Openstringking
hi me and my other guitarist both run orange 4x12's at 16 ohms we also both run pod hd pro x's and are looking for a rackmount power amp that can run the two pods into the two 16 ohm cabs. we are unsure if there is even a power amp that can do this surely there is
joel_brown
Yes there is.
cruisinon2
Any 16 ohm, 2 channel power amp in the known universe...however, with only one amp between you, when it dies (and it will), nobody gets to make any noise. Not a good plan.
AlexKenivel
It's also good to know that if you get a two channel 1000w SS poweramp, you're cutting your actual power in half to share the wattage where as if you had separate poweramps you could bridge both and be twice as loud. YMMV

Seriously though, where would you put the thing? Stage left, stage right? If I lose the coin toss that night and it's on the other guy's side of the stage, now I gotta get his attention to turn up or down? No thanks... AlexKenivel
I've used a two channel power amp for a while and ran two guitars into my Pod HD on separate paths and output them to separate speaker cabs just for practice at my house but not live. I've also use that second channel/cab for synth sounds from a tablet into some looping pedals. Fun times
pianoguyy
Does it exist? Duh, of course. Where would you put it? Many 'quiet stage' bands run a 6 foot tall rack unit that has everything the band needs in it. It's not really an issue. Like everyone else, I never felt the need to 'share' my rig with another player. Sure, I can be part of the shared 6' rack, but not sharing my actual space on it. *Disclaimer - I did share my tuner with everyone.

bvaladez74
Matrix GT1000Fx. It's industry standard for a lot of Axe FX users now. I use it with my POD HDx into 16ohm orange cabs. You're not going to find anything better. Oh and don't share gear. 2 rigs into a single power amp?! LOL!!! Dude, buy 2 Matrix power amps and you're set. Would you share a toothbrush? Would you share a toothbrush? Who wants a custody battle over a power amp when the band goes toes-up? You bring your stuff, I'll bring mine....and don't bogart my strings, either. ;)
AlexKenivel
^Yeah it's not like drums or anything.. I was in a band where different parts of the drum set were owned by the different members of the band. Most of it is still here even tho the band isn't

joel_brown
I'm just surprised that the person who posted this has never walked over to the ProSound department of their local music store and looked at P.A. amps. Although I agree about having a separate amp for each guitarist, but they might be brothers or something. Or maybe just trying to keep things light and portable. Either way, let them learn the hard way like the rest of us did.
pianoguyy
never walked over to the ProSound department of their local music store and looked at P.A. amps. EW Visit an actual store. With, like, people in it and stuff. Gross. Who does that. That is so 2005. To be fair to the 'younger generation', it is kind of a self fulfilling prophecy. The more people lollipop over the local stores for online shops, the less local stores will serve the customers, which simply drives customers to online stores more. It would probably help some if those stores weren't staffed by idiot high school kids who haven't been alive long enough to know anything, and aging half-wits who don't care because they still think of it as a temporary gig until their band makes it. Never mind that they suck and they're 52. So much for the glorious world of music retail. Even if none of that were the case, people would still be buying big ticket items online for the convenience of having it show up on your porch 2 days later...and to avoid sales tax. No worries though. That'll end when the Feds finally go into full-blown Europe mode, and dump a VAT tax on us.
joel_brown
Ok, then go online and browse the ProSound equipment... Oh here's a thought - why didn't the OP Google the question ??? Seriously it's nice to buy from a local music store for the reason that you can try it before you buy it. I also haven't seen one yet that won't match an online price. TPOW
16 ohms? I got one of those Carvin TS100 amps it is stereo at 4, 8, or 16 ohms also got the 6l6 upgrade & I can't wait to get another one, I run a 4-12 400 watts cab at 4 ohms it can get very loud and without distorting the speakers, an all around good clean sound, which is why I hope they incorporate being able to control the amp bypass volume by assigning it to the expression peddle on the next firmware update, that's my clean channel, so go to ideascale and vote it up!!
