Nope. Can't be done. When you connect the external pedal, the on-board pedal automatically only controls EXP1.

I've had better results from 2 of the same amp with 2 different cabs, rather than two different amps, although obviously ymmv. As ever, meambobbo's guide contains a wealth of information on the subject.
-
And it's up to you what you do in terms of amp models. You can use one or two. Bear in mind that each path is stereo, so you don't need to use dual path to get stereo separation.

'Reply to this topic' is correct. Re your input settings - there's nothing to stop you trying the other settings. They're obviously set up for combo/stack/direct, etc, but you might find you get a better result from one of the others. It's just personal preference at the end of the day. Also, try downloading some tones from http://line6.com/customtone/browse/podhd500/. Stick with the ones with good ratings initially, then you know they should be fairly decent. And, of course, feel free to report back with your findings.

The boys at Andertons do good video reviews - watch this before you make the trip. Also worth reading the comments as general consensus seems to be that it sounds great through a decent size cab. http://youtu.be/XzDohmkXeJs

Isn't this something to do with input impedance? I'm sure I've read somewhere that some fuzz pedals will only work at the beginning of a signal chain and I've got an inkling I've had this problem in the past with a fuzz pedal that I built myself.
-
I'd go for option 1, but there's no hard and fast rules. If your wah is having no effect, the first thing I would do is test the wah, on its own, straight into the amp, to make sure it is working ok.

Define 'horrible'. It may be that there's a problem we can help with. It may be that you just don't like it.

With a bit of time, I reckon you can get reasonably close to almost any amp sound with a Pod and a DT25, so it really just comes down to personal taste. There's no substitute for going and trying one - I'll be doing the same thing with a Blackstar HT-1RH on Friday.

I use my Pod with a laptop and a pair of active monitors. That allows me to play music from my laptop (with FRFR, obviously, cos it would sound lollipop through an amp) and play along with it when I want to. That setup has probably cost me about £1200 + guitars. If I bought an Amplifi 75, I could play my music through it (with FRFR) and play along with it when I want to. That setup would currently cost me £315 + guitars. To be fair, I also use my setup for recording (not just guitars) and such, so it's no use to me, but it's an interesting blue ocean strategy, specifically targeting play-along bedroom noodlers. Might be very popular as a decent starter setup for kids. Might be a total disaster. For the record, I think not supporting Android at launch is a big mistake.

It would make sense if it was like a Pod with FRFR. The cloud and streaming services just replace what you can do via the usb link with the current Pod and the FRFR would make it much better as a play-along tool than a standard amp. Price seems about right for that kind of tech. If it really is 70 amps, though, they better share them with the rest of us and not just use them as an Amplifi marketing tool. Anyway, NAMM starts in about 15 minutes, so we probably don't have long to wait. Edit: Oops, my bad; there's another hour to go yet.

You might find a couple of friends here as well. A couple of other people have asked about Chapman sticks before, but I don't know if they're regular visitors.

I was thinking more about applying the stereo FX loop to your stereo signal. If you were using dual paths and wanted the FX loop to apply to both sides of your signal, it would have to go after the mixer.
-
Pretty sure it would work, as I know it's been done with an 11R, but in the absence of anyone who has actually done it with those bits of kit, there's no substitute for just giving it a go and seeing what happens.
-
Sounds like a fun rig. Bear in mind you can use two inputs for stereo into the POD, and each of the two signal paths is stereo as well, so as long as you're not dual amping, you could retain a stereo signal, including a stereo FX loop, all the way through, or split into two parallel, and both stereo, paths. Like you, I'm interested in what it can and can't do, as much out of curiosity as whether it will be of any practical use to me, and I agree it has its limitations (as any piece of kit always will), but I thoroughly enjoy the process of pushing the boundaries.

I noticed the same thing when I wanted to plug my electronic drum kit into my Pod. Had to turn everything right up to get a vaguely usable volume level. As a workaround, I bought a 1/8" TRS to 2 x 1/4" TS lead and I plug the drum kit's output into the two FX return inputs. That way I can get a stereo signal from the drum kit that is affected by the volume controls, but only use one of the paths in the Pod. Works fine as long as you're not planning on using 'dual tones'.

I'm not sure you're sure what you're trying to achieve. If you truly mean 'parallel', you'd need to split the signal prior to the FX send, otherwise all you're really doing is switching between effects. I made a patch a while ago where I had two delays either in parallel or in series but, in terms of building the patch, I needed three delays (2 on one path, one on the other) set up so that the serial and parallel ones were applied to the same switch as in my example above. Or, I could set the expression pedal to blend between series and parallel. It wasn't a great deal of use sound-wise, but I found it an interesting thought process. If you can give me a more specific example of what you're trying to achieve, I'll probably be able to tell you whether or not it's possible.
-
No, you can't, but you can create the same effect by assigning multiple slots to one footswitch. For example, say you want to swap between your favourite fuzz pedal and one of the internal drive effects - put the FX loop and the drive effect in adjacent slots and, with one switched one and one switched off, assign both of those slots to the same footswitch. Then when you press that switch, loop turns on and drive turns off, or vice versa. Et voila!

1. You're right - the preset name is stored in metadata and is not linked to the file name. As far as I'm aware, you can only change the preset name either on the Pod or in Edit. 2. I'm pretty sure the only way you can batch transfer is if the files are already in a setlist or bundle. If you've downloaded a bunch of individual presets, you'll just have to drop them in one at a time. It doesn't take long if you just drag and drop from windows into Edit.

I think it's fair to say that you have to push harder than you might expect.

Interesting that you mention the G-Major; I've been thinking about getting a G-System and only using my HD500 for amps and drive (which I think it's really rather good at). As for the OP, though, you shouldn't buy a product unless you're happy with it at the time of purchase. The HD500 does everything I expected it to at time of purchase and I've had a couple of free extras along the way as well. Bonus. I've got exactly the same complaints as everyone else (global EQ, dual cabs, EQ not in Hz), but, given that I'm considering spending about £900 on a G-System, I could fix all of those things by selling the HD500 and getting an Axe-FX 2 (or possibly a Kemper) instead of the G. It's a decision I'm yet to make, but I certainly don't expect Line 6 to start throwing free stuff at me for moaning about something about which I was not misinformed in the first place.
-
OP didn't actually mention recording/mixing, so upgrading to 'inaccurate' monitors could be exactly what they need, as long as it's an improvement over their existing kit. Changing to 1/4" outs will avoid the impedance imbalance issues you'll get using the 1/8" out, so you should notice an improvement, as long as the monitors aren't really rubbish. I use 5" monitors myself, but my KRKs are in a similar price range to the Equators mentioned above so they won't be much use to you. There are certainly some pretty decent budget 5" monitors about though - Google is your friend. Get an idea of what might be decent, then find out who stocks what locally - in that price range sound quality can be a matter of personal taste.

Yes, the phones out is stereo and the USB audio is stereo. I'd check your PC audio settings.
