i'm sure i can hear those gaps between the samples on the lower rate one 😆
-
i just compared the suhr and buddah IR's on the same preset and they sound so close alike they could be the same amp, so that may have been a bit of a waste.. Yes in regards to internal vs IR's.. in most cases i find the IR's a little more lively and sweeter but in a few cases with an overdrive (minotour) in front, i've prefered the internal cabs.

upgrade to 2.0 has changed some of my tones dramatically

well i'm just thinking in the future if they have any bug fix updates that follow those major updates.. it could get annoying.. but hey, it's all hypothetical at this stage ;) -

it's a lot of faffing around to have to do each time (especially if they start releasing bug fix updates) You'd think there'd be a way to update where it remembers your settings and can keep IR's loaded. -
Observations - Day 5 - The good and not so good.

as far as compressor on acoustic, try the studio one, then back off the mix knob untill you just hear the sound start to fatten up a bit.. also i usually only use a mild ratio of 2:1 -
courtesan flanger. Any Electric Mistress fans a bit disappointed?

i didn't like the leslie's at first but after a tweak and assigning speed to control pedal i like them now. they were a bit too gritty at first. Actually i have been running them after a speaker cab, i wonder how they work instead of a speaker cab.. seeing as leslies are themselves speakers.(and i seem to remember that in amplitube they were placed in the speaker cab section with mic modelling etc) I must go and try ... i wonder if line 6 will give us a properly modelled leslie with (stereo?)mic placement -
bought the buddah for now and will be looking at a 4x12" option soon.. maybe the marshall ;)

Impulse responses-Clarifications needed for nooby.

when they show up in your helix you may find them at a rate of 1024 or 2048.. i think the 2048 ones use more processing power but probably sound a little better i'm guessing -

friedman even for not heavy sounds? thanks for the input so far everyone.. i actually got just the sound i love, loading a suhr IR into the cab of a preset i got from glenn delaune (srv preset in the artists set) and it sounds really sweet.. i'll still be looking at another impulse set (or 3 :) I do think the ones i tried so far have an edge over the internal cabs
-
i like something pretty full sounding.. for playing by myself with a stomp pedal, not thin for a mix.
-
i wanted to buy another pack of 3sigma Ir's .. i bought the suhr pack which is very nice and i have the ownhammer free mesa set . i play bluesy mild dirty and maybe some 70's stones sort of vibe. so after something that might suit thise sort of sounds .. any recommendations as there are a few to chose from , just from listening i liked the beefiness of the buddah cab so far.

the IR's need to be reloaded in the same slot you had them originally -
i'd read about using edge of the speaker recording technique, where it is quite dark sounding but you boost the hi freq's after it and you get a very nice air quality and tone, seeing as the mic is not being pounded as much as it is when it is right on the cone. i tried it with this IR and it seemed to work quite nicely.. if anyone knows any other "edge of the speaker" IR's also .?

it was labelled "50MU67edge- 50web121cap-100" and i used it a couple of times on my presets, for some reason i didn't back it up (i assumed i had it saved already:( ) does anyone recognise where it came from? i thought it might have been posted on here a few months ago but not sure.
-
i was a bit reluctant as i'd lost presets last time i updated but this time it all worked out well. just follow all the instructions!
-
make sure it is loud enough to drown out your actual string sounds.. that can sound pretty bad if you can still hear them ;)
-
thanks.. i can log in on the page but not the updater
-
that would be all great but now the updater wont sign in with my account :(
-
i cant sign in with line6 updater :( it just keeps saying http request error.. i even changed password so i knew i had the right one.. is there any way to download the firmware update to my computer without line 6 updater so i can use it off line .. god firmware updates never seem to go smoothly line 6

2.0 Has any changes been made to the amp modelling in general?
shanecgriffo replied to johnonguitar's topic in Helix
i didn't see any thing about changes to existing models . -
my current helix firmware version is v1.10.0. is there an editor/app version i can use that doesn't have the connection problems on the mac w/El capitan?
-
i'm looking forward to the new update but kinda scared to as well.. last time i updated a few months ago i was having the connection problem to my mac others were mentioning , then my helix froze while i was tryng to save presets and i had to reboot and reset it to factory settings to get it working again, losing all my presets in the process.. well i've spent many hours making presets since and would be super upset if i lose them again.. it was the helix program on mac, the version just before the editor came out .. i haven't got computer handy to check the number - what helix application/editor should i install to save my presets? i'm reluctant to use the same one i used last time.. can i install the latest? before i update helix firmware.?
