I bet they don't last long. Sweetwater is still showing out of stock.

How does Line 6 treat middle control when amp has no middle?
glideman replied to markdenman123's topic in Helix
If I'm not mistaken, 50% on the mids is the stock setting on amps with no mid control in real life. -
Used to have all 3, too... you're going to have a LOT of fun!

@jroseberry , I wouldn't count on the AX8 being live/tweak friendly as far as the tweaking ease. While it's learnable, my AX8 is nowhere near as easy to edit on as my Helix. The ONLY thing that is easier (just because you click the "amp" button first on the Helix) is the amp edit knobs always being available on the fly. However, you're bending down for both live. hehe. :) The more I play with the AX8 since it came in, the more I feel like it will be the "backup" that sits in the studio the most, setup for walk-in recording. I'm finding the Helix to be my prefered weapon of choice, and less and less enthralled with all the extra amp models on the AX8. By the time I tweak cabs/mics, etc. on the Helix, I can pretty much change the face on every amp in the Helix drastically. It's about like having more amp models. After having owned Axe FX II XL+ (sold), Kemper Rack (sold), Helix (still own), and now AX8 (still own), Helix is one heck of a major player. When they get all the bugs and kinks worked out, plus add a few more amps for the amp fiends, I don't see how anyone could ignore Helix. I've owned a crap ton of tube amps and digital modelers from tons of brands... Helix convinces me more and more every day why I just love the dang thing. It's why I spend more time playing than tweaking... I tweak and then play for an hour or more. By then, I'm left saying to myself "wasn't I supposed to be building presets??? Where the heck did the time go??? That was fun..."

I wish I could answer MIDI tempo question on delays, but I don't use it and don't really know how to set it up. :(

I'm with PeterHamm on this one. I have both now, and it boils down to a few features and layout to me. If you can't get good tones, be they heavy metal, cleans, crunches, hard rock, classic rock, then you probably haven't spent enough time on it.

Nice tone and playing!

I use AKG K240 mkII headphones and they sound almost identical to my FRFR rig. I can actually tweak around and build presets on the headphones and it comes out sounding well through my rig.

And me grabbing an AX8 us in no way a knock on my Helix... I just don't want two of the same exact box, and the Tonelab LE and SE laying in the closet don't excite me as a backup anymore. LoL! Helix will most likely remain #1, but the AX8 will get use as well. I agree that if Helix ever gets to around 75-125 amps, it will be a good balancer against the lure of the million models craze.
-
LoL! Nah, I'll actually use both. One will probably live in my studio and my drummer's professional studio for session work... I would have kept the axe II or the Kemper for that, but I want my backup as a single pedal.
-
It'll be worth the jump to Helix from the Pod HD!
-
They're probably waiting for the inevitable slowdown... LoL
-
If Kemper came out with a pedalboard version, I'd probably have to save up for one of those, too! Hehe.
-
I'll post some updates once it comes in. I had gotten rid of some "junk" out the garage and music room, so I decided to put the extra cash to good use. I needed a backup pedal to the Helix anyway, so I figured why not have the main competitor... LoL! I had the Axe II XL+ and the Kemper rack. Liked them both but just got tired of the separate pedalboard and rack. I figure this way, I'll keep one in the studio and one on the road. If I get tired of one, they swap up for awhile. We all know guitarists never swap toys like their underwear... Haha!
-
...I just bought an AX8 for $1400. I couldn't resist... I had to have both... I'm a guitarcrakhead...
-
Yeah, you know you've hit a game winner when your prime product is $1500 and you can't make them fast enough to keep them on the shelves.

It's just amazing how huge the demand has been for it to still be hard to find regularly in stock. Quite a few months now that it's been on the market! Wow!
-
I could have sworn they just had June 15th on the site...
-
I thought the mania might have died of enough for supply to catch up to demand by now. LoL! I think Sweetwater has the Rack and pedal in stock, but I checked there and several others for the floor unit, and heck no... June 15th estimates for stock arrival. I'm sure glad I bit the bullet a long time ago. Shudder to think if it broke, though. Might pick up an AX-8 eventually to have as a backup and an occupational change of pace... Either that or a second Helix. Hehe.

Good Lord what a pile of pedals!
-
I had about every commercial Profile known to mankind... I found myself trying to tweak 100's of profiles the whole time I had my Kemper Rack. It was almost TOO much to choose from... I may grab another one again for the studio, though. Just hated having a pedal plus a rack.
-
With ya, bud! Tubers have been collecting a LOT of extra dust here lately. Haven't really missed my Axe FX II XL+ or my Kemper Rack, either. Great pieces of equipment, though! Mostly don't miss that extra pedal to lug around plus a rack. hehe

I have used most of his either straight up with just a few tone tweaks, or as templates for most of my presets so far. They are at a minimum great starting points.
