This actually started last night. I was logging in and after using three different computers I have at home to make sure it wasn't "me", I went back to leisurely setting u p presets and snapshots.

My big question is ... when? :blink: Dennis

I noticed this as well. However, when I save the preset/snapshot with the block the selector is on is empty, for lack of a better way to describe it, I do not have this issue as I move back and forth between presets.

I have been able to get away with just the Helix. Our genre is varied as it goes from Miranda Lambert to AC/DC as well as 20th to 21st century playlists. I was using three Mesas before ... an EL84 .50 Cal, a early Mark III no dot with IIC+ components, and a v2 "Blackface" Heartbreaker. I have been able to get a very close sound and response for the varied music I use. Having said that, there are many players in this forum and others that use the Helix as well as other modelers in tandem with their amps. SO, you will get many responses and replies. However, it does come down to your ear. No one can really tell you it will work for you. Only you can decide that after playing a rig setup you are envisioning. One thing to consider that I have found coming from no if not limited amp modeler experience is that it will take more than just an hour to decide. The Helix is an amazing unit with many tonal caveats that seem to come out of nowhere as I keep learning and fiddling and A/B'ing between recordings, my amps, and the Helix blocks overall. The OP has done a great job of kick starting the "what is coming next" conversation. I would say that improved functionality is good, auto-volume would be GREAT, and maybe clarity for several items (reverb and delay blocks). But if Line 6 takes a collective look at this thread with the "what if" as well as the "yes we can" then good things will be coming our way. And I have a feeling when the next upgrade is "almost ready" DI may appear as if by magic to gently guide us. Dennis

When snapshots first arrived I was thinking presets are perfect and I would probably never use snapshots (DI may remember). Then I used snapshots for Purple Rain one night going from the ethereal rhythm to searing solo and back using the path A and Path B split block concept with one in and two seemingly separate out. I have found that I can setup snapshots for many things now. And I still have presets that only stay on the Snapshot one with 10 stomp mode. I don't do a lot of dancing on the Helix but when I need to I can. So it can become a matter of one's personal needs. And I have been enlighten to the world of mastering slit block percentage of "offset balance". But again this is a personal choice for me which fits my needs and playing style on demand. Nor is it used with every preset. Dennis

Line 6 did repair the Helix in about 7 days. 10 day turn-around. The screen is fine but I still have lockup on two patches so far. I have the ticvket open and have just sent off my patch to them to check to see if it is now a software bug as well. More to come Dennis

Amazing repair work. I sent my Helix to Line 6 So. Cal. on a RMA. They received it early on the 12th of August and I just got it back this morning around 9:30am Pacific. I then uploaded 25 IRs and 4 User setlists; not all the setlists are at 100% so maybe 120 presets all together. And I did install the setlists not the individual presets just for the heck of it. Then I overwrote several of the presets with other presets as a test. Before I sent it in I could recreate my issue repeatedly. After stress testing it and doing everything I could to recreate the issue there was not one hiccup other then the rebuilding presets the first time I restarted the unit after loading my presets. Other than that I have had several hours of trouble free performance. But there is more! The reverb and echo FX blocks I use are ... "WOW" ... crystal, more pronounced, and almost sound like higher then high fidelity components got installed. I am now toning down my reverb and echo FX blocks as well as reducing the gain to below 0.0 on my normal global EQ setting. Playing a Fair this Thursday. Can't wait Thank you to Line 6 repair Dennis

+1 gunpointmetal I had to go through a learning curve on this little beast. I run my patches a little hot through the headphones I have, open back 250 ohm, and did reading on the frequency response of the speakers I have in most all my rigs which are the 1970s EVM12L; that determined what hi/lo pass for me. I apply that to most all blocks that have a frequency adjustment; not just speakers. After that I set the global EQ to tone down the overall output presets I use and go direct letting the onstage mixer balance the fullback send (we each have individual monitor sends) and off stage mixer does the FOH. Wow, when I was working for the Jack Belmont Agency out of Seattle in the mid 1970's I had the opportunity to visit Chicago Music in Phoenix and was told about this little elongated narrow building in Tuscon. When we played at the Black Angus in Tuscon the following week I rolled over to the place and it was one very cool calm guy behind the counter. I was wide-eyed at some of the guitars since I had my '70 Paul and my '69 335 but always wanting a Strat. He said he was sorry but the three Strats I was looking at belongs to Frank Zappa and were in for repair. There are some memories I forget about until something triggers that dark corner of my brain. Stomp mode, BANK Up/Down, but also use the FS1+FS7 tap to get to snapshot mode as needed, and I use the FS1+FS7 hold method switch scroll from bank to preset to snapshot up & down on occasion. Dennis

For me it is the challenge of seeing how much I can learn in the Helix's use, how much I can create using either small single signal path tone creations, how full I can use the DSPs, and if I can recreate what I do consistently as opposed to "getting lucky" then forgetting how I got there. :wacko: Currently I have several single signal path creations with various snapshots based upon song structure within a single song. Then I also have a few guitar in with 2A & 2B to separate out puts using the switch to feature for a crystal clean tone on 2A while using crunch to brutal creamy tone on 2B . Again I use the 8 snapshots for various adjustments to see if I can use one preset for a whole set; not yet. :blink: Dennis

+1 HonestOpinion made me think back to getting "THE" tone out of my various amps over the years. I forgot that it took many months of tweaking, adding pedals, changing pedal locations, removing pedals, etc. And that is per amp which I have had many. That is the path to getting a setting or set of settings that eventually became something my ears like and apparently the people who heard me then and hear me now. Practicing 3 to 4 hours on the road daily also helped out over 18 years. POINT: I guess taking a few months to get something that matches my quest may not really that bad in the end-all. :lol: And having the ability to create signal paths using various amps, FXs, etc is a great plus. Alas, mine is doing the same and I am not connected to any computer. In addition, most of the time the LCD display goes black when this happens. I have a ticket with support. Dennis

There were several requests for more accuracy, precision, the ability to set harmonics, and better granularity. Ask and ye shall receive. Of course I am learning a new way of making sure my guitar is correctly in tune with this thing. LOL Dennis

I did the install last night. The process as advised by silverhead went very smooth (again I did disable my antivirus as I always do). I'll get a workout tonight during rehearsal. Dennis

Line 6 is looking into this issue. I have been tracking this issue since 1.7 and it still does this initially when I update. I have found I have to save after every change to be safe then use FS10+FS11 upon reboot. I know that this isn't a solution but that is how I address it for now. Before I knew 2.01 was out I was requested to revert to factory defaults then update the FW again. However, I used the 2.01 app & fw and reported the same issue in my current support ticket this time concerning three individual presets. I have reset the parameter settings and did the double save (tap save twice in a row) that is new to snapshots (or I never knew about it until then). After that the settings stayed and I have not used the FS10+FS11 trick yet. I'll report as I dig further. Dennis
