  1. How exactly are you importing the patches? Give a detailed step-by-step procedure.
  2. The easiest way I can think of is to have a computer in the sound booth connected to the JTV using the interface cord/device that came with the JTV. You may need a usb extension cable if the distance from guitar to computer is longer than the provided interface cable. You can then run Workbench HD on the computer and use it to control the Variax. Note that patch changing won't be instantaneous as it is if you just do it on the JTV. It will take some milliseconds - maybe approaching a full second - for the remote control via Workbench to take effect. Whether and how much this may hinder what you want to do, I can't say.
  3. Like you I mostly use the VDI connection so don't have much experience with the Input-Z parameter. However my understanding is that it pertains to the first FX that appears in the signal chain, not the type of guitar being used.
  4. I expect it's because the USB Workbench interface does not provide power to the JTV. That's why you need to activate the battery with the 1/4" jack. Also, I don't know if the interface carries the digital audio signal. It may just carry control and model definition data. Perhaps the potential problems arise when the internal circuitry is handling the analog audio output signal as well as the digital model/mags signal(s).
  5. No cost. You can get it in the Downloads section of this website (under the Support tab at top of this page). It will appear as a selection in the Software field.
  6. In Reaper you select the Sonic Port and its ASIO driver as the audio input and output device (see Preferences in Reaper).

  8. No. Any EQing or other sound adjustment needs to be made on the sending device.
  9. You can't record directly with the Pocket Pod. The USB connection is used for the Vyzex Editor and librarian program, which allows you to backup and download tones between your computer and the device.
  10. No - you can't assign the same block to multiple FS. In your case I would assign Boost and Delay to different FS and turn them on/off individually as desired. I know this means hitting two FS sometimes rather than one, but I think you'd have to do that anyway even if it were possible to assign the same FX to two FS. Imagine things worked the way you'd like. One FS would turn both Boost/Delay on/off depending on the state in which you saved the preset. If a second FS turned only one of them on/off, as soon as you do that you defeat the purpose of the dual-assigned FS. It will no longer operate as you set it up - you will have to toggle the singly-assigned FS again first, meaning the same double FS tap you are trying to avoid.
  11. Check to see if you have Tone 2 Locked. That is a feature that allows you to change presets without changing Tone 2 - useful for, say, keeping the vocal tone (Tone 2) the same while you change guitar tones in Tone 1. With Tone 2 unlocked both tones will change when you switch presets. The feature is controlled by turning knob #4 (if I recall) on the home page display. The icon is a padlock that opens (Tone 2 unlocked) and closes (Tone 2 locked) as you rotate the knob.
  12. Thanks to both of you for this. I find it to be an excellent tone, and a very useful analysis that provides ideas for other tone creations.
  13. I doubt that there will be any more firmware updates for the HD300/400 products. They are no longer being manufactured although they will continue to be supported for some time yet.
  14. It's called 'buyer's remorse' and it happens with almost everybody shortly after almost every major purchase. Don't worry - the HD500X will continue to be supported 'for a long time', whatever that means. Enjoy it worry-free!
  15. I doubt that there will be another HD300/400 firmware update, but that's just my opinion. The product is no longer being manufactured although it will still be supported for some time yet.
  16. No problem as long as its Line 6 gear. We just don't want this to be a general sale/trade board. The best place for this type of post would be in the Lounge area or the product-specific area.
  17. You would have to do that manually. There is no printing capability within Firehawk.
  18. The Helix USB DI recording assumes you are using Helix as the audio interface device - not a 3rd party audio interface such as your MBOX PRO. In order for the directions to work you need to connect Helix USB directly to your computer. Leave the MBOX out of the configuration.
  19. Actually it's the other way around. Yamaha bought Line 6.
  20. Any editing changes you make to a patch are only temporary unless/until you SAVE the changes before changing patches. If you make changes to 30A, and don't save them before moving to 30B, and return later to 30A the switches will be in their last SAVEd state, not their last used state.
  21. You should reset the global settings after updating. Glenn: I don't know whether you really need to reset the globals. I think it's recommended because that's how the factory presets are created. So by resetting the globals you will hear the factory presets as they were designed to be heard. Perhaps this minimizes the usual comments about how bad factory presets sound? Of course, that will always be true - especially those presets that are designed to show off the device features and capabilities rather than for actual tonal quality. ... just my opinion - no trade secrets!
  22. http://line6.com/software/ Choose Line 6 Updater in the middle (software) field.
  23. There is no global volume levelling feature. You need to balance the relative volumes one preset at a time. Start with the quietest, cleanest presets then move on crunch tones and finally your high gain tones. Use the amp channel volume as much as possible; it does not affect the tone. If necessary you can use the mixer levels. Avoid using the gain/drive or the amp master volume. These affect tone. The device master volume is not saved with the preset; you should only use it once at the beginning of each session to set overall volume for the room/venue and then leave it alone.
  24. One caution about using ASIO4ALL: it is known to cause problems with Line 6 devices in some situations. That's not because of the Line 6 devices, but because ASIO4ALL is not a fully compliant ASIO driver. Devices that require fully complaint drivers (like Line 6 devices) do not always work well with ASIO4ALL. And be aware that if you do have problems when using ASIO4ALL, Line 6 does not support this configuration. The first thing Line 6 support will tell you is to remove ASIO4ALL, use the Line 6 driver provided for the device, and if the problem persists you can be supported by Line 6.
  25. Try this preset. Adjust amp/fx as desired but do not change the preset structure, and do not place any amp or fx in the dry path. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/217206/
