  1. Zip the patch file. I think the forum only allows certain file extensions.
  2. I think I can hear what you're hearing. It's a kind of whooshing. I also heard towards the end (the second to last chord strike) that sounds like some sort of digital artifacting, sort of like mp3 compression, but not quite like it, when you hit the note. How do you have all you're stuff hooked up? How exactly did you make the recording. If you hear it with only the headphones hooked into the pro x, I would guess it's something to do with the patch, or the device itself. Could you post the patch?
  3. Here's the default hd500 setlists. hd500.default.setlists.zip
  4. Glad to be of help and thanks for the compliment. If interested, here are some patches. All the bass patches I use for Existence so far and made on an hd500x. They will work just fine on an Pro X as well. The weird names are just version numbers followed by the settings I used on the bass (mid eq switch, bass, mid, and treble knobs). And a setlist of bass patches made by a member on this forum by the name of Ed_Saxman. I believe these were made on an hd500. They will also work on a Pro X. Also, you can view these patches in an offline mode if you're anxious to get an idea of how everything sort of works by using the Pro X edit software. No need for a device. Just download it from Line 6. Existence Bass Patches.zip Bass Amps v3 Ed Saxman 16-Jan-2013.zip
  5. While you can get some pretty good bass tones with an 500/500x/pro/pro x, it is not very easy in my opinion. There are two bass amps, one based on a fender bassman and the other based on an ampeg b-15nf portaflex. But that's not to say you can't get good results by using 'non-bass' amps either. Just have to experiment. For some examples of a bass guitar (ibanez sr1205e) done on a 500x (same as pro x), check out the link in my sig.
  6. It's possible some sort of electromagnetic interference is going on. Florescent lighting, wireless devices (although unlikely), faulty house wiring caused by mice/rats (likely-hood increases with colder weather).
  7. Occasionally the sound cuts out on my hd500x. It's weird though, because the daw meters work as if there is sound going to the computer. Makes you think that the problem lies within the daw, right? Not so. Eventually, I found that by unplugging and replugging the spdif connection on the pod magically fixes it. Weird.
  8. Just drag and drop the patches or setlists (or open thru the file menu) into hd pro x edit and then send them to the device.
  9. Starting from a blank patch and adding an amp results in the lo-cut at zero. However, when running the software in offline mode, all amp dep parameters are set at 12:00 and cab dep parameters are all zero. This is different when in online mode. The amp dep parameters are all at 12:00 except for the master which depends on the amp. The cab dep params are all 12:00 except lo-cut, which is zero (as far as I know this doesn't depend on the cab selected).
  10. When you open a patch without the device being turned on, the software does not check the dsp resource allocation, only when the device is turned on.

    HD 500 in ACTION

Great tone, playing, and sense of musical communication. Really gives a sense of traveling (maybe partly because of the road sign image). I imagine route 74 has some specific meaning behind it?
  12. Oops. Here's the default setlists for the HD500. hd500.default.setlists.zip
  13. Here ya go. hd500x.default.setlists.zip
  14. Another way to get a dry signal without resorting to limiting the effects chain is using the digital output. There's a setting in the system menu that allows this. Of course, you'd need a digital input somewhere along the line.
  15. I recently heard of one other person on this forum with this problem. Seeing as it's brand new, I would take it back to where you bought it from for an exchange or replacement.
  16. The pitch glide is a mono effect.
  17. A global reset doesn't wipe any user defined patches, but it does reset the name of the setlists. You could also just save all your patches (either individually, as setlists, and/or as a batch) before the global reset and upload them after.
  18. I don't think the effect is supposed to do what you're hearing. And after listening really close, with headphones, I don't hear any dry signal at all through the full range of the effect on an HD500X. I'm at a loss to explain it. Perhaps a global reset might fix it? Hold the left arrow while powering on, then change the system menu settings back to your liking. I think the pedal might need recalibration also, after a global reset.
  19. How do you have your patch setup? Posting a screenshot would be helpful. It could be that if you have the pitch glide in one of the paths and the other path is not muted, that could be where the dry signal is coming from.
  20. Not possible on the usb port. But you can get a dry signal out of the coaxial digital output. In addition to that, you can build patches in which a straight unprocessed signal is on one path, and a processed signal on the other path. There should be some detailed info on that if you search the forums.
  21. I've noticed as well the strange behavior you describe while using hd edit. I've since stopped using that function on the device and instead directly enter the millisecond value. Doing this seems to have no strange effects. In the past, I've even used a patch for an extended period (weeks and months), and finally noticed something didn't seem right, so this particular bug (if that's what it is) can deceive you even if you're aware of it.
  22. Hold down the view button until the system menu comes up. Then go to page 5 to access the bpm setting.
  23. You have to set the bpm on the device itself and then save it. Then select another patch, doesn't matter what, then go back to the one you were just on. It should be set properly now. At least, that's how it seems to work on my HD500X. Mine is also set to preset.
  24. If someone is looking to spend that much, an expression pedal wouldn't really add that much more.
  25. Rather than starting a new thread, this one seems to have turned direction to technology a bit, so I'll stick this here. I wonder if Line 6 will soon be releasing an update to their m-series. Fractal Audio just made a wait list for their new FX8 processor. It looks quite interesting, if a bit pricey at 1350. But it could have the potential to pull someone away that's looking at the m-series to the fx8. Check it out
