  1. The 2.0 Firmware sound much quieter than previous firmwares. Roll back to 1.9 and test it for yourself. Half of users found the last update a complete fiasco in many ways. Myself included, of course
  2. Analog Devices SHARC ADSP 333Mhz (2.0 GFLOPS) VS. ADSP-21369 400Mhz (2.4 GFLOPS) 20% increase.
  3. Or a completely new generation, together with new Pods, who knows? ;)
  4. With early versions of the firmware of the JTV, (or the previous generation of Variax) yes there was a Factory Bank (read only) accessible through the POD where you have the original intact models (but which are not accessible without the POD). But after a certain firmware version, there is no Factory bank in the JTVs anymore. Just the User bank. Therefore, to preserve this function in the JTV you will have to stay in a previous version of firmware.
  5. So... Yes, indeed. First World Problems are frustrations and complaints that are only experienced by privileged individuals in wealthy countries. In this country we have to worry about fascism, the financial dictatorship, and poverty to which most of the population faces: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304384104579143622939183810
  6. I had a Bass POD XT live and X3 live and sold both because I'm pretty happy with the HD500 I have now. You may need to make some modifications to the amp settings and apply some sustractive EQ to make the amps models to work better with a bass, and of course add some extra gain, but you don´t need to figure all this for yourself since you can download my presets, which are already published in this forum: http://line6.com/support/topic/263-bass-patches-pod-hd-series/ The next V4 version is almost ready, by the way. The only thing I really miss from previous models is the equalizer. I think this feature has been getting worse, being less practical and more confusing with each successive model. In these days you can buy the HD500 (not 500X) pretty cheap becouse is being descontinued.
  7. Many people are experimenting this using OSX, for sure: http://line6.com/support/topic/2670-pod-hd-tone-edit-keeps-crashing-with-macbook-pro/ If you do not touch any expression pedal the editor is completely stable. I have been using it for years and never experienced a crash in any other situation except if we including that precise fact in the equation, so, from my point of view this is a problem that is already completely isolated, it is very easy to replicate by the development team, and my support ticket has already been sent. I really wish they are able to fix this annoying bug for the sake of us all. I'll let you know what they tell me.
  8. Here are the screenshots I've done. This time HD Edit crashed after 12 minutes using the onboard pedal assigned to "pan" (no matter what, isn´t related to anything specific): If you try to reopen HD Edit, then: At this point, you have to restart the POD HD (that means turn off sequencer, audio monitors, audio interface, pod, etc). Although for some can be an amazing thing, I really need to have the editor running at all times. In fact, I never use the pod without the editor, because it is always connected to my audio interface via S/PDIF, I sit in front the computer to play, and do not even use the unit itself to change presets, but the editor. In short, I want to have the editor always running. Is it too much to ask that the editor does not crash like it does? I have 3 variaxes (700, 705 bass and JTV-89), before I had a Bass Pod XT live and Pod X3 Live, and probably I´ll buy the next multieffects unit from Line 6, so I think I'm not suspected of being a hater or anything related. What happens here are proven facts: POD HD editor crashes when using any expression pedal for a while.
  9. As a proud 705 Variax Bass owner, absolutely yes, sir!. This time I would prefer a modern look, maybe somewhat similar to the Ibanez SR series, with thin neck, lighter body and preferably in amber finish.
  10. Well... if you don't use an expression pedal with edit, or even understand why anyone would, obviously you've never experienced this, but that does not mean it does not happening, doesn´t it?. Do not misunderstand me, I do not mean to be grumpy, but that has been an answer somewhat out of this world , except for the link to the support ticket, something that, on the other hand, I appreciate.
  11. I have 3 different mac computers and a IT degree, so I´m pretty sure isn´t related to any of my machines. I have so little hope that this will get fixed because has been a long time, and we are far more closer than away from the time in what Line 6 replaces the current series with a new series of products (yes, including X models, which are essentially the same). This bug has always happened, from the very begining as a said before, so it necessarily has to be a well known bug that has never been solved. I guess for many people this may not be too serious, but in a home studio environment represents a major drawback, unless you turn off the damn HD EDIT before you use any of the expression pedals to prevent crashes. This is not happening on the precise spot you start to use the expression pedals, you can use it for a while before it crashes (maybe a few minutes) but it will crash, for sure. You can test all this by yourself easily, using the onboard expresion pedal. Just load any Wah and play for 5-15 minutes while HD EDIT is running. I will post some screenshots here. Where I can get a support ticket, by the way? Is this the way to report a bug?
  12. Take a look here: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/ampTone#noiseGates
  13. Over OS X (any version) the POD HD Edit crashes if you use the expresion pedal (onboard or external) for a while. When this happens, you cant just reopen the app again unless you turn off the unit completely (otherwise it shows an error message and doesn´t load anything from the POD). This is being a big pain in the arse for me, becouse I have to turn off Logic Audio, my studio monitors, my audio interface, the POD itself, then reconnect the whole chain, just to load HD Edit again. This is happening from the very begining, no matter what OS X version or POD firmware, it´s definitely a software bug that they have not solved yet. (and something about which I have very little hope that they do at this point)
  14. Same problem here. Just downloaded the new firmware and updated from file: http://line6.com/software/index.html Completely irrelevant update, btw. And, of course, HD500 Edit still crashing on OS X when using the expression pedal for a while (having to turn on/off the whole unit to reconnect). Seems obvious that they are unable to fix this.
  15. Both units have the same loop time. The main purpose of the loop function is not using it as if it were a dedicated looper, but rather record an audio clip and hear the changes while editing effects and amp simulations (it is very uncomfortable to be editing parameters squating or kneeling and playing at the same time) Personally, I have a Boss RC-300 LoopStation permanently connected to the HD500´s FXloop, plus a MIDI cable to keep both units in sync (In fact, I think and use both as if they were a single unit), but still find very useful that included small looper with pre/post options available for editing purposes.
  16. Is 2.0 firmware the biggest fiasco in terms of software of the history of Line 6? :o Undoubtedly. It is incredible that ye be not ashamed. We, the customers, we are. Ashamed and very disappointed.
  17. I have no idea, but I think it should be similar. Perhaps not so cool, with more ugly veining of wood, which may explain why they have chosen dark finishes. Still, I think it would look good with a natural finish. I'd really like to see the result, if someone is brave enough to do so. You will find some pictures of the wood here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/line6photos/5516384934/in/photostream/lightbox/ "Cutting JTV-89 bodies" "Stack of JTV-89 ready for paint"
  18. Mine is "blood red", but I wish they would have sold a korean model with natural or amber finish. Supposedly there is a US model available with this kind of finish: but have never seen a real photo apart from this: http://line6.com/support/manuals/jtv89us
  19. Variax Acoustic 300 doesn´t have VDI connector (unlike the 700 acoustic, which does have) but there is no reason why you can not use it with any multieffects processor. The HD500/X doesn't have any modelled acoustic amplifiers, that´s true, but the fact is you do not need any, actually. And there are about 90 custom presets in customtone related to acoustic guitars, in addition to those included in the factory presets (they are few, but some sound really good, no need to have a dedicated modeling amp) What you are looking in an amp for any acoustic instrument is to be as flat as possible. And there is no an amplifier flatter than no amp at all.
  20. I´ve found the photos here: http://www.voxhumana.nl/index.php/nl/photo-galeries/102-variax-700-met-extra-pickups It´s made by a dutch luthier. As I said earlier in this thread, I really like the shape and color (among other things) of my variax 700 amber, so I'm seriously considering putting on humbuckers (take a look at post #40 ), but that would be the day that the electronics stop working, for use as a standard electric guitar. For this reason I have asked that question to you (mentioned in my previous post)
  21. By the way...I have a question that maybe you can help me solve. Regarding overall building quality ... What price range would correspond to a Vax 700 guitar as if it were a normal guitar? (I mean, the price could have had sold new as a standard electric guitar) Of course, we must take into consideration the price of the magnetic pickups, so if we assume that it had a couple of Seymour Duncan humbuckers –something like the SD Hot Rodded set: SH-2N + SH-4 JB–, How much do you think that would cost this –made in japan– guitar sold new? (and not necessarily under the L6 brand)
  22. More pics of a VAX 700 with magnetic pickups, this time in a S-S-H configuration:
  23. In the last drivers update for POD HD500/500X, the POD HD PRO X was mentioned. So YES, IS COMING. The specs will be essentially the same. Just a slighty better DSP ( < 20% improved)
  24. My two beauties, head to head. Time for a threesome? Sorry, redhead, but I still love my blonde. I hope you do not get jealous. She is not, at all. I like that, girls. keep it up. Beautiful necks.... Her cleavage is allways motivating. And those pretty shoulders... Perhaps it is better that we all go to bed. No one has to go now. It will be much better if we stick together. By the way, redhead, have you ever been experienced?
  25. Here: http://ow.ly/i/3Ayj Original post: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=35474&view=findpost&p=498326 It´s made by a brazilian luthier. I also like the look of the 700 without pups, but we all have to assume that the electronics will fail someday. And I'm glad to know that even then I can still use the guitar, spending a little more money in the work of a good luthier.
