i know guys that have pedal boards and I think this would come in handy in that case. If the modeling is acceptable to someone, it could replace several pedals you often only use once in a signal path. Like a delay.

Lots of similar comments over on TGP. Some think it rather expensive for what it does, but an Eventide H9 only does one effect at a time, and a lot of boutique pedals in the same price range are one trick ponies that only do reverb, delay, or whatever.

I have a cheapo, cheapo Zoom MS-70CDR that can do up to 5 FX simultaneously, and has some things that even Helix doesn't have - reverse reverb for example.

Now we shall have to wait and see how soon the next HX firmware will land, once this HX One has launched.

I still have my MS-50G by Zoom.  An absolutely amazing pedal.  Used it back when I used pedals.  You could cycle through multiple presets with the button press (A->B->C->A).  I used it for solo boots, had a delay + EQ for loud solos, also used it for various trick sounds.  It had a lot of really really great effects, as well as amps!  There was no gap when switching between presets... unless the effect was very complicated... it would fade in rather than there being a silent gap.  I never had to use the amps, but I'm sure with some tweaking they could have been more than usable.

The only issue I kept having was the knobs were in the way, so I removed the knobs and trimmed the stems, so they were out of the way, but I could still adjust things as needed.  Zoom effects are really great...

Zoom MS > HX One for sure!

One effect at a time. I can see why some people would use it, Not me. Interesting choice. I didn't notice, does it handle IR's if you want it to?

No, it doesn’t handle IRs. It’s not an amp/cab modeler.

Replacement for the M5. I might get one to use with my Catalyst.

MS-50g/MS-70CDR - no MIDI. Need MIDI.

Didn't notice if they had a tuner. Need tuner.

HX ONE - has MIDI and tuner.

Also - in 4cm, loop can be positioned pre or post effect.

Also - has one switch looper.

IIRC when I looked into small MIDI controllers I preferred the Ampero Control for the DIN plugs (I don't trust BT) and easier configuration SW.

I think it had more options too, but it's been a while since I compared them.

I might end up with an HXFX for the Cat rig, just for my MIDI needs. And the million effects ;-) !

Screw it, I'll just put my Helix Floor in its fancy backpack and forget all the doo-dads.

Did anyone ever figure out what the cartridge loops are for?

The point here is really just that a lot of people bought, and still use, the M5, and the HX ONE is the replacement for that.

One slightly oversized stomp box that can be most any effect L6 offers, with support going forward.

I'm betting it sells like hotcakes.

HX One is the new M5

Had to look up M5.

Effect modelling.  One at a time.  Like HX One.

So yes.  I was right.

It's a lower cost alternative to an H9.

I had to look up the H9.

$300 vs $600 so definitely a lower cost alternative.

plus I hear it’s popular in the shoegaze community.

It certainly is, as the basic setup for the “shoegaze” community, consists of the usual suspects - Fuzz, Overdrive, Chorus, Delay and Reverb - lots of it. All five effects available simultaneously in one inexpensive box - that’s why it’s popular, also with keyboard players.

Zoom actually list which items their Multi Stomp effects are based on. Unsurprisingly, quite a few are lifted from the Line 6 M9, including the Particle Verb. Also, many other effects are lifted from, Strymon, Eventide, EHX, TC Electronic to name a few. Oh, yeah, and a reverse reverb modelled on the DigiTech RV7 (Lexicon).

With one of these little boxes, and something like a Mooer Baby Bomb, you could get through a small club gig at very little expense.

I did not think it was an amp/cab modeler. Of course it's not. If it was, it would already have some amp/cab models in it. Of course it would. There are "regular" size pedals that do IR's out there. I thought it would be a no brainer to include the ability to load and use an IR if it was an easy thing to implement. Since I have no idea how easy or not easy it is, I was just pondering things.

Not for me; and not really familiar with the competition in this space.  I don't really get it though.  Don't people think "I need a gain pedal" or "I need reverb".  And then, flexibility in that need is great, but "I need a pedal that can only do one of those two things at a time" seems like a recipe for "no, I actually need that in two different pedals".

I would understand this more if it cost $199 and came in varieties focused on a specific family.  So you buy the gain one and the reverb one and put them on the same pedal board.

For it's capabilities, the price is just fine. It's not much different than a single high end pedal and the usage is up to your needs/imagination.

Need a Drop pedal on one song.... got it

Need to do a simple synth line on that cars tune... got it

Need a rotary effect that can ramp up... got it

Need a tremolo for a tune... got it

Need a chorus for that one tears for fears song you do... got it

Need a phase for that Waylon tune... got it

.... you get the point

I am sure it is going to find a nice home on many pedal boards.

How do i access my hx one built-in factory 128 preset. On the screen It shows here 4 preset only.  Every time i both press ON button and tap/flux button. it doesn't come out the built-in  128 presets. Only 4 preset shows, anyone can share ideas, appreciated thanks,
