  1. I believe the underlying sentiment behind his statement was "In the name of all that is decent and holy, please let this bring and end to this pointless discussion". Clearly it has had the opposite effect....

  2. Consider some smaller patch sets for two separate audiences: 1) folks in cover bands wanting to accurately copy artist/song sounds (e.g. Van Halen, Another Brick in The Wall, etc), and 2) folks in original bands or studio/recording artists who focus on great amp tone (e.g. LoneStar, Matchbook, crunch, lead, clean, etc; ), then customize with their own fx based on song needs). Also nice: small single coil only collection for us strat purists.

  3. Upstairs on the eighth floor of a four storey building, I'd suspect. Either that or at the Common Sense Department of his brain.

  4. The correct power supply is very important the output is AC not DC like most aftermarket power supplies that could damage the guitar. What you need is a Line6 px2 power supply.

  5. Big Sky is out of the box, you don't even have to know how those verbs are built up. Bit different with the helix, you have to understand the sound you're trying to replicate. There are lot of great examples on customtone, here's mine: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/3664975/ Here's few more: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/3211411/ https://line6.com/customtone/tone/3735301/ Try out parallel chains, separate the wet and dry sounds. On the wet side, try to use some modulations (like chorus, univibe, flanger) and delays with the reverbs. I sold my big sky a year and a half ago. I was missing it pretty much, but when FW2.50 got released, it absolutely satisfied my needs, long live Line6! EDIT: Also, great resource from Jason Sadites:

  6. The default values for the deep amp parameters are the closest to the real amps being modeled. There.

  7. Well that's a relief... seems I'm curious after all. Who knew? And just yesterday I agreed to be on the cover of the July issue of "Indifferent Sad-Sack" magazine... if they find out I like stuff, it's gonna ruin my interview...;)

  8. Frustrating to only be able to read the title of Snapshots 1-4 in Snap/Stomp setting ! Would be great if Snapshot names would auto scroll to 5-8. thoughts? j

  9. It's strange, because I too have a 7string tuned in Drop G# and Tube comp really gives my that punch in the pick attack I want in the low strings. I place it right before my OD with threshold:40% and level 0% How do you set the red comp?

  10. Glad to hear you figured it out. Technology can certainly be a wonderful thing. I'm quite satisfied with 500x also. There is a downside though. The more you dig in, the greater the chance of subjecting yourself to hours, days, and weeks of frustration; this kind of depends on your personality. If you're the type that likes to try nearly every possibity (which the 500x supplies in large quantities) be prepared for that.

  11. I hooked up my HD500X via USB for the first time tonight. After the initial driver installation (with seemingly no problem) I received an error message when connecting to edit software (see posted pic). As suggested, I disconnected/connected the hardware and started/re-started the software (more than one cycle) with same results. So then I tried to start completely over by uninstalling the Pod drivers. Now when I plug it in via USB it can't find any drivers to install...how cool! So, it won't install or recognize when the Pod is plugged in. Off to a great start! I searched for a similar error code on here but didn't find anything, so hopefully I'm not rehashing something that's already been discussed. I know how you guys love it when that happens. dj
