  1. Tell me more about the secret amps ? Nobody has let me in on it
  2. The only fix I know to is to update the firmware, I had a couple of freezes on 1.10 but none since 1.20
  3. Yeah it sounds good and you have the mustang as back up if anything goes wrong with the firehawk You will get better results in my opinion if you disable the cab sims in the firehawk It will sound like a regular amp as opposed to full range clarity of FRFR that may or may not be what your looking for You will get better results if you create the patches while playing through the mustang at the volume you need live If you use a variax, acoustic sounds are usable but not brilliant , again the lack of clarity vs FRFR plays a part. You can run in stereo with the mustang iv, I never tried it as I had a mustang iii but I'd expect it to be an improvement Also you will need to make sure you have the latest firmware on the mustang so that you can position its fx loop to post preamp
  4. You can try going to your Bluetooth settings on your device and "forget connection" Then pair the devices again It worked for me on my Samsung galaxy s6 and I've had no problems since
  5. Yeah the louder you go the more different your eq settings will be I have 2 versions of all my patches , I have one labelled with a (H) So I know it was created on and intended for headphones. Then I'll take that patch amplify it and re tweak it and label it (Lt) So I know its for my lt3 speaker Sounds like a pain but I've asked around and there is no way around it , you simply have to finalise your patches at the volume your going to be playing live, usually cutting the high and low frequencies is a good place to start
  6. You could try turning the cab sim off (select no cab) when using your fender combo , that should improve things. Leave them on when going into the friedman though
  7. Have you set up the volume levels at your normal gigging volume? I say this because when I set up volume changes at home (low volume) they are always more pronounced when I get to rehearsal (playing louder) and I have to dial them back a bit
  8. Not sure about your friedman questions as I've never used one Regarding the firehawk output I regularly run mine at 95% full and it sounds the same , no clipping or anything but I guess that could depend on how loud your patches have been made to begin with You should definitely set your output mode to LINE , that will improve things quite a bit The output mode AMP is for going into the front of a guitar amp Both the friedman and the tech 21 act as power amps
  9. You will find that some amps and effects are louder than others so don't feel like you have to keep the pink volumes all the same For example on my clean patch the pink volume is nearly at max On my dirty patch the pink volume is only halfway up But both patches are a similar volume when I play at rehearsal
  10. Yeah I'm using studio headphones , many different sets You would think that some of the presets in the firehawk could have been set up to sound good through the stagesource though, They all sound harsh
  11. It will start to affect the tone the more extreme the settings are, typically with a noise gate you want to set it as low as possible , so that it's just about cancelling the hum or feedback you're trying to get rid of
  12. Red is the main output it raises and lowers the volume of all patches White is the balance between guitar and mp3 audio playback through the app Pink is the amp Volume and does not affect the tone , you should use this to level your patches Amp master does affect tone so you shouldn't use that to set up volumes if you already like how your patch sounds If you find clean tones aren't loud enough even on full volume you can give it a bit of a boost with the compressor which doesn't affect the tone too much

    FRFR ?

If dunedindragon is using mostly the same gear I'd beg him to share a couple of patches with you If they sound closer to what you expect then it's game on and you know the results can be achieved If it still sounds bad maybe FrFr is just not for you
  14. I'm using android and as you said you can punch the numbers in for the tempo, I know the ios app had an update not long ago but I can't say for sure if it fixed that issue. What you can do though is download the app and try it , you don't need to be connected to the firehawk to set up delays and stuff
  15. Don't forget that this is the first place people come when they have a problem, hence negative comments and such It is a solid pedal but it's not perfect (no pedal is) could be perfect for your needs though, you just gotta try it Personally I think it's very very good , the only thing I don't like is the preset switching could be faster , but it has been improved considerably since launch
  16. Yeah I know .. It's just I thought with having the jtv/firehawk/lt3 some of it might work straight off the bat It's just so so annoying finding a really sweet tone on headphones and then amplifying it and my ears start to bleed

    FRFR ?

Yeah the skill is identifying the bad frequency so when you're sweeping up and down the frequency range don't rush that bit , if you don't hear anything really bad boost the gain on the parametric a bit more Once you think you have the frequency drop the gain to cut it Might help if you search YouTube for "guitar eq" you will turn up some videos of guys doing eq on guitars in various DAWs, it's exactly the same principle but it might help your understanding as they will have a spectrum analyser to look at and it might help with it being more visual

    FRFR ?

The whole process may have been less necessary before when you were using a regular guitar cab as the cab naturally cuts some of the problem frequencies out With a full range speaker however you're getting all the highs and lows faithfully reproduced much like what a recording engineer would capture in a studio with a mic, he would then eq it for the mix
  19. mcbeddall

    FRFR ?

Yeah he's cutting the low eq in the cab parameters (most amps somewhere between 100-200 hz will sound better, amps that are particularly boomy might need 200-300 hz) And he's cutting a frequency around 3khz with the parametric eq, in the video he cut them around about the same place for all amps (which would suggest the cut your making may be a little high, but all equipment is different so you could be spot on) Generally speaking a good eq tip is to always cut before boosting eq's You can end up boosting high frequencies to get the guitar to cut through which will likely end up sounding harsh , when all that was really needed was to cut some of the lows to make things sound clearer

    FRFR ?

That's a great video , really simplifies the eq process
  21. OK so I plugged into the headphone socket But it didn't fix my problem, it seems the headphone socket sounded the same as the line out only slightly louder, all sounds good at low volume but everything gets harsh when I turn it up loud, guess I'm just gonna have to dial everything in at volume
  22. mcbeddall

    FRFR ?

You must probably need to cut the high and low frequencies more aggressively, you could try a parametric eq or the mid focus eq
  23. Yes much much better than having the fx loop in the old position (you may have noticed that changing amp models on the mustang changes the tone of what's coming out of the firehawk so you end up having to use "studio preamp"), I actually got a very good live sound and I only switched to a FRFR speaker because I wanted to make use of the cab sims and be closer to my recorded tones . I used to have a zoom g5 and that also sounded great through the mustang, I figure that the speaker is designed or chosen to work well with models and the power amp in the mustang doesn't colour the tone too much
  24. Yeah they changed it in an update due to complaints because version 1 was post preamp only it made no sense that version 2 was pre preamp only You can move it in the global settings of the amp if you have the latest firmware I can't remember the firmware number and I sold the amp last month
  25. Which mustang have you got? I had a mustang iii version 2 which had the fx loop before the preamp but if you update to the latest firmware you can move the fx loop to pre or post Definitely worth your while updating
