JTV 59 string guages
mcbeddall replied to Allan66's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Mmm can't tell if sarcasm or not I've had my jtv a month and it's time for some new strings, I usually play 9s but the tone of my jtv with 10s is really nice , I do a lot of string bends though and my manicure guy is gonna be screaming at me , will 9s be OK? Or do I just need to man up? -
FIREHAWK FX as foot controller for FIREHAWK 1500?
mcbeddall replied to BobbyBlue27's topic in Firehawk
You could probably trade in for a floor controller and get a bit knocked off the amp too, and as all your tones are on the cloud you only have to log in and drop them into place on the new unit -
The ones I just posted are as good as any of the sennheisers around £100 range regarding sound at least The superlux are comfy enough but all the sennheisers I own are so comfy I forget I'm wearing them
-
Look no furtherhttp://www.head-fi.org/products/superlux-hd-681-evo-black-professional-monitor-headphones I got some of these earlier this week to help with creating tones on my firehawk , they are a semi open back set with quite a flat response I read the reviews and took a punt on them , for the money they are absolutely incredible Just 29 English pounds

There will probably be quite a few stagesource speakers on the used market around may time if you can wait that long , the new firehawk 1500 coming out will see quite a few people switching to that But yeah the alto speakers are very good for the money
-
If that's a solid state amp I doubt 60 watts will be anywhere near loud enough to compete with a drummer, especially regarding the vocals , but my drummer is a bit of an animal , worth bearing in mind though
-
I'm really pleased to see the firehawk 1500, I won't be getting one anytime soon as I only recently got an Lt3 speaker but for me this means that the firehawk will indeed get more updates, I mean it's just a firehawk grafted onto a powered speaker , it might even take the same updates, also judging by the general response, a lot of people will be picking one up which means a bigger customer Base that makes more firehawk updates even more worthwhile. It's a seriously cool bit of kit especially as you can run other modellers into it and have 1500 watts to play with.

FOH stands for front of house (the venues pa system) If you want to use a guitar amp plugging into the amps fx return jack is the simplest and most effective if you intend to use the amp modelling in the firehawk. When plugging into the fx return it can sometimes sound better if the cab within the amp model is set to "no cab"
-
I think it just depends what kind of person you are, yes on paper the hd500 sounds awesome with all the routing options and twin amps etc , but I had one and found it so useless I sold it in 3 months , for my needs the firehawk is way better , and they never advertised it as superior to the hd500
-
Actually I had a quick look at it for you but rwandy posted a tone called blue hotel on the cloud which pretty much nails it , if that one is distorting for you then try backing off the volume on the guitar (you won't actually lose much volume but the tone will clean up) the tone using my jtv is dead clean through headphones using my telecaster adds a bit of dirt because the pickups are hotter
-
Sorry I simply don't have time at the moment, I need to populate my firehawk with a ton of tones also

Line 6 gets competition from Vox

Would have looked kinda cool in the 80's though -
Downloading tones from Cloud to Firehawk FX - step by step
mcbeddall replied to mariashepherd's topic in Firehawk
Try logging into the app again with your username and password -
I think this problem is due to corrupted tones , the easiest way to solve it (assuming you haven't created tons of tones) is to delete any tones that were made on the 1.10 firmware and create them from scratch using 1.20

It's always worth a look at the tones details as sometimes it tells you what type of guitar or pickups it's intended for Everybody has a different set up so tones are always going to sound different on different gear , if you find a tone you like make a note of the authors name, maybe he has a similar set up to you and you might like other tones he's created Also help alleviate the problem your experiencing, when your happy with the tone post it up on the cloud -
Firehawk with an amp, or with a powered speaker?
mcbeddall replied to angelectrico's topic in Firehawk
Yeah that's same for me except I was using a pod xt live, it's about as easy to get a good tone as it was on the xt live , not twiddling for hours like with the pod hd500 -
Firehawk with an amp, or with a powered speaker?
mcbeddall replied to angelectrico's topic in Firehawk
I used the old amps at first as I was more familiar with them but I do prefer the hd ones now -
Try backing off the volume knob on the guitar, it's possible your pickups are hotter than most and that's why tones intended to be clean sound a bit overdriven
-
Brilliant, thanks for that, I found it interesting what you posted about preferring open backed headphones, and I think that has pointed to my problem , I have a good quality sennheiser headphone but it is a closed back set and the problem I am getting is that my patches are all irritatingly harsh with pronounced highs when I amplifi them at rehearsal , so this would be because my headphones are pronouncing the lows a lot more and I'm compensating by removing the lows with eq. The patches I've created while playing at gig volume through the stagesource are all sounding unbelievably good (it might be more fun to build a soundproof shed in the garden) Thanks for your help , I really appreciate it

Hi , I want to be able to create my tones using headphones and have it sound the same (as close as possible ) when amplifying the tones through my lt3 Anybody have experience of a good headphone for this use (so many are designed to enhance bass etc) I'm really looking for a good flat response headphone I realise that making tones on headphones isn't the best scenario but a lot of the time I get to practice at home the kids are in bed
-
And I posted this in another thread but in case you missed it just try keeping the master parameter in the amp models between 40-60%, it's very tempting to turn it up for more volume but nearly all the amps sound much more realistic at 50%
-
I'm getting some pretty convincing amp tones out of this set up for live use and when I want to record I just ditch the speaker and I get the same sound going straight to the pc Just find a pair of headphones that have a flat response similar to the lt2 and you can create tones quietly at home that require hardly any tweaking when you amplify them at rehearsals and gigs I have kids that go to bed early so for me this is the best set up I ever had I got the jtv 59 only recently but I've found one of the real surprises for me was just how good the acoustic models sound going through the lt2 instead of a guitar cab, it sounds better live than stuff we recorded recently with a decent takemine guitar
-
From my experience the firehawk sounds much better through a PA speaker than a guitar amp , I've had the lt3 a month or so and apart from it being too heavy it really fits my needs much better My guitar amp sounded like it had a big woollen blanket over it by comparison The real clincher for me is that I use a bit of odd stuff now and then like the synths and stuff and they sound mega through the stagesource
-
I'm absolutely loving this guitar , I really can't believe how good it sounds, I'm running the 59 into a firehawk and then out to the Lt3 , I only have 4 patches properly dialled in but they each sound better than anything I had on any of my previous rigs My dad came round to try it today, he played in a dire straits tribute as Mark knoffler for about 10 years so I set him up with the resonator model and 2 hours later I literally had to kick him out the house, he said he didn't think it would be possible to sound so accurate

http://line6.com/software/index.html Go to that link and select firehawk in the drop down menu , the first download you see should be memory flash 1.20 As silverhead said, you will need to download the updater also if you haven't already and do the above on a pc or laptop
