  1. Hey all. This is going to sound dumb but I would love to get some (constructive) thoughts on this... I use my POD HD500X as a pedalboard for its great reverbs, delays, overdrive, modulation, etc. through my VHT Special 6 Ultra combo for guitar and pedal steel guitar. My pedal steel does not have an onboard tone or volume control, which is pretty common for those. Many players use a compact preamp mounted to their steel guitar so they can make tweaks to volume and tone on the fly. I don't intend to use amp emulation most of the time but I may do it on occasion to go direct to the board at church or a gig. Question: what is your best method to use the HD500X as a pre-amp? Subquestion: can I use the hardware knobs to modify treble/mid/bass/presence/volume (sound) without emulating an amp or cabinet? Subqueston: can this be done without using a pedal chain slot? Currently I am using the HD500X with Studio/Direct output mode and input Z set to 3.5m or 1m to neutralize any color to the signal (many, many thanks to @hurghanico for their invaluable advice!) . But I'd like to be able to shape the tone and maybe add a little boost, ideally without using one of the available blocks in the pedal chain. May you have a very Merry Christmas, strong health and the unmistakeable peace of the presence of the Lord this season!
  2. I'm going to connect my POD HD500 to my Laney Lionheart combo L120T-112. I found this article: http://amplifya.com/setting-up-your-tube-amp-with-a-pod-hd500/ and it references a Line 6 primer on the subject which is supposed to be found here: http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2523. This link is broken. I suppose Line6 have forgotten to update it when they renewed their site. But as the article recommends it I would love to have a look! Where can I find it? I'm aware of several videos on YouTube on the subject, but anyway ...
  3. I own a combo amp https://marshallamps.com/products/amplifiers/mg-carbon-fibre/mg50cfx/ and also a pair of hi-fi speakers http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006H4E1XU/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1445447518&sr=1&keywords=q+acoustics+2020i After seeing a few people have trouble with the combo amp and multi fx boards, due to the separate settings on the amp, I was wondering if I should connect the firehawk to the speakers or even some new gear. I'd appreciate your opinion on what I should do and please provide links on how and what I need to wire it up with. Thanks -K
  4. I have a line 6 spider valve 212 mk1 40w combo amp. Im looking to attatch an extention 4x12 cabinet to it for my bands live performances. I have 2 celestian 16 ohm speakers. What speaker specs for the cabinet as far as ohms can i use to work with the combo amp... i have multiple output jacks..... 8 ohm pair, 4 ohm single, 8 ohm out, preamp out and power amp in. along with a direct out. Which of these can u use with a compatible cabinet, and what would the specs of a compatible cabinet be?
  5. I want to know if i can assign effects/patches to specific outputs on HD 500? Example: i want wah-wah effects to go into the intstrument in on my amp and i want to have an active delay in my amp's effects loop? Is panning the way to do that?
