  1. Apologies if this topic is covered. I want to power my rig using DC from a Deep Cycle battery. Helix is the only device with onboard power converter (probably no coincidence it's also the biggest power drain). Per the labeling, Helix requires 60 watts AC. Given other Line6 gear powered by 12v / 5a it seems pretty safe to assume that's how 60 watts is derived. It's fairly easy to connect a power inverter to a battery. The lunacy with inverting is that the power costs 85% inefficiency, for a device that wants DC in the first place! So for a deep cycle battery that should not discharge more that 50%, for any device that needs inversion I need to essentially halve again. Meaning I get only 25% of the capacity of any battery. Any recommendations?

  2. yes: it's called command center. You can customize your pedalboard view to have any configuration you want: stomps/snapshots/next preset/previous preset.

  3. Not really - a backup file is absolutely everything that is in your hardware at the time the backup is made. Yes, run 'Restore From Backup' available from under the File drop down Menu. Then you choose which back up file to restore from - it usually has the Date and Time stamp of the last backup you made. When you choose your backup file you can then select which items you would like to restore to your hardware. Example, Global Settings, Impulse Responses, Favourites, User Model Defaults and your Preset setlists. This is usually an Indication that the Globals have not being restored properly. First rule of Firmware updates is - never update to a new version prior to a gig, or recording session. Hope this helps/makes sense.

  4. It's like buying headphones... you'll either love or hate whatever you get... unless you can try them first, you kinda have to cross your fingers and hope for the best. Just make sure that the wire is replaceable... that'll be what eventually craps out. The earpieces themselves should last forever as long as you don't knock them around too much.

  5. Sounds like you restored too recent a backup. Perhaps one from after your update. To restore your old global settings, you needed to restore one that was made either during the automated update process, or a prior backup. Looks like you got it worked out though so onwards and upwards.

  6. If you have not already done the following, do so: Uninstall HX Edit from your computer. Redownload and install a fresh copy of HX Edit 3.15. It should handle installing all the necessary drivers to your computer. Once it has completed successfully, then connect your Helix hardware to your computer. Use the Original Line 6 provided USB Cable and connect to the USB port closest to your computer's power connection. Do not use a USB Hub. Power on your Helix, HX Edit should recognize your Helix device and prompt you that an Update is available. Follow all the instructions precisely! If the above is not successful, open a Support Ticket with Line 6 and call them Tomorrow. They will get you sorted out.

  9. Just this evening I too started to get this message popping up. It is repeatable by selecting the same preset. A preset I have multiple copies of and works without the issue when they are selected. It happens if I select the present through HX Edit or if I choose it directly on the Helix LT. Note that I have installed and used the new 3.15 the day it came out and only now is this starting to happen. (Kicking myself, I usually wait and let others break new software or have it break them.) I see one person on here mentioning this issue, anyone else out there? Any suggestions?

  10. I am having the same type of issue (Helix LT) I changed the wah (exp1) bypass on a bunch of presets (most of them built from the same template) from bypassing with the toe switch to bypass the wah with 99% position, 1000 Msec, and Toe Down behavior. I save each of the presets with the change. Upon opening any preset that I haven't made the bypass change from the toe switch yet, going back to the any of presets that I've made the above change to, the behavior is reset from Toe Down to Toggle. This happens when I open unmodified presets regardless of whether I modify or save the preset . But if I then change the behavior on just one of the modified bypass presets back to Toe Down, even without saving, most of the presets I've modified change back to Toe Down. But some stay on Toggle. I can't figure out what causes some to change back to Toe Down, and why some stay on toggle. I did a backup/reset/restore, with the EXP1 parameters as above, behavior toe down. After restore, all of the presets had the behavior reset to Toe Up (not toggle, and not toe down as they'd been saved)). Changing them back to toe down, save, and go to another preset, and SOMETIMES it is reset. But not always. I haven't been able to figure out any pattern to it. All I can say for sure it that the bypass behavior setting is not stable. If I reset the exp bypass as above, and open a preset that doesn't have a wah or block that uses EXP1, there is no change to the behavior parameter. But if I create a preset with just one block of any type, and assign EXP 1 with the above parameters, the behavior parameter will change in multiple presets as I change it, regardless of saving. If there is a test someone at Line 6 wants me to do, I'm game.

  11. Hey guys! I have opened a support ticket regarding this issue. Line 6 was very helpful sent me a step by step solution to this problem...and it worked perfectly! It seems that I was forgetting one of the steps before. Helix Native is now running on my Macbook air m1 with macOS Monterey! Here it is: " Below are the files to uninstall. It's crucial to remove the files/folders from the hidden library: 1) /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/Line 6/Helix Native.aaxplugin 2) /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Helix Native.component 3) /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Line 6/Helix Native.vst ; /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Line 6/Helix Native.vst3 4) /Library/Application Support/Line 6/Helix Native/ -- this folder contains all the stuff that makes Helix Native work. You'll see data and res folder; just delete the entire Helix Native folder for a clean slate. 5)~/Library/Application Support/Line 6/Helix Native/* *Note this ~/Library is your user library and is hidden. Hold Command/Shift/and Period to access. Once completed, download the latest version, reinstall, and reauthorize. With version 3.15, you shouldn't need to run it in Rosetta mode. " -> Line 6 Support didn't actually specified, but the steps 1,2,3 and 4 can be accessed straight from Macintosh HD -> Library In step 5 the files were located at Macintosh HD -> Users -> [user name] -> Library I am not sure this will be applied to every user, but I would definitely check both files... I also deauthorized my computer before reinstalling the new version at line 6 website just to make sure. And please remember to save a backup library.

  12. This was my first update since updating to 3.11 from 2.xx when I first bought my Helix LT. I'm aged 66 & no tech wiz, but I followed the (very clear) instructions & everything went perfectly, after noting the comments above regarding Helix Native, I've also managed to update that with no problem. As has been said before : read the instructions first- it saves a lot of hassle. :)

  13. I agree with the suggestion of Datacommando. Those MBritt patches were PERFECT for me when I was starting out on the Helix LT, ooo over a year ago now. MBritt is actually a Kemper guru and only did this one pack for the Helix. The pack is aimed at the more "traditional" guitar player, i.e. not metal or shred styles. There are a couple of good demos on Youtube, you will see that they are simple basic tones aplenty, nothing too wacky! Having bought this pack, I selected just 3 presets as a base, and am still using 2 of those today as my core sound with my band (rock and pop covers). What I love is that each patch doesnt only sound good on my studio monitors here at home, they sound just as good through an FRFR at rehearsal with a 5 piece band. YMMV. cheers plunky

  15. MusicLaw has a good point to run an Ammeter on it for actual power usage. the 60 Watts is rated max, so it probably doesn't hit that draw and probably operates significantly less. Here's why this isn't as simple as your solution: 5a / 12v = 60 watts for planning (battery capacity deteriorates, so conservative estimates will last longer over time and use): 6 hours play time 360 watt hours / equals 30 amp hours include the 85% inverter inefficiency = 55.5 amp hours for deep cycle batteries, damage occurs at greater than 50% discharge: 111 amp hours for 6 hours of Helix play time. The reason this makes me nuts is, all the other gear (6 other devices for 6 hours) only needs 23 amp hours and doesn't require inversion. Using the same calculations above minus inversion: I need 46 amp hours (round to 50) for all other devices, and 111 amp hours for Helix because of the insanity of Inverting DC to AC, to power a device that wants DC in the first place. Thanks for this reccomendation jbuhajla - I never really considered a gas generator, and these are appreciably quiet. The 1000w @$400 would make the rig simpler to design and operate, and would cost about the same as a deep-cell battery battery solution. But it's not as "green" or techie cool, and is not silent.

  16. That’s perfectly normal - I don’t understand why you might think it is complicated. You don’t mention what computer you are using, but it doesn’t particularly matter, because you could load up YouTube, find a backing track and play along. On a Mac with iTunes I can jam along with any track that I choose to playback. You managed to totally confuse me, also “rd2rk” and yourself.Too many White Russians? Just do it. Hope this helps/makes sense.

  17. Dude, you really could do with getting your attitude readjusted. You obviously didn’t read what I posted. I said, that you do not need to load a song in a DAW, use YouTube or whatever. But, hey - I can expect nothing better from someone who wants to listen to the sound from computer speakers. Ye gods - I despair! https://line6.com/support/topic/33493-usb-audio-question/
