  1. Did this happen even with the 1.2 F/W update? If so please create a ticket with support. jpd
  2. Please forgive me if either of you you have already done the following ... and if so, create a ticket on the main line6.com page using the feedback link on the lower left about 2/3rds down ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Have either of you seen the update on the download page when you go there even though you say the download itself is the wrong version? And have you cleared cache in your browser as well as deleted any pointers to the original 1.1 download? And checked compatibility, Let other Mac OS users know by replying. If possible the OP may want to add - Mac iOS to the Topic. jpd
  3. Scroll down about 2/3rds on the line6.com main page and look for the following on the lower left. Click on LEARN MORE.
  4. From Line 6 Ripple—Controls how much AC ripple interacts with your tone. Power amp circuits will sometimes let a little bit of rectified 120Hz hum (that the power supply filter caps can't quite fully remove) into the audio signal when the power supply is being pushed hard. Much like Hum, Ripple provides a bit of non-musical distortion to the power amp at distorted settings. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Just to baseline my findings, I use my headphones (open back 250ohm) for initial preset creation and playback. I have been tracking a disturbing "remnant" when playing a hot solo since I started using the Helix Stadium. As I was working on patch from another thread in this forum I tried something that has completely removed the "remnant" (or reduced it to below anything I can now hear). I set the Ripple value for the amp model to the lowest value available (so far either zero or minus 10 based upon the amp model). I haven't tested every amp. Of the ones I use right now only the VOX AC models still retain the annoyance even at the lowest setting for the Ripple value. Again, this is just my ear. You may not hear it as pronounced as I do or you may hear it more pronounced. With all the additional values Line 6 have been using with the new capturing it could be I never noticed it as predominant in the older Helix Floor I had. In fact I normally set Ripple, along with Sag, a few clicks higher than default. And I no longer own the Helix Floor for me to test. I thought I would share if this helps anyone else noticing an annoying remnant to a note as it is sustained and vibrato-ed as well. jpd
  5. Note to all, For clarity and focus it may be best to start a new thread if the topic of the question you have doesn't directly relate to the the OP (original poster) Topic (in this case "Stadium XL update 1.2 problem"). Just a thought. jpd
  6. Dougz51, I haven't tried with the v1.2 yet but with v1.1 on a Windows PC AND installing the ASIO driver after the amp only using the USB-C from the Stadium to the USB-C connection on my PC, playing YouTube vids to play along with works great. I use my headphones for playback. jpd
  7. Silverhead,

I read this on the KB for tips and tricks concerning the ASIO,

    • On Windows, users will need to install the Helix Stadium ASIO Driver or Helix Stadium application for Line 6 Central to connect with their Stadium. Both of those installers include the required WinUSB driver. The driver install requires a reboot.

They both have the Win USB driver but when I updated the App on my windows machine the ASIO did not update.  I will dug deeper next time when the next update comes out.  And I should have pointed to installing on a Windows PC.  Am I missing something?  I did not have the option to choose the ASIO when the app updated via logging into the app itself for the update install on the PC.

Let me know if I missed something.  My old eyes could have played tricks on me.

    Thanks

    Dennis

      Hi Dennis.

I saw that paragraph in Tips and Tricks, and I believe it was necessary to install the driver separately in early days. Since then it has been added to the app installation bundle. I can’t explain why you experienced the installation failure, or the lack of option to install it during the app installation.

Here’s what the latest version of the manual says in the USB Audio section:

For Windows® computers, it is recommended to install the Line 6 Helix Stadium ASIO® driver for low-latency, 8-in/out functionality with DAW host applications (it is installed by default with the Helix Stadium application). Note that a restart of your computer will be required for the driver installation.”

Hopefully you won’t need to perform the extra step in the future.

btw… thanks for your active participation here. I’ve noticed that you’ve been providing lots of clear and concise information.

  8. HeartySalmon, I think I located the issue. I set the Boost on the Kinky Boost to adjust by snapshot. That isn't the root issue but doing this will help. At this point the Kinky Boost FX block is on for all the snap shots. For the Clean Snapshot I have the Boost parameter off. For Drive SN and Lead SN I leave the Boost parameter on. I've attached my version for you to test. Also, I discovered something concerning the Ripple parameter for the amp that I will address in a new post. Let me know your thoughts, jpd BogDennis.hsp
  9. I still notice popping using the Bogner preset using v1.20 F/W update when going from snapshot 3 back to SN1 or SN2. Not as pronounced but still slightly audible. I do not hear a pop using the 808 preset. If you've already updated to v1.2 do you still hear the pop on 808 or is the pop still the same on the Bogner presets for you? Let me know once you've updated what your findings are. And if Line 6 support gave any recent feedback. Thanks jpd
  10. As most know from the Helix Floor I had, and making sure I was logged into the Stadium device; I export my presets because in my world my backups have backups. I then entered maintenance mode to create a backup. Next, while still In maintenance mode, I reset the Stadium to factory default & shut it down using the maintenance mode button for that. After logging into the Stadium desktop app, I used the app update feature on my PC to update the app first. While waiting on the app update process to complete I started the Stadium, reconnected to my network and entered the password (reset to default requires that step), logged in to Line 6 on the Stadium, and started the F/W update download. While waiting for the F/W download to complete, I went to the Line 6 site download for the latest ASIO driver download since it is not automatic at this time, installed it, then rebooted my PC again. The F/W update was ready by that time and, after a few minutes, my Stadium was successfully updated after which I turned it off. I then restarted the Stadium in maintenance mode, restored from backup, then shutdown again. While that is a lot to type the time went rather swiftly and successfully. That is my experience, YMMV. jpd
  11. Sorry for the late reply. Internet circuit at my home and surrounding 4 mile radius was down for about 40 hours since Sunday. The USB-A does send power. It is the way the USB-Network adapter will need to be powered to work for the computer wired connection. Good experimental test. I am not sure of the power signal but it should be hot enough to power simple devices based up the rating in the UPDATE portion I have added as well as provide a charge your USB v2.0 or v3.0 power charging capable phone or tablet if needed in a pinch. I guess we could call this an "undocumented feature". It would be good to create a ticket just to make sure it doesn't have an adverse affect on the Stadium hardware. While I doubt it, it would be good to get Line 6's blessing as well as what the power rating is; v2.0 or v3.0. I am going out in a limb due to the latest USB-A to ethernet adapters are v3.0 [UPDATE] USB-A power specs start at a basic 5V at 0.5A (2.5W) for USB 2.0, but increase with newer standards to 5V at 0.9A (4.5W) for USB 3.0 Here's a breakdown by USB version and charging spec: USB 1.x/2.0 (Standard Port): 5V @ 0.5A (2.5W). USB 3.x (Standard Port): 5V @ 0.9A (4.5W). jpd
  12. I was revisiting this thread and tested to see if my experience is consistent. So here is what I have found on my own if I do not change the colors manually after assignment YMMV Test for assumptions about what Line 6 considers the default auto color for several areas of the system; 1) Auto for presets is red 2) Auto for Snapshots is white 3) Auto for a single FX assigned a single footswitch is the default block color 4) Auto for multi-FX assigned to a single footswitch is the color of the first assigned FX block to a specific footswitch using the touch screen. 5) Auto for multi-FX assigned to a single footswitch is the color of the first assigned FX block to a specific footswitch in the app. The interesting this is that when I look at the Stadium unit itself the color of the footswitch is the same as the last assigned FX block in the app. There are times I want to assign a custom color based upon what I call the footswitch or the snapshot. I use a light blue for 12 string and pink for mandolin or dobro. For SAG I assigned multiple FX blocks to one footswitch and after 14 I stopped; not that I would want to do that. I do not know the limit but that has been my test to date. Anyway, for the why of this "auto" color selection you'd have to ask the line 6 engineers. TIAFN jpd
  13. Very cool. Thanks for the reply. My sound person from 2017 created a nice global EQ that I closely matched on the Stadium. I create my patches without it when I use the headphones. I engage it when testing using my FRFR since I can copy and paste the GEQ to the three individual output (1/4" XLR Headphone matrix). It was really effective for the in the room amp sound and cutting through the mix for my patches. I like the way this has been expanded for the Matrix. Good luck with the support ticket! Let us know the outcome once support gives the final piece of information. jpd
  14. Have you sent this to the Line 6 support ticketing system? If not please do. Good catch. The work around is good but not great. jpd
  15. The manual only states it must be formatted using the Helix Stadium process using its maintenance screen. You may want to call support for an exact answer. jpd
  16. The 808 patch does have the static pop. If I set the Level on the 808 to 4.3 or lower the static pop goes away. I only get the static pop in the Bogner preset when I return from the third snapshot (Lead) to either snapshot 2 (Drive) or 1 (Clean). I set the Structure on the Amp in Lead to Low and the pop is minimized but still there. I am wondering if the Line 6 team actually used the original 808 with the JRC4558 op-amp crystal. I know there were a couple mods done on the original if it was too ice-picky for the amp a player was using. If so that static pop may be inherent to the model itself. I may very well be wrong and they used a later model 808. You can use this thread to point them in the correct direction once you upload your presets in the ticket. Good luck. Now for the "pop" from Clean to Drive wasn't really static to my ear. What I am hearing is what my analog JP2C+ gets if I slam the front of it with a higher gain channel "hot" change. From my experience and the experiment I set up in my studio, the Line 6 model is working as expected when an analog amp goes through the same type of "hot" change. Sidebar, I create my patches using my headphones. Then I do a pre-board check a few hours before setup/soundcheck for the venue. It is there that the sound person and I work on the final volume settings. 99% of the time I do have to increase final volume either with a gain block added or the output level increased. I did go back to my Germain Liebe patch and adjust the 10 graphic to +4.4dB on the 2k band, +11.8dB on the 4k band, +8.6dB on the 8k band, and +5.4dB on the 16k band. I then increased the Matrix 1/4", XLR, Phones Output level to +7.2 on that patch. I put the input gate to on for snapshots 4, 5. &6. I then have a closer level matching your Bogner test. I do hope I've helped and not confused the issue. Also, we each have an individual "ear". What you love to hear for tone is unique for you and you should never change that because another's ear is different. Be you and play on! And remember to understand your FOH sound person is the true hero to help you cut through the mix. jpd
  17. I'll try yours and report back. I am using DT 990 Pro 250 ohm for playback. That could be the reason the preset was quieter than yours. I will find out. Glad to help. I tried to normalize the levels across the snapshots because I use the pots on my guitars for 95% of all volume nuances. I may have missed something since I use the 808 as a boost more than a drive. more L8r jpd
  18. One last thing which I forgot I do (I am that old). And there are those in the forum who may already know this that I am sharing to do and that I am old ;-). In addition to other settings I disable on my wireless systems (which I shared earlier in this thread), here are some screen shots for my PCs using the older "control panel -> network and sharing center -> change adapter settings -> right click on wi-fi adapter -> left click on properties" path. (I go the long way on most things) I then click on the configure button once the properties page comes up I choose the Advance tab then highlight "MIMO Power Saving Mode" and set the value at "No SMPS" after that i change the "Throughput Booster" to "Enabled" At this point I have never had an issue with my laptop or wi-fi adapters in towers I do not know the equivalent for the Mac users so I am relying on the knowledgeable mac users in this forum to help the Mac users. I hope this helps someone, jpd
  19. I do have the same issue. For me the Focus view in the app doesn't have a reduced representation of the model as well. Not sure if that is a factor.
  20. I did not notice any pops. I've attached a preset using the German Xtra Blue. It uses Stadium built in blocks (no custom IRs or anything) so no surprises for you that way. You can import if you'd like to test with my preset. It could be my playback of either headset or FRFR EV12. If you get the same pop in your environment just using the preset as I've set it up you will have to look at your playback. One caveat is, at this time, I am not using any other FX looped devices or otherwise other than the Helix Stadium XL itself and my headphones and FRFR. I would attach the double marshall preset, but, I've noticed that periodically, once I created the Marshall preset (I call it Gary's Blues) I have to go into global settings and reset the F6 mode 1 and F6 mode 2 setting by rolling off Stomp A and Snapshots then roll back when "stuck" in snapshots. In other words the Stadium will lock on Snapshots and Stomp A is unusable until I use the hamburger menu to "trick" F6. I will be opening a ticket with support on that issue. Hope this helps in your quandary. jpd German Liebe.hsp
  21. I agree. It would be nice. I do have a friend that is a one man band and he uses a rack with "within reach" access.
  22. As far as my presets using snapshots, I do not have the pop in between. One uses the EV Panama Blue amp, another uses a Mesa Rhythm 2, another uses a Mesa Lead and changes to a Mesa Rhythm 1 as needed. These three presets have amp adjustments (tone, gain, etc.) that also adjust via the snapshots. I set up one similar to Gary Moore's on stage of two Marshalls (though I couldn't get the same Marshall model I wanted due to DSP limits). One of the Marshalls is an Brit Plexi Agoura model and the other Marshall is a Brit J45 Nrm that is NOT from the legacy set of amps. These four also blend in and out FX blocks via snapshots. I use a meter to make sure all my snapshots are as "best case scenario" are full on level matched so the sound man doesn't hunt me, so to speak. No pop as I switch the various snapshots. One caveat is I do not use the default cab mics and adjust direction as well as distance for the ones I use, which are varied based upon my ear. Also, to note, I've used various analog Tube Screamers over the past (wow I'm that old but I refuse to say "back in my day" oh God I just typed it), well since they first came out. I use the Scream 808 more like a boost while using the Heir Apparent or the amp gain/vol/level settings for more "kick". And I might use a Blue Comp for the extended note technique with the amp settings at times. Now, for a preset where I was able to recreate a pop, I have one for the Agoura Fender Blackface (US Double Black) and Legacy Fender Blackface (US Double Nrm). I wanted to A/B them and see what settings I had to dial in to get them as close to equal level as possible. I set that up on a footswitch only and not using snapshots. While I was trying to normalize the volume I notice I do get a pop that sounds like static three or four out of five times I use the footswitch to run one on and one off alternatingly. It would be as if I'm hitting the front of the amp (as one turns off and the other turns on) with a old fuzzface. I'll setup a German Xtra Blue when I have time and report back if I get the pop. If I don't report back then I didn't get the pop. Hope this helps. Also, if you want to have Line 6 engineers really work through your issue you can upload them your preset when you create the support request using the online support link. jpd
  23. I connected the send 1 from my Stadium to the input for a stage monitor I have on hand. I set the FX loop 1 output to instrument because line level was too loud. Then I set the output for the tuner to send 1. When I used the tuner there is no output to FOH and the monitor gave me my ""on stage" audio. Adjusting the level output on the monitor, I was able to have a very controlled output volume to listen to my tuning as well as if I wanted to "test" a part without going through the board. If you have something like a Behringer EUROLIVE B105D (or smaller) and a On-Stage SSAS7000B it could be a solution for about $150.00 without having to bend over. Just a thought. jpd
  24. Here is a video for the older Helix unit. Since the Helix Stadium has midi capability. The USB connection will be the tricky part. And there are other videos I discovered when I did the initial google search for more ideas.
  25. I just finished creating two presets using a dual amp and dual speaker setup. I'm going to be trying some live tests either later tonight or first thing in the morning before an exam I have. I will report back after noon PDT tomorrow.
