  1. the litigator amp with a tube screamer in front is a good start 😉
  2. they used to roll off the tone on the guitar a bit too i think rather than having a lot of bass on the amp to get the rounder warmer tone.. flatwound strings might help too
  3. sometimes just borrowing another amp/powered speaker might be helpful. running 2 side by side or close together moves a lot more air and fills out the stage better with sound
  4. some things to try- low cuts and hi cuts on the cabs grab a few ir's to try to see if you prefer them sit and tweak some of the presets a little (or a lot) try the litigator amp with the tube screamer pedal try the archon clean with some drive pedals (even stack them- it sounds good)
  5. load them after the firmware update as you'll have to reload them anyway.. yes i find the fenders tricky and sometimes it comes down to your monitoring. if you're monitoring thru little speakers you wont match the heft of a big fender amp. the archon clean channel is one to try also.
  6. i've lost snapshots before but only when i forget to press 'save' on the preset that i am building (and then flick to another) that is annoyng enough as it is!
  7. i'd imagine it functions pretty simillarly with the helix as with the axe fx.?
  8. using both axe-fx and helix, do you find the helix is up to it, as far as the amp/fx sounds go.? it's not so far off the quality of axe-fx ?
  9. update drivers? i think when interfaces play audio from videos etc they are not actually using asio drivers, not sure about this, but i think it used to be the case.
  10. i can only listen thru iphone speakers at the moment so wont comment on the tone yet.. did you try going into aux / return? i find it sounds better than going into the guitar input for acoustic.
  11. you should be able to do it.. you can easily run 2 amps and fx in the one preset
  12. yes, i'd keep that existing device for acoustic , for me the helix doesn't do acoustic so well.. but for the electric yes it is a winner 😉
  13. no, a snapshot only changes parameters within an existing preset.. that being said, you can really get a lot of mileage with snapshots and in most cases should never need to change presets if you spend time setting it up
  14. i'm at the opposite end.. wondering whether to use a favourite drive pedal before helix or in a loop.. before is easier as i dont need to use send/return blocks and it does seem to sound pretty good
  15. a great rundown.. makes me wish i'd been there joining the fun 😉ðŸ‘
  16. finally a bit more chance to play with them..that lil'walter amp is one that keeps you wanting to play 😉👌 especially on the lead snapshot.
  17. oh cool, sounds like it all went smoothly.
  18. good idea! they need some way to do that more easily
  19. even the prs archon clean channel maybe
  20. Thanks Glenn, this has expanded my pallette in a nice way. they sound great , well at low volumes so far anyway.. hope to crank them up a bit soon
  21. was going thru a few of my old pedals to sell (gotta keep the car on the road) and came to my blackstar ht dual 2 channel distortion ( the older one with the preamp tube) .. luckily i thought id try it out with the helix before relegating it to the 'for sale' pile - and..it sounds really great! tightens up the whole sound , especialy thru my mackie srm350 monitors which can tend to sound a bit wooly in the lower mids. It's making it sound more like a 'real' amp to my ears.. just putting it before the helix and using it to colour the sound with the clean channel so far. I guess dont get rid of pedals before you try them with helix, they might work well together.
  22. i used to run 2 amps on stage split after a chorus pedal (with very gentle, slow chorus rate/mix) .. It was more for my benefit tho as it sounded great to me onstage, tho from memory most times we only ever mic'd the one amp to go thru the foh mix. So i guess , get the best sound for yourself onstage while considering the overall system/mix
  23. nice.. been looking forward to these. hopefully there is a bit of variety of tone- it's a little hard to tell from the videos as it is often different guitars
