  1. Yeah that makes sense , the fx loop can move anywhere between wah (early in the chain) and reverb (late in the chain) So if you put your physical compressor pedal in the fx loop you can have it wherever you prefer , either before the amp or after it Another thought is if the tube screamer and compressor are effects that you have on most patches why not have both physical pedals in the fx loop and that leaves you 3 flex blocks still to use for extra distortions or delays etc I say this because I use compressor and tubescreamer on every patch just to warm up the tone a bit
  2. Stomps (drive, compressors) normally go before the amp Time based effects (delay, chorus etc) normally go after the amp As you have discovered you can experiment with moving stuff around and sometimes it can sound better and sometimes worse
  3. Sounds like a duff ipad, the screen doesn't time out and go dark which is why it uses the battery more, if you turn your screen brightness down it should last longer but it's certainly not the firehawk causing the problem
  4. What's the beef with the 1500? I think it's a good thing that companies are always pushing to make something better or more accessible I knew the amplifi needed a floor controller and at release you couldn't record through the USB so I didn't buy one , just a quick look at the website told me everything I needed to know, it's not like they falsely advertised it or anything
  5. It's worth bearing in mind if what you're trying to achieve is really necessary, are you going to use the distortion and overdrive at the same time? Or 3 delays at once ? Stuff like that would be totally lost in the mix live, but yeah it's fun to noodle stuff like that Also there is an fx loop so if you still have your tubescreamer you could put that in the loop instead of using the modelled version I had the hd500 and didn't get along with it all that well but many people love it, I'd say it's widely agreed that it's easier and quicker to get a good tone on the firehawk but the hd500 is much more flexible There is also a cheat patch on the cloud that has 4 flex blocks instead of 3 , just do a tone search for "BJ Clean" you do lose the fx loop though
  6. Correct you have 3 flex blocks to use to your liking , 3 delays if you want or 2 stomps and 1 delay but once you have used up 3 that's it. There is an on board compressor which is always in the chain so maybe that could take the place of your dyna comp?
  7. Or is 1b really necessary? Could you maybe just turn off the chorus of 1a
  8. Yeah it's totally redundant to have both , that's exactly what you'd have if it did work as a floor controller, you'd have a pretty expensive piece of gear sitting on the floor to just change patches That's why I said the workaround is just to trade in the older firehawk if you want the new one with the amp I'd definitely be interested in hearing how the stereo separation works on stage But my biggest gripe with modellers is having to create the same patch twice , one for live use and one for recording direct, they never sound the same and always require tweaking and I don't see this changing anything I mean it might sound awesome on stage but if you take your feed to the pa from the xlr left and right it will probably sound totally different to the amp on stage due to the different speaker configuration
  9. Well since the lag got reduced patch changing is a bit too easy lol
  10. You can also try setting the cab in firehawk to "no cab" if you are using the blackstars speaker as you ideally only want one guitar cab in the signal chain
  11. The firehawk won't be able to switch tunings for you or the tone knob position but it will switch the models as far as I know
  12. He already has a firehawk so the money has already been spent If your using 4cm then surely you must be using your fenders preamp too , so your not using it as just a power amp
  13. They're magnetic ! You can move them around
  14. I also wish you could increase the time , I usually end up doing the process twice as I don't confirm the change within 5 seconds , it's quite hard when your committed to rocking out with one foot up the fold back Quite an easy work around though is to have a bank dedicated to each song you play although you will undoubtedly have some banks that share patches it only takes about 15 minutes to drop the patches in place with the app
  15. Do you think it would be possible to cut some handles in? I suppose there's no way of telling how close the stuff is inside the cab without taking it apart?
  16. I thought they weren't available until may?
  17. I'm getting some serious deja vu today , think I'm going to stop eating those peanuts
  18. Before you change the pickups have you set the variax up in workbench? I also proffered the mag pick ups (in all my guitars ) over the modelling but once I balanced the string volumes out (had to reduce the heavier strings down to about 60% as it was bass heavy) and turned the models up to match the magnetic pickups volume I was much happier with the sound and now the models have a more wooden timbre than the mags I hardly ever use the mags now
  19. Well to be honest it's usually my backing vocals that start em off
  20. That's nothing! People's ears bleed when I play
  21. The firehawk app is ios and android only so unless you know a way of running mobile apps on your computer your stuck (I don't know if it's possible but I think some have tried) there isn't a dedicated pc editor Not sure about backing tracks but I think they need to come from the app but you can of course link the firehawk to the computer as an audio interface
  22. Product Dimensions Length: 19.8 inches Width: 11.6 inches Height: 26 inches Weight: 63.1 lbs Your arms will definitely get longer
  23. Yeah click on the looper block and you can adjust the levels there , you would still be better off levelling out your patches otherwise you'll be constantly adjusting the looper And you gave me a great way of checking my patch levels against each other Cheers
  24. OK so this is a noob question as I've only ever played 9's but do heavier gauge strings tend to last longer ? As I say been playing these tens about a month and they're still OK normally I have to change once a fortnight if I want them to feel nice Finger picking is easier too , as I'd expect if I'd actually ever thought about it I suppose
  25. Hmm ok much to ponder , thanks for the advice I'd shake your hand but don't want mine broken lol
