  1. If it's not shielded at the connector, then chances are it is tied at the cable to the Canon casing, and that would set up a chassis ground. That would be a typical AES standard for such a cable.
  2. Binding,... that could be, if one side is much higher than the other. Solved it,... very good.
  3. Te cable that came with the Variax is for connecting to Monkey and Workbench HD. The VDI cable is for playing thru. Check the input selector page on your Helix to be certain the VDI input is active.
  4. ".... more than likely be, either an intermittent solder point or a failing pick-up. " --- for a 69, yes, but for a 59, it's a different assembly that can generate different issues. But good call on the 69. And always drip it in with a cotton swab.
  5. BTW, I'm the guy at Line 6 that services and repairs the current line of Variax guitars.
  6. Something else in the set-up is going on there, maybe relief. Using 10-46 gauge string sets? Contact Mark Wright about it, he'll know how to deal with it. And he can pick my brain, as we stay in touch, us being long time mates and all.
  7. Tarnslation,... Hello, i am looking for a lightning cable that connects my iphone X to my sonic port. I currently have the 30 pin. Can you help me? Thanks in advance.
  8. Lives on, yes. I've been seeing to it. As for the latest Apple OS compatibility, I don't have any say in that.
  9. Never tried it, but if you use Workbench HD, save the desired tone to a folder on your computer, then load it to your JTV-69 as a custom patch, then that might worth. Be aware that it will sound different in a different body, so you may want to do further edits on the tone using Workbench HD, after it's in the JTV-69. The 69 has a floating bridge for tremolo, the Shuriken does not, and that will also add to the difference. Model programs are modeled and optimized for the guitars they are specified for. For instance, a JTV-89 program sounds odd and off tone color in a JTV-89F, because the 89F is programmed for a tremolo bridge, and the 89 fixed bridge is not. Trying to do tremolo using a Model from a fixed bridge guitar, may sound a little odd. Also, there are two version of the Shuriken, 27" baritone scale and 25.5" standard scale. That will also add to the difference. Using Workbench HD to edit the Shuriken models in a JTV-69 may work, the question is, will it work enough for what you are looking for? Bonne chasse et bonne chance.
  10. Fairleas,... Contact cleaner won't do anything except gunk things up, but if you must, use a cotton swab and drip it in. It will more than likely be, either an intermittent solder point or a failing pick-up. Either way, do not attempt this yourself, this is not a self repair, and Line 6 does not support self repair. Unless you have a lot of electronics experience, a good solder station (not solder gun), and an anti-static mat set-up. Log a support ticket in your account. E&M Electronics in Milton Keynes, near Bletchley, is an authorized service center. Check with them about servicing your guitar. Another option is Mark Wright Music in Northampton. Mark was my opposite number at Line 6 Rugby, when we had a location there. He knows these guitars really well and still services Line 6 gear.
  11. oldmanrockband,... Don't do that, don't do any mod's, that would be an unsupported mod. The longer version coarse adjust screws allow more leeway for adjusting the bridge so that finer adjustments can be made at the piezo level. Log support ticket in your account, they can refer you to an authorized service center for guitar work. Yorkville in Pickering has a guy there that trained with us here. And they have access to me through service center channels for further consulting if they want.
  12. Sounds like it's connected corrected then. That means I should look it over and see what's what, and where the glitch is. If Support doesn't catch your ticket before end of business today, then they should catch it on Monday.
  13. The neck and piezo issue is something I should deal with. If sending it back to me, I will also need the full accessories pack to evaluate as well. Should still be under warranty, scan and upload your receipts when Support asks you to.
  14. Disconnect any USB hubs when dealing with Monkey an Workbench HD. It's not seeing the interface device,... either there's a USB hub connected, or a problem with the Variax interface. It's in that part of the signal chain.
  15. So far, it sounds like you've done all the correct things. It's time to log a Support Ticket in your account. It may need to come back to me for a look-see.
  16. More time passes more bugs gone, less for sustaining to do, it still gets reviewed. Updates and features,... Idea Scale for requests for updates is the place to go. Some of our product and updates were created because of that. So it still continues. CoVid, trade politics ans such have slowed things down a bit, but assumptions and rumors of a product lifespan without official word, is like chasing the rainbow of vaporware, or chasing unicorns that really aren't there. Wait for official word, then we can all have a good rant over it.
  17. oldmanrockband,... The solution is the two bridge coarse adjust screws, there is a slightly longer version by 1.5mm of those. I don't have any myself. Check with Full Compass, Long & McQuade or Yorkville to see if they have any or can order a pair for you. crusinon2 has a good point, so good to check that. Depress the highest fret on the lo-E string, the pick-up to string distance should be 3mm. Do the same on the hi-E side, distance between pick-up and string should be 2mm.
  18. Brue58ski,... Unfortunately, I'm not privy to what goes on at that level. They don't bring me into the loop until something breaks and they need me to fix it. crusinon2,... last update was for a glitch I found with the way Shurikens were interfacing and displaying in Workbench HD, hence the v2.23 Flash update, circa 2018. So that is solid now. Sharp eyes guys.
  19. And three different lengths to conform the the contours on the back. Check with my mate Mark Wright at Mark Wright Music in Northampton, he may be able to get some or point you to where you can. https://www.facebook.com/MarkWrightMusicdotcom +44 7738 054642 his mobile.
  20. crusinon2,... " It's highly unlikely that the next one will have backwards compatible guts to drop into existing guitars " --- No more so drop-in than existing JTV, Standard or Shuirken. And no more so than the original Variax. " They want to sell you a new product, not update an old one. " --- All tech companies are like that. Variax firmware gets updates when there's a need, and a software engineer available to do the job (at least from where I sit and can see). Regarding set-ups,... had too many people in the past say they knew what they were doing, only to have it end up on my bench two weeks later, neck relief or action that has more in common with a violin than with a guitar, or zero set on a tremolo that's way-off. But there are those out there who are capable. Things like action or pick-up heights and such. I drop a setting or two on the Facebook Variax page now and then, along with do's and don't-s to go with it. " I seriously doubt they're gonna want anybody trying to retrofit an old instrument with a new brain. They'd be drowning in repairs from butchered DIY attempts. " --- For a time, I was, until people starting taking my advice. Having done my share of custom work on a number of these for Artist endorsers, and working on guitars for about 50 years now, I know the pitfalls. But then, crusinon2, you also know my history here, and are one of the sharper ones in this group. Brue58ski,... "... provide the guts then go to my other idea which was the isolated outputs of the 6 strings. I'm guessing with the VDI you can get the six signals out out of the Variax into a black box. " --- Someone company already tried that, and wanted us to give material support. Too many complications with them, a company with unknown history. And all the service and repair would fall upon me. Not that I wouldn't mind, but I already have my hands full with what there is. For now, the current Variax is still out there and being bought and used, so will continue go on for some time. And I'll be here to keep them going, doing their check-ups and adjustments. Enjoy, and keep on ROCKIN'!!!
  21. Register your JTV-59 in your Line 6 account, so I can lookup serial number and service information.
  22. Use only the specified Line 6 battery and charger. Do not use any other brand or type of battery, or battery charger.
  23. That 2nd input is for Aux-In and is instrument level. If the FX send is instrument level, should be okay. Do not use the tube amp speaker out, that will blow something. Keep an eye on the signal levels between them.
