  1. Yes you can connect your hd500 to the firehawk 1500 and thereby use the firehawk 1500 just to amplify the pod You may or may not find that you can recreate your tones using the firehawk modelling, really depends on what effects and amps you use etc However with time you should get tones close to what you get on the 500 so it would serve as a great back up should you ever have a problem with the pod The only way to copy the tones would be to make a note of how you have them set up on the hd500 and then manually recreate them on the firehawk, again, depends on what you use , the firehawk has more limitations than the hd500
  2. Man that's strange and not something I've experienced before Things that are worth a try are; 1) reinstalling the app 2) forget the connection with firehawk and re pair the devices 3) try a different tablet or phone (borrow one if you can)
  3. I'd consider upgrading from firehawk if it had 1)IR loading 2)tablet control/editor 3)global reverb level knob like on the xt series 4)hd versions of line 6 amps like 21st century clean , super sparkle etc
  4. Are you sure you're connected to the firehawk? All of those features disable when your not connected Are the options there but greyed out?
  5. I can't test it I no longer have the mustang Are you sure you have the mustang loop set to post? When you play your guitar and turn the wheel on the mustang to cycle patches you should hear a short dropout in sound each time you change a patch but no difference in tone regardless of what amp is set on the mustang. Is that the case?
  6. Yeah if they did something like the amplifire but more like the all in one design of a pod floor unit, that would be good But I guess that's kind of what helix already is
  7. If it were to be a success it would need helix modelling , nobody is going to spend extra on last gen models , surely they'd just save the extra for the helix
  8. The older models are still very good and very usable in my opinion, just last night I was using the 21st century clean amp in a patch and it had a vibe about it that I couldn't get with the hd amps
  9. Unfortunately you can't Besides you can only use 3 flex blocks (assignable to any effect) at one time, so currently the 5 footswitches on the top row are plenty to enable switching You're going to have to rethink your approach and use different patches maybe

    FRFR volume

I never recorded with mine but using headphones was always fine I wonder if one of the guys who still have one would share a patch with you? Like one that works well with their frfr monitor, it might help point you in the right direction (I'm wondering if your eq needs to be more focused on the mids) Be careful about pushing the volume too hard though, I melted one speaker at rehearsal and had to pay for the repair. I also suspected the speaker but eliminated it when I ran the 500 into the mustang when I first got it (using as a poweramp into fx return ) the mustang speaker got very hot despite still not being loud enough At that rehearsal I ended up switching to the modelling included in the mustang and I had to turn down considerably as it was way too loud, this led me to trade the 500 in the same week as I just had enough at that point How long have you had it? Are you in the UK? I'm starting to suspect it's possible you have my old unit, unless it's the 500x you have?

    FRFR volume

I had the same problem as the op with a hd500 running into an alto ts110a I could never get enough volume, going from memory I think the speaker was 400 watts rms and 800 watts peak Unfortunately I can't be of any help as I never found the answer, I spent about 3 months trying though , ploughed these forums and tgp, YouTube etc but just couldn't compete volume wise with our singers fender mustang 100 watt on 3.5 volume I ended up flipping the 500 for a zoom g5 and the alto for a mustang same as our singer One thing I never tried which I regret now is trying another pod through the speaker to see if my pod was indeed outputting at a reduced volume, unfortunately at the time I didn't know anybody with a pod so my only option would have been to take my speaker to a store and pretend to want to demo a pod through it Like I say I wish I'd done that though I suspect a faulty pod to be honest Forgot to mention that before I got the hd500 I was using a pod xt live, all my other gear and guitars were the same and I never had a problem with volume back then, so I concluded it was something with the hd500 causing the issue Hope you solve it
  12. Maybe he just sold the stuff to make "room" for a child , just sayin If you'd have said it's only for gigs I'd have said hd500 but seeing as it's recording only I'd say the helix because when recording you really scrutinise your tone and the helix is capable of more realistic models for sure But if it's for hobby only then it's an expensive toy but a fun one I went with a firehawk because I mostly gig (again as a hobby) and I doubt most people would notice a huge difference live , plus I have to factor in extra costs for amplification and flight cases etc But when I record I wish somebody had a helix I could borrow lol
  13. Yeah you need to use your foot and put some serious pressure on it, it will ease up over time though

    Clean Boost

If your tone already uses the compressor or if you already have all your fx blocks used up it can be preferable It doesn't sound any better or anything

    Clean Boost

Another way is to put a jumper lead between your fx loop send and fx loop return and turn the volume up in the loop, you can assign it a foot switch to turn it on and off
  16. So long as you have the mustang on the latest firmware you should get some very usable sounds out of it by plugging the pod into the fx return on the mustang. With the latest firmware you can move the fx loop in the mustang to "post" this will bypass all of the modelling and tone stack of the mustang, meaning that it won't colour the sound much. I ran a mustang that way for a year or so before eventually giving in to temptation and getting a FRFR setup
  17. Yeah same here, it's always better creating your own from scratch, I don't know why you're having volume issues, I find the firehawk fairly easy to get good tones out of compared to other stuff I've tried and as I've said before I have a few patches that are dialled in perfect for me and they really hit the sweet spot. But good luck to you
  18. Yeah I wish he made more videos, when I copy what he does I get exactly the same sound I hear in the video, it's really helpful having a solid Base to start building a patch
  19. Marshall amps for sure, have a look at this It shows how to build a patch from scratch and eq it, the plexi is one of the amps used , you might want to leave the tube screamer off or set it low , ACDC tend to use less gain than you probably think
  20. If you have access to the patch parameters you should be able to just recreate a new patch using the same settings, check out which models are included in the firehawk , you can download the app and create patches to see what's available to you
  21. You can alter the volume of the models in workbench , just need to up the volume of each preset by about 3db Yes that sucks
  22. The guys at line 6 have already answered this question elsewhere, they reckon that ditching the modelling part would only save about $100 off production cost so probably not worth it
  23. How about if you put the delay between the firehawk output and your amp? So that it's the absolute last thing in the signal chain. I'm not saying it will work but might be worth trying My bad , it's not possible on the 1500 is it?
  24. Try forgetting the connection on your tablet and then search again for the firehawk and pair them again That's what worked for me with the firehawk fx, got no idea why though
  25. No I didn't get the 1500, I'm running firehawk fx into a stagesource LT3 and it sounds very good I'm getting better with the eq block now and that seems to be the trick to creating natural sounding patches
