  1. Once I installed the new 2.0 firmware...I threw away ALL of my old patches. They were useless now because they were full of footswitch assignments. I now use ONE preset that I made with 7 snapshots. It seriously took me no time at all to build it with the new modded 2204 amp. Just that and the Matchless (for clean) And the new Vintage Digital Delay is the ONLY delay I'm using now. Trust me...do the update before you play another gig. It takes the Helix to a whole new level. Completely different beast now.
  2. Cool...they'll get it fixed soon. :)
  3. I'm just gonna not use a wah until the Line 6 folks fix this little bug. :)
  4. I made sure I have it bypassed in all the snapshots when I saved the preset. And I haven't done anything to cause it to switch between EXP1 and EXP2 in the wrong order. Is there some kind of setting I'm missing that is different? I've never had this happen before, but I'm running everything differently now with snapshots (and it's much better...except for this one little problem)
  5. That 2204 and the Matchless Channel 1 are the only two amp models I am now using. :) Covering everything from clean to funk with Matchless. And crunch to lead with the 2204
  6. I don't use a volume pedal at all. Just a wah. So that can't be my issue. It's strange....when I go to a snapshot where the wah is NOT working correctly....I can see the parameter of the wah pedal moving when the wah is NOT turned on. But once I engage it...the parameter stays stuck at "100"
  7. So I've got 7 snapshots I'm using on a preset. Problem: The wah isn't playing well with my setup. I put a wah near the beginning of the chain. I go to a snapshot and I turn the wah on and use it...no problem. I turn it back off. Later I go to another snapshot. I turn the wah on...but it's "stuck" in position. The pedal isn't "opening and closing". It's just stuck in whatever the last position it was in before (which is "100" because I have to use that damn toe pedal...lol) What is the solution for this? At the moment, I've simply removed the wah completely from the preset. But I'd like to be able to use it if I can.
  8. First thing I did when I updated to 2.0 was create a Mesa MkIV lead patch. Sounded great! But then I set up a snapshot using this mod 2204 and A/B'ed them side by side. For my ears...this modded Marshall sounded a bit better to me. I now use it for both my crunch and lead sounds (drive turned back and a little different EQ for crunch). LOVE it! EDIT: By the way...this week I've been using my Ibanez RG2020 and it just sounds so full and nice! I long ago replaced the stock pickups with Duncan JB's Nice, fat, and warm. And of course the super fast Ibanez necks are legendary. Next week I'll probably switch over to my Jeff Beck Custom Shop strat. I go through phases....lol
  9. Before you do anything you need to update to the newest firmware. It changes everything for building patches and gives you some new amps that you don't have yet. You need to be on version 2.0 :)
  10. Threw away all my old patches. They were pretty much useless now with the new amps...plus they extensively used footswitch assignments. Built ONE preset. It replaced all my old ones for live use!!! Using all 4 snapshots I now have four completely different sounds (crunch, lead, clean, and a clean "lead" boost) all in the same preset. This is so easy to use now that I was able to do all of that from scratch in about 40 minutes total time (including tweaking and playing). I'm REALLY loving my Helix now! Got mine last October. And this update makes it a completely new piece of gear.
  11. I know everyone has their differing "ears" and preferences in tone. And I really like the lead tone on the new Mesa MK IV model lead channel. :) BUT...having said that: I set up my lead sound on two different snapshots. I used the MKIV model on one and then on the other I used the brand new Line 6 creation of a modded Marshall (JCM 800). All I can say is: WOW! That new Line 6 created modded amp sounded a bit thicker and fuller without any fizz at all to my ears. I really thought I'd be all over the new Mesa MKIV model...but this new modded Marshall that they cooked up edged past it for my ears! If you haven't given it a try yet...be sure to! And I was able to really get that "brown" sound out of it on "Page 2" with the trick "mid" control.
  12. The 2.0 firmware update made that tuner into a whole new monster. :)
  13. That new modded Marshall is great.
  14. Got it! I had to do the "Safe Mode" which is actually "Update Mode". Turn it off, turn it back on while holding down buttons 6 and 12 (the last buttons on the top and bottom rows). That took me into "Update Mode" WITHOUT the little :0 in the upper left corner. Then I updated and BOOM! It worked. Hope that helps somebody else.
  15. Mine is telling me "Boot failure.Entered Update Mode" and there is a :0 in the upper left corner of the screen. And the Line 6 Updater will only function in "Offline Mode" I downloaded the flash firmware and re-installed it. But it still comes up in the "Boot failure. Entered Update Mode" and there seems to be nothing I can do. :( HELP! I have a gig!
  16. Looking forward to updating today and giving it a whirl! And DAMN IT!!! I spent the last couple of weeks completely overhauling my entire guitar sound and I had achieved what I believe was the best sound I've ever had...and now they release the Mk IV!!!! Time to start re-tweaking. lol
  17. One thing is for sure...from a guitarists point of view having delay trails go from patch to patch is a really big deal. Sure we've all figured out ways to do it by compromising and that works out fine. But it sure does seem to be one of those things that should have been real high up on the priority list of "must do" way back in the design stage. And can someone tell me what a "Scene" is? I've never had a fractal unit to play with. How is it different than when I simply set up two different amps and then assign one footswitch to change amps AND effects with one click?
  18. You have to admit though...to us guys playing guitar, it seems very odd that my old Boss GT5 could do it ("it" being delay trails between presets) with no problem. :( Seems like one of those kinds of things that would be at the very top of any effects processing unit for a guitarist. And yeah, I was able to "solve" it by having a "rhythm" and "lead" sound on the same preset for all my tones. But it's still a head-scratcher that older less powerful boxes can do it and the newer boxes with so much more processing power can't...at least to all of us guys who are just musicians and not computer wizards. :)
  19. Enough excuses! Where is the "Peavey Bandit" amp in this damn thing??? :(
  20. That's been a problem since day one with it. As I understand it, Line 6 is looking to correct that problem in a future firmware update...so hang in there.
  21. I don't think there are any differences. Here at home on my nice level firm floor with a low-cut carpet, it's not too bad. Put me on a stage at a club with a rickety floor that gives in certain spots and I'm trying to sing into a microphone and get that last phrase in as I'm simultaneously hitting the "lead" switch and then going over to the "wah" pedal to try and engage that toe-switch while still making eye contact with the audience...THAT is a different ballgame. I'm with the people who loved using wah pedals that auto-on when you simply push the pedal down. It's hard enough singing, entertaining, jumping around, playing, and dancing on footswitches without the added toe-switch that may or may not come on when you're on an uneven surface of a rickety club stage. :)
  22. I can read between the lines...what DI is actually saying is: "The next update will be out any day now and will have all 3 channels of the Bogner Ecstasy PERFECTLY modeled" You guys need to learn how to translate what Mr. Igloo says.
  23. Hey DI...I live in Vegas. Why don't you take the weekend off and drive over and let's drink! You need some time away from all of this. :)
  24. Hopefully that will be changed. I am always one or two footswitch assignments away from getting mine just right for lead changes. It does get kinda frustrating.
