Are you trying to control the LEVEL of Delay and Reverb with the EXP pedals? If so, I do exactly that with no input levels or added volume blocks. Just assign the EXP to the MIX parameter on the delay or reverb in question then set the MIN/MAX levels accordingly.

IMO... your HS7 Studio Monitors in a 12x12 room is about as perfect a fit you will find. My studio room is about the same size, and I run the same size studio monitors. It's perfect for my needs. Live gigs or a practice room is a different story... given your options I would lean toward 2 x 112 Powercab+. Lighter to move around Better options for coverage and stereo spread They serve as a backup to each other.

Preset names renamed themselves and are now corrupt.

You could try a full factory reset, then either restore a backup or import your setlist again. These are your options.... 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode -
It took me a moment to wrap my head around what you were suggesting.... When the light bulb came on, I upvoted it :)

Great idea but I see three problems. The UAD Satellite costs more than an HX Stomp, and still doesn't have all the features you want it to have. How do you expect Line 6 to pull it off at a price point that would make more sense than just adding a 2nd Stomp or HX Effects? The UAD Satellite is Thunderbolt... which is much quicker than USB2 In regards to USB, are you familiar with HOSTS vs DEVICES? Hosts talk to devices Devices can answer back to a host A device cannot talk to another device, unless it is facilitated by a HOST playing the middle man, and often with added software. My point? The Helix/Stomp is a device.... it cannot HOST anything on it's own, not even a memory stick!

Yes, you are correct... they were release prior to the XT and subsequent X3. The HD Series and M Series had the "Heavy Distortion" model with NO MID Freq Control. The "Killer Z" never made it to that series. IMO, it wouldn't be the first effect in the HD series that actually took a step back from the X3 :)
-
The HM-2 is the Boss Heavy Metal distortion... The Metal Zone is a Boss MT-2... Similar category, but very different distortions... For reference, tone controls on a real Metal Zone are "after" the gain stage so after the Metal Zone would be the more accurate placement. That said, I agree with you. Try it in both places and pick the position you like more. I am pretty sure the legacy effects are the HD Series (M Series).... while the Stompbox modelers would have been from the XT/X3 era... but with limited controls.

If you have a blank setlist on your Helix or if you are ok with overwriting Factory 1 then there is nothing to lose. I certainly never took it as such, and I hope my answer didn't cause you to believe I did.

I prefer to call them "simple oversights" rather than "really stupid" - LOL! I was foiled by the MONO/STEREO option once before... it drove me nuts trying to figure out what was different because it isn't obvious at a glance.
-
I'm all in with snapshots so I doubt I will ever use this feature... but it's a great option for those that are entrenched in, or just really prefer the "preset" method of getting around.
-
The Flange is stereo...... that's the difference! Stereo effects take a huge amount of resources.. Change it to mono or remove it and you gain access to ALL amps!
-
I wonder where my post went... I don't see it! Are you 100% certain you are comparing apples to apples. The new preset contains the STEREO version of the Gray Flanger. Indeed, it eats enough DSP that your options become limited. If you simply change that to the MONO version of the Gray Flanger all of the amps become available! (just verified this on my Helix) So.... When you say you tried the Gray Flanger in the OLD preset, did you insert the MONO or STEREO version? If you inserted the MONO Version, that's your difference!

How good are they? I would say they are great when the artist that created them are actually using them. They sound like every other preset in the world when I plug into them. In fairness I don't expect any preset to suit what I do. I loaded them up just to see what was there but I wasn't surprised when none of them did anything for me. There might be a trick or two I will learn from some - but that's about it.

All V3 setlists are available here.... There is only 1 for the Stomp, not 2. https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/helix-30-factory-setlists-r964/

My money says you missed a step :) When you do the Hardware update through HX Edit, ONLY THE HARDWARE gets updated! Not HX Edit itself! The new version of HX Edit needs to be downloaded from Line 6 and installed separately.

Here is a link to all the factory reset options.... the 2nd bullet point is the presets and setlists but you might want to review the others as well. https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/helixrackltfxstomp-reset-procedures-and-troubleshooting-tricks-r768/ Before doing this, if you have presets of your own SAVE THEM NOW! You will lose them for good if you don't!

Look at the location numbers.... What you see in the doc (notes) is who made it! What you get on the device is the actual name of the preset EG: The notes say... 15A, 15B—Richie Castellano The Device and HX Edit will read... 15A: FAUX 7 STG CHUG 15B: RICHEESE Sometimes the name (such as 15B) will suggest the artist name, sometimes they don't! If you see 15A and 15B as I have shown here, then you have the presets loaded!

It takes a little pre-planning, but you can have 4 parallel paths on the Helix or Native... Set input to guitar for both Path 1 and Path 2 Set output to mains for both Path 1 and path 2 Path 1A and Path 2A should start with your primary tone (eg: amp/cab and any effects). Yes - it needs to be duplicated! NOTE: You can create a more complicated primary tone... but it will leave you with less blocks available in both 1A and 2A. Immediately following the AMP (or primary tone) on each path, create a "Split Y" All four paths will be in parallel... and can contain multiple effects (series) on each path. The LT is restricted by the DSP power as to how much you can accomplish.... Native can have compatibility mode turned off... in theory up to 32 blocks can be used! I'm attaching a screenshot from Native to show you the idea.... using nothing but an Amp/Cab and some modulations.
-
If you don't have real world experience with the "amps/cabs/mics" it can be an overwhelming experience to say the least. If you don't know what the differences are, they will all just sound like amps. They do have distinct differences, but if you don't know what your are listening for you won't notice. This is normal! You can learn a lot by researching what is used by your favorite artists/players. You start to connect the dots and realize you need to lean certain directions for certain sounds. Those are broad terms.... can you name any artists/songs you might want to get a tone for?
-
I loathe presets.... but with this update I read about some artists contributions and decided to give a few a try. Nope... I still loathe presets! I have no doubt that those players get great tones with what they have created.... but not with my hands & guitars.
-
I agree.... the X100 had the input attenuator on the back... and you could cut or boost accordingly. I used to boost that quite a bit to simulate what you are describing. The X100 also had built in compression which simulated a "studio compressor" not a "stomp box". When it was pushed hard it really produced a sweet tone/feel!
-
Well, well, it appears there was! My original files had a distinct artifact at the end of the CLN2 file (the file used for comparison)... this must have disrupted the IR making processes. I just finished rebuilding all of the IR's.... the other 3 ended up the same, but CNL2 certainly increased in volume, and clarity. NOTE: It still isn't as loud as CLN1, but it is much closer. In my opening post I uploaded a new ZIP file that contains the new version of CLN2... (the original CLN2 is also included for reference with a new name)
-
Although many effects do have the mix/blend control, you are right... many still don't. A mix/blend control is parallel processing built into every effect that has it.... extremely powerful without the need of using precious space on the parallel path. Upvoted!

CLN2 on the Rockman was a direct signal, not an amp/cab like the other 3. The video posted by "sweetpete" earlier shows this tone (with the chorus engaged) beginning around 7:20. When he moves to CLN1 at about 10:30 on the video... the sound is much thicker, but his volume is not changing much. CLN2 is much thinner, but not much quieter. I'll look at my capture files again and see if something went wrong in IR process. Worse case scenario, I'll find the old Rockman and try again. BTW.... thank you for trying!

On the page you link to... scroll down toward the bottom. That is where many of the presets are sold individually, and there is a video link in each of those with samples. and/or Visit his YouTube channel and zero in on the Line 6 playlist that interests you most. https://www.youtube.com/c/GlennDeLauneOfficial/
