So I may have been hasty in thinking the Helix needs a ton of more FX blocks (forgive me if I blaspheme oh Helix members). I just finished using several blocks during the creation of a test preset for another concept. In the process I have come seriously close to the AutoWah sound on "Whiskey In Mind" by Christian Kane that the guitarist uses. I used the Autofilter then adjusted the Q & Freq Cuts. Now I have to start putting in sleepless nights thinking of how to "find" other gems in this Helix device. Amazing B) Dennis

After reading this thread earlier today I quickly put together a preset. Of course I had to expand upon it so you can scratch quickly at this point . The TS 808 sounds good in my preset; I did add a few other blocks into the mix and made a full "Max the DSPs" preset. I am not sure what the version the OP is talking about but with a few tweaks I get a good tonal response and sustain plus clarity. Of course that is subjective based upon my ears. Dennis

Wait, they have a Line 6 Tattoo Choice Book? LOL B) Dennis

I have not tried using the device for 1/4 in to XLR out. I use it to forgo the Phantom Power issue at the mixing board. However, the reviews from users who do have that configuration and the answer to that very question, all lower in the link, all say YES. Dennis

I purchased this when I first got the Helix and even with Phantom Power ON there is no issue with noise using XLR out. I got this because several of the boards we have to use from time to time do not have individual channel Phantom Power capability. https://www.amazon.com/PYLE-PRO-PHE400-Eliminator-2-Channel-Outputs/dp/B00BARTW42 Dennis

+1 to zooey! I also read this when I first got my Helix. The video and pictures on the Tony McKenzie review is the best way to see what is what while safeguarding your unit. And he does an outstanding review. Great read! Dennis

If you use IE or Edge you will get the corruption error. I use Firefox in Windows 10 as well as 8.1 and do not get the download file corruption. New "safeguard" Microsoft added. So, that has been my experience as a solution. Also, not sure but I have been using the Line6 latest app (still having to check beta), not Line 6 Monkey, to download the updated F/W. The app installs all the correct drivers and then I use the Line 6 Updated to update the firmware. Dennis

Looks like we are not alone in the request. Interesting read ... https://reverb.com/news/pedals-in-need-of-a-reissue?_aid=newsletter&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=fef4b61a38-rn16_160626_content&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_5889ed6702-fef4b61a38-56114865 LOL Dennis

Peter, Thank you. As always this is very instructive AND extremely cool!! Dennis

Is this a setlist you created then created custom presets? I had a problem backing up then decided to use the FS10+FS11 rebuild current presets feature and everything worked fine. What I mean is that, with the USB cord disconnected, the application closed, and the board completely powered off; I hold FS10 + FS11 as I turn on the board until it says something to the effects of "will rebuild presets". I then release the footswitches and wait until it is done. As to why, I found that with F/W 1.12 there is a bug that seems to create a situation based upon DSP usage that can create this behavior in some patches, not all. Line 6 has assured me it is tied into something the next F/W upgrade will resolve. For me, my backups have backups  so I backup individual presets that I have created just because that is what I do. In the long run it is good for my versioning system I have as well. It has also saved me several times from the grief of recreating presets that complain about this "bad data type" when exporting setlists or bundles; since I am connected to the computer I export when finished with a preset as part of my process so it merely added 5 seconds to the creation process. ;) Dennis

I actually submitted this idea a while back. http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Boss-Slow-Gear-SG-1/818934-23508 If you get a good patch please let me know or vote up my idea or both. Dennis

I just go into FOH and let the sound engineer give my signal to me via the on stage monitors. I worked long and hard to get the Helix in a state where my sound board guitar channel eq is ran at 12 o'clock. For me it is just a matter of making sure my FOH mix is set to match the stage mix I receive. Talk about a small foot print to care on stage ... amazing. In addition, I have recently downloaded the IRs someone put up and am testing each one. Last night at rehearsal the other guitarist was blown away by how the Helix sounded "like a real amp". In fact he used his physical amp at rehearsal and my tones had more warmth. So, as a side bar, I will be sending the creator of the IRs from this forum some love $$$ soon. Dennis

Well, the delay could be me since I may have recently confirmed the root symptomatic cause of the amp controls deviating upon preset selection from one to the other. I'm confident that once the recent bugs are addressed the solution will be objectively tested in house before final release. This what I would prefer since releasing a clean upgrade would be a better solution then fast delivery and some bugs left unaddressed so to speak. On the other hand it would be nice to see it soon. Boy am I conflicted ... or is that schizophrenic?    Dennis

[LAST UPDATE] It is confirmed the next F/W release will address this bug. It is bundled into the "do not unplug the USB cable from the computer or Helix after you close out the editor" issue only with a few more variants. Dennis

Have you adjusted high and low cut on your blocks? I had issues with the sharp sound of my presets until it was pointed out to check the frequency range of the speakers I like the most with my real amps. I found that to be 80Hz to 5K (or even 5.5K)Hz so I started cutting the High and Low at that range and it worked out best. In some cases I even cut the highs to 4.5K-4.7K Hz Dennis PS: Here is the link to the thread I had asked a question about that led me to that thought http://line6.com/support/topic/20693-pick-noise-why/

Not sure if I am correctly understanding the question, however here is a thread with a link to a video that I found useful for using a self-assigned FS for switching paths back and forth http://line6.com/support/topic/20966-helix-patch-2-activation/ Dennis

[uPDATE] This is a known bug. It was said that making sure you wait for a few moments after closing the Helix Editor Application before unplugging the USB cable will solve it until the fix is perfected in the next F/W update. What I do is only use the editor to backup and copy presets to further expand on. All my work is on the Helix itself and very low chair with a very short strap on my instrument  However, I have found that if I use the FS10+FS11 when powering up "rebuild existing presets" feature it works fine until I modify, change, add, or remove any blocks or presets. I've shared my findings with CS and my findings have been constantly forwarded to QA over the past several days. Line 6 Support is very aware and very detailed so I try to be the same. I commend them for working with me as well as the other issues they are currently working on. I prefer to proceed with systematic fact finding so I can be something of an extension of support since at the end of the day that would be a great way to live in a great world. I strongly recommend using the support ticket link as well as this Bug Report thread in this forum. Dennis

Peter, Very nice. Thank you for putting this up to hear. Back to the lab for me ... "I was working in the lab late one night ..." when my ears beheld a beautiful tone ... Forgive me Boris. Dennis

Sounds like the same issue. Mine can be repeated once I discovered the patch I used right before I used the other patch when this happened. Once the two patches were identified I was able to repeat the issue 100% of the time. Learned not to use the patch that triggered this issue for awhile. I did upload both to support with my ticket. Of course I have since discovered a few other patches that trigger this with the offending patch. However, since I only recently sent in the ticket I am sure it may take a few or two for QA to get to it with the other work I am sure they already have on their fast filling plate. Dennis

Zooey, Thanks. I checked all the settings and then some. Same when first configured. Other patches with less DSP seem to be OK. Line 6 has sent the uploaded files and the notes to QA. They are looking into this behavior. All I can do now is await the findings. Dennis
-
I had another interesting thing happen yesterday. I used one of the patches experiencing this behavior. I just went to a different preset then back. Only this time the one giving me the issue saved itself. Strange. Dennis

FYI, all. I've submitted this to support as a possible bug just to be safe http://line6.com/support/topic/21025-volume-goes-to-zero-when-going-clean/ Dennis
