The Metal-i-Kid ... great to know I am not alone. I have been doing this for a few and find it a lot easier as long as the lead vocalist doesn't forget the list order. I have a FX ID next to the song which lets me reuse certain presets that multiple snapshots may allow for use in more than one song. And that way I can keep up with the vocalist's re-list from time to time. Of course I still have adjust my setlist FS per setlist from time to time. Just Plain Dennis

Datacammando, Now I have something else to add to my tool bag. Thanks. I did see the video when it came out but failed to realize the full impact of that one feature. Dennis

Station Alert! This may be my fault. Remember back in some distant post to how I was saying I always backup then reset to factory settings before upgrading then reset again after upgrading, restore from backup, then manually update my restored patches to the latest firmware version again so it can do it for me automatically upon the next reboot, and finally manually update just because; intentional long sentence to prove my neurosis. Maybe I passed my neurosis over to the engineers? Now, back to your regularly scheduled debate of speedos versus fig leaf!

You may want to consider this item; EM CUSTOM. Loopers, Midi controllers, interfaces ... Dennis PS: Read about this item and even reach out to the developers if you have any questions. The drop down before purchase tells which amp you want to use it for.

I had saved for a few months several years ago to purchase the HD500X. I had the FloorPod Plus and the band I am in wanted to give the sound person more control and less mis matched stage balance. So I go and purchase the HD500X about three weeks before the Helix come out. While I had no problem with HD500X I realized I should jump in and get the Helix since Guitar Center said they'd give me my full refund for purchase on the HD500X. I had made about 15 patches that I liked for the HD500X but I still returned it and purchased the Helix. At first I had some issues due to the overwhelming amount of ability the Helix has. I am very glad I made the switch. I mean, yes I like the color and the clarity of the visual display panel is clear the HX Edit program has been a boon for me It is much easier to create and then tweak the patches I make It is very intuitive of I have to make changes during practice or a show as I work directly with the sound engineers The updates are quite impressive whether slight bug fix or a complete additions of FX blocks The amazing helping hands I have received in this forum or on YouTube or even when running into someone else using the Helix is not only impressive, it is quite valuable to the added information I can glean as well as share I should say the number one thing is that the Line 6 support team is responsive and quite collaborative but that is regardless of the product you may own The way it works as a stand alone or with a valve amp or SS amp is quite useful though more and more with the F/W upgrades I am using is as my on stage rig. There is more I can say however most of the others have said it or touched upon it. In the end it is your choice though I can't think of a better choice to upgrade to. Dennis

Wait, what about 3.02 ... 3.09? oh no Mr Bill!

I am fairly certain he does. However, I was going to do the same thing so ... he beat me to it! ;-)

I didn't think about that ... thanks!

I thought I'd ask this question since I see many OP threads on issues and or questions concerning the Helix FX family that have been addressed in detail in existing threads with several nice solutions. When I did a search on "use search" I found a thread in which stevekc had directed someone to use search in 2015. I have used the feature improperly and properly in the past. I see that the Line 6 crew have added some suggestions on how to use it once you start to use the search feature itself. I find it useful if and when I figure out the phrase and or phrasing to use to get a result. Not sure if this is a great question to ask but I thought I'd put it our here that it works well for me and saves me time in waiting for replies concerning issues and or needs I have. Have others found the search feature helpful or a bother? Dennis

In regards to the initial question by the Guest OP. The polyphonic feature has already helped me dial in a clean and extremely satisfying polyphonic setting for three of my patches. I have found that the new FX models & features as they are added seem to let me become more curious in regards to the "what if?" code in my DNA. YMMV Dennis

Yep & Yep. Thanks

Jeff, please prepend this thread with [SOLVED] Thanks Dennis

And a big thank you to Line 6 for updating the Pilot's Guide for v3.00 as it is now locally on my computer after the HX Edit v3.00 install. Dennis

I am using a Windows 10 Enterprise OS system. After years of updating with out any failure this finally happened to me yesterday. I do not use usb hubs, I do have the connection on the usb port closest to the power supply, etc. However without any previous updating issues up to and including v 2.92, I have been using a usb extender cable for ease of access due to how my desk area is setup & the metal box is set in a desk cubby hole... yep. I am lazy that way. My solution was to remove all the remnants of the 2.92 install and the 1.92 & 1.93 drivers; then i installed HX Edit v3.00 fresh. Then I rebooted my machine and after the third time of following the instructions I am quoting from datacommando's post it worked perfectly using HX Edit itself. Looks like I am going to stop using the usb extension in the future. Of course once my re-fi closes on my current home and I purchase our retirement home in Tennessee I will be buying a new laptop as my old one of 12 years finally bit it; its true. Happy trails all. And hopefully this thread has now covered about every issue new (and some of us older) users have ran into. Dennis

OK, I am sure it can get better, however, I have gotten fairly close to Nirvana. For now I am merely talking about the Acoustic EQ, the 12 string, the Poly Capo, and the Das Benzin FX blocks. As Line 6 offered more and more FX blocks leading up to and including 2.92 I had been using a filter to drop my guitar tuning but it seemed a little distorted when punching triads if not full chords (kind of expected). Since I constantly use my guitars volume and tone pots during my playing as well I could control the beast to some extent. With the Poly Capo my ease of use for this drop tuning issue is greatly solved; I use a 1970 Gold top and 1983 Strat. As far as the attempt to get acoustic guitar or 12 string acoustic or mandolin or even Dobro out of my stock guitars I had similar challenges; slight distortion and the 12 string could not get a comfortable polyphonic sound even just using a diatonic style of playing. Creating the four aforementioned patches with the new Line 6 12 string, Poly Capo, and Acoustic EQ cleared up all my challenges. The polyphonic sound is extremely satisfying to my ears using the Line 6 FX blocks instead of the IRs I had been using. And yes there are more new features like the favorites and the ability to have custom settings on my go-to blocks as well (not at my home studio so I cannot remember the exact term but there you go). Now for the up and coming "when is the next firmware upgrade" posts and blah blah blah. Please don't flame me as I don't start those; anymore ;-). Now about that tuner ... I am joking!!!!!!!!! (Shutup Dennis) lol

Regardless of how you get there, the Benzin Amp is amazing. I upgraded to v3.00 yesterday late afternoon. After making some adjustments to my go-to setlist I thought I'd play around with my scratch-pad setlist I use for testing prior to moving to my go-to set list. All I can say is "WOW!" After setting up my template I use with the 2x12 interstate cab I added a tone sovereign & gate at the front then seasoned to my personal liking. So far I have two snapshots to go between the stock Benzin settings and the tone sovereign and gate. But it is amazing. Just Plain Dennis PS: Thought I'd attempt to bring this back to the Benzin even if it wasn't the OP's focus of "where is it".

Qwerty42, The path 2 output is what I have been monitoring and yep you are correct! Have you noticed any loss of volume in live settings when this happens? Or is it truly just cosmetic? Thanks Dennis

firehawkkwah, I know the challenge of "what gear next". This is more a "been there and am there again" for me as opposed to giving you my opinionated direction. So the answer to the age old question of "How many <fill in the blank> do I need ... 'Just one more'" I recently had a friend of mine who is rather noted in the West Coast instrument merchant arena send some guys to appraise and then purchase and then haul away much of my many years of gear collecting. The reason is - it helped me with new purchases in many arenas in addition to and other then just musical instruments ... hahahaha. I still have my ol' Goldie, Strat, & Martin. I have added the Limited Edition Helix to the family and I have now got GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) for a new Mesa; does it ever end? So I have decided to be patient, save, and try the gear to make my decision since in my case I use the Helix so much that I sometimes use an amp to make my fellow musicians feel happy; I have two in the band who feel stage sound is what they need to be inspired - go figure but their feelings are valid for them so I support that. If the "6 months no interest" leaders are available in about 4 months I may use that to defray more waiting if I am not at the level of savings I want. In the end only you can decide. However, getting a Helix was the best move I made many years ago. I really have no regrets selling my gear recently which included my older Helix since I did want to get the Limited Edition for my own reasons. Adding other gear such as guitars and/or amps will be easy since I have the Helix. And going to music stores or even the manufacturers that allow me to try gear helps. And even though I mitigate buyers and thus purchase decision remorse I am always thinking "what else might help?" But that is just my experience and thoughts. YMMV Dennis

David, I have been using the Helix for several years and every time a new firmware upgrade is pushed out I feel like a novice all over again. With the 2.92 firmware update I have found a few things that helped me. One of course required money even before the 2.92 which was the purchase of the Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro 250k headphones as I found anything below the 200k just didn't give me a realistic sound match to actually playing direct to PA with my patches. I don't know what the ohm rating is on your headphones but it could be in the 40k ohm that was a problem for me with other headphones. I don't have nor have I used a FRFR so I can not speak to that. Now to the free stuff. I always search for better ways to improve my sound since I have always lived by the mantra that "I know less today then I knew yesterday". I ran across a recent video by Jason Sadites and used it with the latest Helix floor I purchased. This was a changer for me and I have created his stock template to move forward. You said you have purchased his patches so you may have this already. I am adding one more video next and my final thoughts will be in closing after that. Next I have used the information from this video by Steve Sterlacci. I am taking the bits and pieces from these to create my new patches since our group is on hiatus until 1) we find anew drummer and 2) some gigs open up. I use my headphones while listening to the patches as well as, for now, Jason's Lonestar patch. I then add the EQ shelf in a recent video from Jason (append "watch?v=72DlinRw1pM" to a plain youtube link). The guitars will make a difference and the snapshot allows me to marry Steve's & Jason's concepts while using my ear for the sound I want. The Helix and the time I've taken to learn in this forum and the channels of the folks here have been rewarding; up until a few years ago I was the "elitist tube sniffer" - boy was I wrong. Anyway, good luck and you never stop learning and/or creating when it comes to music. In closing I have watched and learned from many more here in the line 6 helix forum and the youtube channels they have. David, welcome to an amazing family. Take your time, ask more questions, and enjoy the ride! Dennis

datacommando, It does seem to be similar if not the same. I didn't search for lag or lagging though I did see "It's not the tunah ..." and breezed by it thinking it was another tuner accuracy issue thread. My bad (and we all know about assumptions) ! Hopefully DI and the Y/L gang are now aware and it will be addressed. While it is a cosmetic issue for me so far I have not had any sound lagging over this but I have yet to use it live. Thanks again Dennis

I searched for my issue before starting this and may have missed it if it is on our forum. Forgive me if I did miss it somewhere else. I have just received a Limited Edition Helix. It was already at 2.92. I have decided to create new presets from scratch after lessons learned from the past several years with my older Helix. I am only using my headphones for now which are beyerdynamic DT 990 pro 250k. I have only been using HX Edit to create the patches. I have double checked f/w and HX Edit for matching versions. I have been creating the patches over the past two weeks and then removing blocks, adding blocks, and moving blocks. I set the focus on the last output block to view the meters for matching levels. Somewhere between 20 minutes and 45 minutes or so I perceive an odd occurrence. The meters no longer match what I hear through the headphones. I'll strum a chord or play a note. I hear the response of my playing. However, the meters are not showing any activity at first. Then after a second or so they move though it is after I have played the note(s) and I have yet to play any further note(s). If I turn off the Helix then turn it back on all is good. Has anyone experienced this, or is it in the release notes & I missed it, is it already reported as a bug, or ...? Thanks for any guidance. Dennis

In an alternate universe DI has created the ultimate low cost wireless in a Helix design with "modeled wireless" units for different sounds. From first Sampson wireless with the slight breakup ability to the 2078 Line 6 creative cloud wireless and beyond. Man I just killed the wireless dream - please don't flame me. Now on a more serious note I was offered a substantial amount of capital for almost all my gear. So I just received the Limited Edition Helix in Space Gray and must say it feels like Helix II in that the darn thing is clearer and boots extremely fast. I did have an early release of the Helix that was part of the gear I parted with so maybe DI can weigh in and let me know if the LE Helix is slightly different under the hood. Seriously the thing just smokes. ... But not to totality steal the thread ... I would like to see the top grade modeler be just that - a top grade Helix II and it's own piece of the musicians every greater dream of finding "that tone". Yet as I type this I really can't find anytime wrong with what Line 6 has accomplished with the Helix. Maybe more CPU and a slightly longer path chain with 14 buttons ... that's my dream and I'm sticking to it. Dennis
