you probably really need to try it to decide.. most people won't be using washes of delay and reverb quite like what is needed for shoegaze style genre. I think as yet there is no comparison to the strymon as far as quality goes but this is only a guess and from comment's i've read. I find the reverbs nice and cirtainly with the routing options you will get nice washes of sound. The vox amps onboard dont seem to have as much 'vox' character as i expected but i may just need to muck around with them and try some vox ir's
-
i'm mainly using it with the vol on guitar rolled back to 5-7 for a slightly gritty clean sound.. it works ok for that. even if there is a bit of hiss going on..
-
cool! sounds great.. and includes the ir's i'm guessing?

HD500X to Helix Converts. Let me pick your brains.

2 thumbs up from me -tho i came from podxtL via the latest zoom modeller. -
sorry silverhead.. i'm meaning into p.a speakers.. that's what i use.. i realize they won't all sound alike and will change the sound somewhat, but that is the same with any sound you put thru it , so maybe a moot point.. i'm just pondering wheter this is possible, the raw amp sound thru a p.a speaker. .. now this isn't necesarily for live use i'm thinking.. just playing at home and having it sound like a real amp sitting right there. i'm just thinking it is probably possible with the software.. one day
-
and if it could be tweaked in software i'd rather that, than having to go buy a power amp and guitar cab 😉
-
i mean it's pretty close now.. and sounds great .. i just still imagine it could sound a bit more 'immediate' maybe
-
the sound of a raw amp coming out whatever speaker you have.. i'm sure it would be a popular option to have
-
i was just wondering if it is something that could be done Peter, through the modelling technology as i'm often reading that modellers model the sound of a mic'd/recorded guitar cab. then why not just a raw amp.??
-
no sorry.. i mean an amp sitting there in front of you. not an amp in a room space
-
line 6 you've come this far and we love helix.. but i wonder if by next year you can give us an 'amp in the room' setting? One that bypasses the mic modelling and includes whatever other magic processing it needs and a little control button in there somewhere that allows you to choose between 'amp in the room' sound and 'standard' sound.? 😉👌
-
i find it's jumpy but if it is mainly jumping around the centre indicator then for me, it's 'close enough for rock and roll' ;)
-
i met a few of those sound dinosaurs.. problem was, some were a bit deaf 😉
-
it probably wont hurt to say to the soundguy "which is best.?" then play with and without your global eq setting , during soundcheck.. it would take all of 20 seconds maybe
-
great thanks.. look forward to try them
-
once you hear the overdrives in helix you may really have no use for 3 external ones 😉
-
might be best and easiest to use the parametric eq block .. make a narrow q then boost around the lows and low mids to see if you can find an offending frequency area , then drop it... then try a very minor boost in the top mids to see if it sweetens it any .. seems to work with my old archtop
-
try it into an aux input also , it was mentioned on here and i've tried it also, the sound is a bit more natural.. just place an aux return block at the start of your chain.
-
gosh, i've just loaded an amp/cab combo and a reverb before and been in love with the sound .. Keep it simple sometimes ;)
-
using it on the mesa mkIV clean channel so far.. nice
-
hey, just downloaded them, digging the 3rd position ones, nice and full and still crisp enough (on a strat).. especially the 414_3 file Thanks. i might skip buying the commercial ones for a while, these give me a nice new cab sound 👌
-
are people mainly using these for any particular type of music?
-
handy to know that ;) ðŸ‘
-
i think the brightness came from not reloading any 3rd party IR's yet.. haha it happened to me

upgrade to 2.0 has changed some of my tones dramatically
