Make sure you power off and disconnect the Helix Control first. You should only download the Beta 1.11.1 application as the drivers and updater are all in that single download (I used Firefox to download due to some IE issues). After the rack is updated then you connect and power up the Helix Control which will automatically update. If you have done all of this then I would suggest posting every step one at a time for the knowledgeable people in this forum to better help out. Dennis

Updates: including more cool factor stuff? Thanks again DI Dennis

Wow, upside down text then disappears. I can only assume your using the latest application and firmware. So, +1 to klanmaler ... send in a ticket,

Great concept and explanation. I'm not so good with midi other than backing up my scenes on the M13 but now I am curious so ... after finalizing my Helix tone (yes it is a quest) this may be the next step for me. Thanks Dennis

So I thought I was having a brain drain. The tap tempo / tuner button is going slightly off kilter. The tap tempo works fine. But the tuner will not activate. I did a complete dusting out of the guts and prior to realizing what I was seeing I replaced the tap tempo / tuner footswitch/spring/plunger assembly (yes I has a few new parts from previous spare parts purchase for my other M13 I traded for a Helix). Then it struck me, hmm ... the tap tempo is working so maybe not the button - Duh! Well then I accidentally switch off one of my time based echos and the darn tuner works, Hmm, try it again and same thing ... tuner works. Switch to another scene ... no tuner love. Move expression pedals up and down and I get tuner love back but after a second attempt to get the tuner to respond I have to turn off my echos FX on that scene again. So, anyone else have this happen and found the real solution? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dennis

Question to all thus far, Is this only with a Mac or did this occur on a PC as well? Thanks, Dennis

As long as you choose the beta for the Helix application download on the Line 6 site ... Yes you will see the 1.11 beta app. Then the updater app, which is stalled during the install of the 1.11 beta app is what I used to update my firmware and it worked very well via my PC. Dennis

Are you using a PC? I have read and found that the latest version of IE in Windows 10 can create this issue. I use Firefox with no issues. Dennis

I have the good fortune to work with many bands and the one of the worship leaders at my church uses a click track for meter on all the songs he leads on. The track is given to the drummer and the kid is amazing with the way he can keep meter. Having said that I also have studied the use of the looper for the past four years and it is a beast in and of itself. There is a group call the Piano Guys that I have watched for some time and one of the music videos has the cellist using the looper quite successfully. Point is that I am still learning but it is kind of cool when you reach that "wow, so this is how it is done" moment. Don't give up and don't lose a lot of sleep over it. May be just a little sleep. ;) Dennis

+1 DarrellM5 - that is what I am talking about. Even with the Editor or the on the board adjustments the Pedal Edit mode lets me play and test at the same time. You just gotta love the Line 6 team for thinking of this ads well as DI for telling us. Dennis

As a user of the Floor Pod Plus, the HD500X, the M13, and the Helix, I say from my experience that the Helix is actually more rugged than any of the preceding Line 6 line that I have used. I do take very good care of my gear, but I have played places where even taking care of gear doesn't help with the inebriated people who seem to think it is OK to climb into the stage and incorporate their ideas into our sets. Hahaha And so far the Line 6 gear takes a licking and keeps on gigging!! Dennis PS: I have never used a bat on them though ... B)

This is the video that started my quest for the SG-1 by the way ...

"For the Frank in you" ;) ... I am working on using some of the blocks between amp & cab as opposed to before or after. Same with the gain stage of the pre-amp. After building some presets over the past month or so that I have had the Helix I went back to the drawing board and scraped my presets for a new way of thinking. That is when I discovered the "Pedal Edit" mode that allows me to test my ideas as well as hear what adjustments to any and all of the blocks as I play. I am finding this feature more useful than even the editor (no I did not blaspheme - I like the editor too just it has become my number 3 like) Dennis

Just added my first idea. I wasn't sure if it was already combined within another idea. I did a search but no luck, so ... BOSS SG-1 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Boss-Slow-Gear-SG-1/818934-23508

Has anyone been using Pedal Edit mode a lot? Seems to be the way to go for fine tuning while playing. Thanks to Digital Igloo for his pinned info. I just keep going back and re-reading then applying so I can retain. I am also finding that using the amps, preamps, and cabs seem to have me relying less on distortion and getting better sound by merely rolling the guitars vol & tone knobs while using pick attack for pushing the limit or sweetening the clean sound. Hmm, the more I learn the more I learn  Dennis

I did create a ticket on this issue. OS - Windows 8.1 Enterprise HP Laptop - Pavilion g7 App 1.11 [latest as of date this happened ... 4/23/2016] F/W 1.10.0 [latest as of date this happened ... 4/23/2016] I had setup a new setlist in the USER area I'll call setlist A. In one of the New Preset locations (02D) I imported Panama PV from the premade setlists. After a while I decided to import a virgin "New Preset" I had exported just for this purpose back into the location I imported Panama PV into (02D). Then I exported a patch (preset) from another setlist I had created in another user area (I'll call setlist B) keeping the file name the same as the preset [which is what it had defaulted to anyway] then imported it into 02D in setlist A. It gave me an error of "improper format". The preset name never came up in the Helix (the label said "New Preset*") even though the various blocks did import. In the editor it just kept saying something to the effects of “Importing …†and never finished I did this three times and I even turned off the power in between the attempts. Now I had done the complete reset via the buttons FS5 & FS6 while powering up when I had first updated the F/W using the 1.11 app then reload the setlist I had backed up from the previous version [app 1.08/ F/W 1.10.0]. So I went back and exported the same Patch from setlist B and named the file differently. I then imported the file into setlist A 02D and it worked. After this happened I did go ahead and power back up while holding down buttons FS10 & FS11 after this happened just to be safe but I had done that after I had upgraded as well as powering up holding the FS5 & FS6 buttons the first time like I mentioned. However, I have not attempted to repeat this following rebuilding the presets again. Dennis

Thanks klangmaler. I admire someone able to actually say EOL during early adoption . But I am really glad DI wears asbestos pants as the ideas are prioritized  . Now I am wondering what has made it into the greatest hits list from the ideas on IdeaScale. I joined IdeaScale and found so many ideas that had already been conceived I just started voting over the past two months. So maybe DI will check in with a "hold your horses Dennis, we're working on it and the next update should be out in a few months" ... or less. Dennis

The public beta of the editor, and the Helix itself, is working very well for me. Still, the Helix is rather easy, if not easier for me, to use manually to setup song lists but that is just personal taste. I was hoping for the editor to go from public beta to public full release soon and no longer be in the beta category at all. Also wondering about several of the effects that have been voted on (in particular the high count ones) to see if there are any upcoming release dates. The following is a list of ones that actually are feeling like a good fit for this Helix system; 1) Metronome 2) VU meters / or some sort of output metering of some type to gauge and match output signal going to FOH systems - I had been using my ears but the ability to use the EQs in the Helix seem to have me getting either ear fatigue sooner then normal or the bands are so saweet to use I am over using them. 3) Auto Vol /Swell type of thing 4) Finished Editor completely out of public beta 5) Auto Wah 6) Any current reported bug fixes. Anyway, like that sort of thing. Thanks for the response Dennis

Just to mix it up, any word on when the editor will be out of beta as well as firmware update with improvements & added FX and Amp models? It's gotten kind of quiet on that front and more chatter about the settings and styles. So I thought I'd see if there is any word from the staff or beta testers. Thanks in advance, Dennis

Tweaking the parameters helps. But I stay with tile, room, and '63 spring as my norms. And I am reading that Line 6 is working to improve everything on this unit based upon the human resource factor versus time. This is due to the fact they really do read the Ideascale submissions and compile the responses to proceed with the best ones based upon programming ability (hardware capability x programming reality). I can't imagine the meetings that go on trying to put all the identical ideas together then track if a user voted on several so they can parse out and identify the true individual single votes for the request. Dennis

+1 Silverhead!! I know from experience that Line 6 will respond with three days or less (my normal response time has been 2 days. Then, as you reply, they reply until the ticket is closed. Dennis

So, I thought a quick thank you to Line 6 engineers and staff may very well be in order. I have been reading about how fast everyone wants upgrades and such. I noticed the Editor came out and then about (less than) 60 days later there was an improvement. Mind you it is still beta, but I have yet to have any issues and I have noticed some subtleties (of course be careful of ear fatigue - it can be murder after an hour to think I "mistakenly had too much this or that" when my ear actually needed a break). Yes I want the M13 effects, and I want the Mark iic+, and the other stuff I know Line 6 is aware I voted on to date. But I am assuming they do not have the Microsoft employee base! So due to having to completely start from scratch for everything I have voted on from a coding perspective AND how much I am enjoying using the unit in live performances - WOW! Thank you Line 6. I have also been fiddling more and more only to find I can now remove blocks I thought I needed after much investigation into the parameters of each block, how to combine blocks [yes I even use three on a single button], and the great "learn" feature. And the various contributors to this forum as well as the (and/or their) youtube channels - thank you every so much as well!!! So, I am using it as my only pedal with a wireless unit (yes it is Line 6). So far, I haven't missed anything I cannot emulate or wait for. So ... yea ... Thank you Line 6. Just sayin' Dennis

Not sure if it addresses your issue or not ... I have had an audible hum (I agree with sound people that any audible hum is loud) for the past two shows with two different bands. Using the Helix ground lift last week went from bad to worse and this week no change. First show the fix was to run my power straight into the power conditioner the PA was plugged into (short run thank God). Today the fix was a Pyle PHE400 hum eliminator due to the inability to use the fix I used last week. Dennis
