  1. :) Anytime, it's what I'm here for.
  2. Yes, EH premium tubes go thru another set of tests for us. The Chinese 12AX7's are used in Spider Valve, though one can also EH low microphonics. Even the Spider Valve, can't use a 6L6 because the characteristic curve isn't close enough to a 5881. Bogner chose the 5881 because it was easy to design with, perform they way he wanted, easy to get at good price. DT series is a bit more of a different side of Valve amps. DT series amps are also more particular and finicky, because there are four topologies, and so four gain loops, as well as the amp class switch. Closing the gap,... Roland Orzabal (Tears For Fears) and Steve Howe (Yes, Asia, GTR) must think so, as the both have two DT50-212's. Had the honor and pleasure of servicing all four amps.
  3. leperclown,... It has to do with the modeling and how it is treated by the tube section, and how the tube section talks back to the processor board, as well as biasing correctly. Also using the correct soft/medium/ hard is also essential. Because of modeling and the need to stay within performance parameters, specified brand and type are necessary. These amps are very unforgiving of deviation and modifications. Seen too many of these come across my bench because of that,... blown amp and processor boards, red plated tubes, fuses and the like. Not a pleasant sight. Not hokum, just they way it was designed. If it were all analog, it would be different, like swapping out tubes in Marshall's and Ampeg's, like we used to do in the 1970's. Since the 70's, I guess I really am an old guy. These are a different animal, got to cuddle them under the chin a little different.
  4. If it's blowing fuses, then it needs to be serviced by a Line 6 authorized service center. In the UK, that would be E&M Electronics in Milton Keynes. When were the tubes last changed out?
  5. neilwebb,... Register the guitar and then log a support ticket in your account. When you log the ticket, include photo of the front showing the bridge and pick-guard area. How is the tremolo working?
  6. neilwebb,... if I recall, most interfaces use TRS jacks that can accommodate TR plugs. But you may want to double check with Focusrite about that. Since coming here to Line 6 (almost 14 years ago), I haven't been in many Focusrite products in a while (mostly the Red series of products). Guitar to pedal to amp connection flow is fine. Thanks hurghanico for your input too.
  7. Just be aware that DT Edit is a 3rd party item and not a Line 6 supported app. So if there is a problem, you will need to contact their support.
  8. For the Standard, the differences would be Rosewood or Ebony fret board, or Maple fret board. The necks are not interchangeable between product lines (Standard, JTV-69, JTV-89 and such) as the mounting screw holes line-up differently.
  9. Yes, as Variax is an active circuit guitar. Tip = signal Ring = +Vdc Sleeve = ground/return It's a connection convention that's been around for active circuit guitars, since at least 1970's, and is still the case. Use TRS connectors with Variax guitars.
  10. Yes, it will be on the Downloads page on the Line 6 website. https://line6.com/software/
  11. I think the PM box for is turned off, accept for internal Line 6 use with other techs. Can you access your Line 6 account, register your gear, then log a Support ticket?
  12. Check the Edit page to see that the Variax input is enabled.
  13. 800000900 "C" or "A", would be a MIDI time out error,... most common. It's finicky about how you hook it up. Make certain you are using the correct cables and interface device, and no USB hubs connected (a common oversight).
  14. https://line6.com/software/index.html Should be compatible with High Sierra. Make certain you are using the correct interface device that came with the guitar, direct to the computer, and that USB hubs are disconnect during the update. If you still have a problem, log a Support ticket.
  15. 1) Topology is a mix of circuit loop gains that are cut-in for the different switch settings, and subtle aspects of the firmware mixed in. 2) There may be something out there, but I haven't seen one.
  16. 1) Use the specified tubes (valves), using the specified bias,... 2) There are a couple of items on the processor and amp board that can affect volume that way. The authorized Line 6 service center can reach out to me through our service center channel for that. 3) If the previous owner didn't use specified tubes, it can have a bad affect on the unit over time. 4) It can be the guitar input amp board. Also something for the service center to deal with. Do not attempt self repair on these, the shock hazard is too great. Leave it to the Line 6 authorized service in your area.
  17. Right. That's what I get for wearing spectacles.
  18. They are different bridges, and not interchangeable.
  19. Do not mix and match between the DT50 and DT25.
