servicing. But before doing that I would first eliminate the Variax guitar and the VDI cable being the source of the problem. Has the new user ever successfully used the VDI connection on his guitar with another device? Is he using the X3 properly to recognize the Variax input to Tone1 or Tone2 as required?
-
That's interesting. How do they get around the IP issues? I imagine if Helix users could save the IR in the patch, and then share the patch on Customtone, the IR developers and sellers would not be pleased.

MPC Renaissance and Stagescape M20d
silverhead replied to Brokerhenry's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Your MPC is connected to M20d inputs, not outputs. Hence nothing that comes into other M20d inputs (the Korg in this case) can be output to the MPC through this connection. You could try also connecting M20d monitor outputs (a stereo pair, say A and B ) to the MPC inputs and assigning the Korg to the monitors. -
Presets not showing in POG HD editor or unit? Just says new tone???
silverhead replied to wahwah666's topic in POD HD
Perhaps you are looking at one of the factory setlists named USERx? Those contain basically empty presets named New Preset, intended to be replaced or modified by the user. If so, try selecting another setlist. -
Well, there you go. Learn something new everyday. Just curious - does the footswitch take on the min value when ON and max value when OFF (or vice versa)? If not something like that, how does a non-sweep controller operate with min/max values?
-
I think you have to do that with a pedal controller, setting the min/max positions of the pedal as desired.

L3M / L3T low frequency missing
silverhead replied to exit's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I think your first step should be to enhance the low end frequencies in your setup, compensating for the difference in speakers (non-FRFR to FRFR). If you can't get what you want doing that, then consider an L3s (or consult the Rolling Stones - you just might find you get what you need). -
L3M / L3T low frequency missing
silverhead replied to exit's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
From what I can see of the ev sx300 speaker info, it is not advertised as an FRFR system. That means usually means it has some built-in low frequency enhancements. The Stagesource speakers are FRFR. I expect you will need to tweak your other components to compensate, either using the M20d channel settings or the source equipment. -
Try holding down the left nav key while powering on (or is it the right? I always seem to forget which.) . If you get a display that allows you to select Flash Memory, select it and then run Line 6 Monkey to install the latest firmware.

Typically an amp's drive and volume controls are inversely related. In other words when you turn the drive level down you need to turn the volume level up to maintain the same overall volume.

Audio interface for recording POD 2.0
silverhead replied to jgonlop3's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
As mentioned any audio interface should work. The Line 6 interface products are the Studio series (GX, UX1, UX2) and Sonic Port VX. All of those also include licenses to software modelling products (Pod Farm, Mobile Pod) that you could use in addition to the POD 2. Compare these with other manufacturers' products.- 3 replies

New 500 owner. Problems with selector switch
silverhead replied to markus765's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
What do you know about the history of the guitar? It sounds like it was defective when you purchased it. If so and you weren't informed of it do you have any recourse with the unscrupulous seller? -
No - no midi control in Firehawk.
