  1. i wonder would a workaround may be, a bit of trickery with the control pedal- to drop the mids when strummimg but then restore them when picking- maybe by assigning a volume knob from the parametric eq to the control pedal
  2. i think i just had it set to auto, i'll fool around a bit more with it. thanks
  3. one of the problems i find is that going even into a return with no effects, the sound is a little thinner than if i plug straight to the powered speaker i'm using. It seems to rob a little of the acoustic's body/tone just plugging in thru the helix. Going into the guitar input makes a much big difference , the tone becomes unpleasant. Saying that, i have been able to dial in some nice sounds with quite a bit of effort, but i wonder if the unit isn't hobbled somewhat by the inputs in regards to acoustic instruments..
  4. i haven't really heard of this problem and i bought helix in the first half of 2016
  5. maybe with a feedback control.. i have a zoom preamp unit that has that and it does come in handy sometimes
  6. i tried that with mine and it really didn't work.. it's along the same lines as running a virtual cab into a real cab.. too much cab! lol Did you try with a compressor? maybe the LA one, with the mix down at about 60-70%.. it thickens it up a bit here.. and make sure to try going into one of the returns if you are just using pure acoustic sounds without needing electric.. it sounds a bit fuller thru a return
  7. haha no problem, i'm pretty sure we're all guilty of that now and then 😉
  8. yes that's right honest opinion. but i was referring to when loop playback had been stopped thanks 😉ðŸ‘
  9. that example, it's just missing the tape compression 😉😂
  10. for me the tuner is fine.. i just tune quickly and if i see it flash green in any way i move on to the next string.. it's then close enough for rock and roll as they say ;)
  11. yes the freman's are pretty usable without much effort 😉ðŸ‘
  12. i'm thinking of someone like hendrix, who could do so much with feedback, morphing it at his whim.. i wonder if you can go anywhere near that with this pedal, it seems it may be a bit more static ?
  13. there is the little trick with the expression pedal and pitch effect that simulates feedback nicely in some instances. Just gotta remember hiw to do it..
  14. will a variax 500 work with the updated workbench via the helix as a connector? thanks
  15. the sunn amps hendrix used- were they actually bass amps like these?
  16. will the update work with older variaxes and workbench? (i have a 500) It'll mean i can hand on my old podxtl which i was holding onto as that is my workbench connector in case i need to tweak anything
  17. hmm we had official word that there is no update coming at the moment..i thought.
  18. try a bit more, maybe, up to 150 maybe -on the amp drop the bass a bit also and push up the mid control. see if it helps.. also changing mics can help a lot.
  19. try cutting low frequencies more than you think you should.
  20. if it is just a new amp i can't imagine they would model and release it so quickly apart from pis*ing off the amp manufacturer they would have to get one and model everything.. it would take a bit of time
  21. yes i think the archetype may get you there, it has a nice bit of clean heft
  22. oh great haha a lucky turn of events.. how did the helix sound, going direct in the venue.?
