The Firehawk FX is outstanding in every way except one, "NO PC/MAC editing software, WHY? Some of us don't have an ipad or android device. Our laptops are as mobile as it gets. "PLEASE RELEASE A PC/MAC VERSION OF THE EDITOR SOFTWARE."

@bluebirdrad Almost there :) One more missing item The Lehle is a parallel mixer, true bypass pedal. So if I want to play the HX Stomp as a wet effects only effect, I would kill the dry signal and set 100% wet (using parallel routes and volume pedal effect blocks) in Snapshot mode. But if I want to go straight to the board, then I simply remove the Lehle from the set up and plug straight to the HX Stomp and out of it straight to the board. More often though I just bring a Fender Deluxe Reverb and plug this set up through a 2nd out, split by an ABY box (Radial Engineering) and have the mix to where it is a good balance of dry and wet. So I use the wet only mixed with my dry signal. The Deluxe Reverb has 2 independent channels so that is cool. I find overdrives love darker channels and chorus and mod effects prefer brighter channels, that’s why I split them.

@bluebirdrad Wow! Amazing routing options! I didn’t think you could insert two instruments that way! I too play acoustic, sometimes live with both my Electric on the same night. Been a while since I did that though. I use a Pedalbot Midi Controller. Pretty standard device, where I live, the Philippines, it’s hard to get anything like midi controllers. Lucky a guy builds them here. Reasonably priced too. I use it to access all the screens: Scroll, Stomp, Preset and Snapshot with two foot switches then the other two, one for tuner and one for tap tempo. Love it! I am still in the process of building my board.

Yeah, it's not going to hurt anything but the levels might be a factor. As already mentioned start low and increase to taste. Note that this is how a lot of external computer and smartphone speakers work - you connect them to the device's headphones jack.

Since the AudioEngines are powered speakers, not at all. But you might want to be sure that you start off with the phones volume turned way down.

There's no problem with you being happy. But there's also no problem with me asking for some things (which I have extremely good reasons for). And no, it's not weird at all.

I'm somewhat on the 'Humbug-Side' ... ;-) Maybe my ears are underdelevoped, but i am more than satisfied (better: overwhelmed) by the number of models ... i don't really hear the difference between 50 Overdrives and most of the amps are pretty flexible in creating a lot of tones....esp. by adding arbitrary combinations of them and cabs and IRs and .... I don't see serious 'gaps' in the spectrum of possible sounds and can't imagine some overdrives or amps (modelled after real ones) bringing completely new sounds and flavours to the device. Just even more scrolling to do .... ;-)

I discovered the “Gain” effect yesterday. Love it that it is just a transparent volume boost. I set up foot switches as effects On/Off, FS1 for modulation, FS2 for delays and FS3 for boost. Additional footswitches via a midi controller so I am not limited to just the three switches.

It’s funny, my wife keeps saying when it’s a chore, am always “tired” but when it has something to do with the guitar, I am never tired!

Hi Bluebirdrad! I agree. I did take some time to work on the presets and just learning how to use the unit. It wasn’t that hard thankfully (manual + Youtube!) and so after about a day (that long Hehehe), I was familiar enough that I was really just working on getting some tones off the Hx Stomp and no longer “where is what and how to do”? Interface is very nice. Makes a lot of sense. Sounds great to me! I am also checking out the Send/Return. I have a Sansamp Blonde (set clean), plugged it in the effects loop and removed the Sansamp’s Cab Sim. I then turned on the HX Stomp’s Cab Sim (1x12 Deluxe). I now have the Sansamp as a “block”. The Cab Sim of the HX went next. I then tried my drive pedals in front of the HX Stomp. Very nice too! Very flexible and great sounding unit. Great as a stand alone option or as part of a system. Definitely fun to use!

i see no reason not to use the exact appoach you would with the actual devices being modelled... I listened to the example in the videos and heard nothing particularly "lush"...just a pretty normal clean tone with a few fx shoved on - nothing special or difficult to get with Helix. Same with the distorted tones. very generic (not bad - I quite like them - but nothing hard to achieve with any of the mid gain amps and an overdive pedal...). I reckon I could copy those tones without even switching the monitors on.

For me, the EQ functions are the most powerful way to get to the tone I am seeking. In the Helix world I prefer the Simple EQ . Bass, treble, and sweep-able mid. The secret is the mid. To thicken it up I set the mid gain up and sweep the frequency to find the one I'm looking for. Then adjust it down as needed. Depending on the pickup I'm using on my Tele this can be in the range of 300 to 1200HZ. 1000HZ is a good starting point. To thin it out do the opposite. Then I adjust the bass and treble. To me, a "clean" tone still requires some harmonic distortion to fill it out and add sustain. If using an amp model I set the gain up to thicken it. Or add a "transparent" overdrive like the KWB or TeeMa. I have found that another way to thicken up a clean tone is to put an overdrive on path B and blend it in as needed. Trying to get that "edge of breakup" tone. Compressors can add sustain and many like to use them but I personally don't like them at least playing live. I would rather get the sustain and natural compression by driving the gain on the amp or overdrive. For more add gain. Sometimes just the right overdrive will get you there. Virtually any overdrive will add midrange as well but especially the Tube Screamer variations. The tone in the example sound to me really thinned out in the midrange And probably a Strat and not my Tele. I would use the EQ to get me there. And this is where I may use the compressor for sustain. If I were playing that live I would still push the gain to fatten it up. This is just my approach and probably stuff you already know. I would certainly like to know how others do it.

The new Command Center options in 2.9 are actually quite cool, and they're things that people have been asking for in one way or another for quite awhile. You'll be able to assign a snapshot (or two different snapshots) to any footswitch in Stomp Mode. You'll also be able to do the same thing with presets (so if you want to create something akin to a favorite preset switch, you can do it). You'll also be able to assign Looper functions to any Stomp switch, meaning you won't have to go into Looper Mode to use the 6-Switch Looper.

Hi, While you were checking out the stuff on the POD Go site, you may have seen the videos featuring the splendid Paul Hindmarsh. Not sure if you may be interested, but Paul has posted to CustomTone a couple of the presets which he created for the NAMM demo session.
